  1. I am sure Gino would love a holiday in Scotland :cheering: Courtesy TFCpics.com
  2. I would NOT have newsnow on the list for worst sites. We are a NewsNow.co.uk affiliate and all our news stories are syndicated there ... as are stories from the P&J, Scotsman, Times, Daily Record and various other media sources. Only grumble I have with them is that sometimes the keyword filter attaches Partick Thistle stories to the Caley Thistle feed and that after a redesign or change to the feed url it takes a long time to have your new feed listed (been waiting a couple of weeks now for our new front page feed url to be picked up). Its a slightly different type of site but to be honest, I would class soccerbase as one of the worst for ICT. It purports to be a stats site and most of the stats are pretty accurate but I always have to double check with Ian Broadfoot's stats as the squad list is always wrong and if they cant get that right can you really trust their figures ?????????
  3. still waiting on clarification of the rules from the SPL. Andy is ready to continue his cam-work, we just need clarifications - especially for live games where its being filmed anyway
  4. thats worth a little green dot ;)
  5. Agree with you here IHE. some of the rules applied to stadia seem nonsensical. It seems that quite a few of them are "one size fits all" and have to apply in the same fashion to a few hundred at Victoria Park, a few thousand at TCS or 50 thousand at Ibrox or Parkhead .... and that just doesnt make sense. Then you add another layer where some stewards or officials apply them over-officiously, with their trump card of "football banning orders" hanging over you and you effectively have the erosion of the matchday experience, not just at TCS but throughout the country. However, maybe there is a way to bend the rules or enhance the experience and still stay within the spirit of the rules? thats maybe where we should see if the club and the fans can come up with something ? As for vociferous support. I assume you mean within the SPL/SFL but anyhoo, I am going to give you TORONTO FC as an example ! 20,000+ at every game, 99.5% retention rate for season ticket holders, minimum 5year wait for new season ticket requests, designated supporters sections where standing/chanting and banners are not only allowed but encouraged and expected and all of this achieved in an all-seated stadium at no cost to the club who established dialogue with the supporters groups to thrash out the do's and dont's. In fact the club probably makes money out of it as they use the "experience" as a positive thing in TV and media advertising ! Could ICT do something similar on a smaller scale by exploring something like this in a realistic fashion? establish dialogue, thrash out the rules, have agreement from both sides to stick to the rules and let the enjoyment begin ? Agree. each to their own. some are happy to sing/chant, others just want to sit and watch. We should accomodate both, perhaps in different areas and allow everyone to enjoy the atmosphere or experience the way they want to (within the rules). You dont need terracing to bring back atmosphere.Toronto FC is an all-seated stadium and now, in the midst of their 4th season in MLS, i think I have actually sat down in my seat for more than 30 seconds.......... let me see ..... NEVER !!! Other areas of the ground (those not designated as supporters sections) cannot stand in the same way as we do. stewards will hassle you if you try. Its the TFC way of trying to allow everyone to experience the game the way they prefer ... and it works

Not a case of overlooking things Kirishima. In my opinion it is a case of seeing the repercussions of farming out virtually all aspects of their online presence to 3rd party providers and suffering the consequences when they (the 3rd parties) cannot meet or adhere to the expected service levels (thanks Mr Smith). The club - until now - have not been in control of their own product be that the shop, the website, the advertising, or virtually any other aspect of their online offering. Having dropped a few bits of advice in Kenny's ear I can assure you that the club are more than aware of all this and can and will address this issue (for all areas of their web presence) but it cannot be done overnight. Looking at just the shop and ignoring other areas of the website ...... To establish an online shop with a third party (whether that is their overall website provider or whether it is someone like the current shop site) usually involves agreeing to a percentage of the takings as a fee as well as a minimum contract length and the club will not want to jump from one to another where they might find themselves in the same boat. The other alternative is to bring it in-house and speaking from experience (having been involved in providing their first ever online shop), this requires even more work as there is a lot of configuration, tweaking and then data population to be done before you are anywhere near ready for a launch. You are also dealing with credit/debit cards over the internet and this is something you just cannot rush or f*** about with. It only takes one customer with compromised data to render the whole thing as unsafe. Do what I do Kirishima - get a relative or friend to order it for you over there and get it posted ..... not ideal, but it works ! :_phone:
  7. Overhead after the Antwerp game by someone ...... TB has one wish for this season (other than obviously staying in the SPL) and that is for our home atmosphere to increase and perhaps mimic the noise made by our hardy band of away fans............. I think we all know that TB went out of his way to highlight how well the fans at away games did last season. He was - from what I hear - delighted that we could generate an atmosphere at those games and sure that our "12th man" won us an extra few points .... but as we know the home atmosphere is pretty p*** poor (and has been for years - for various reasons) and anything we can do to have a "12th man" at home would be appreciated by both the manager and by the players who DO react to a lively crowd ..... :ictscarf: :ictscarf: So its over to the fans for discussion ...... what can be done ??? Can we all get behind the team and be the "12th man" that can push them forward to maybe snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat or a win where a draw seemed the best result we could hope for ? Obviously the club are somewhat tied down by SPL and/or UEFA regulations so some things we all know might work may not be allowed but if there are any concrete suggestions, we will be happy to forward them directly to the club for discussion and feedback. Personally, I am getting excited that the season is almost upon us but if we could get an extra few hundred folk giving it laldy maybe that will help turn the TCS back into a fortress ??? for my own part, my suggestion is directed not to the fans but to TB and the team ....... At every Toronto FC home game, after the teams come out and do the lineup, photos and anthems they race down toward the supporters section and applaud/acknowledge the fans with one player in particular applauding and also making the gesture to make some noise ..... perhaps if our players engaged the fans in this manner they (or at least some) would be encouraged to start making some noise ..........
  8. Considering most other Chairmen sacked him, I guess John Boyle and GF would be top of his Christmas Card list !!! However, it is good to hear that he enjoys working for our board and credit to them for securing him and MM on new contracts without any major fuss. I believe that the TB 'brand' is a very important factor in bringing some of our current players to the club, or retaining others when we went down (eg. Foran who has been very loyal to TB over the years). It may have been years ago but being the England and Rangers captain, and between him and MM, winning many caps for their countries, as well as a media profile for TB, doesnt hurt when it comes to cracking that geographical nut that almost all of our former managers have complained of.
  9. Having never ventured into that territory I cannot say how easy or how difficult it is to operate the ICT PA system, but I do remember CaleyD telling me it was - to be diplomatic - "not ideal" and that he had to tweak and adjust things all the time...... and even when he got it right, the next week the same settings would have a different effect and he had to tinker again !!!! Don had the benefit of being able to come on here, listen to what you guys said and adjust the system accordingly. The fact he had been a DJ for a number of years also allowed him to tweak things a little better to suit the surroundings as he had spent quite a few years trying to make his own equipment work in various locations that were maybe not quite acoustically perfect. I know that the club are aware of the failings of the system, but I don't know if they are in the position to do anything about it. If it packs in again though - like it did before the QP game - then their hand may be forced as a working and reliable PA system is part of the stadium criteria from UEFA and I am sure there would also be Health and Safety ramifications as it would be required should there be a need for an evacuation or emergency announcement. As for the announcer himself - give the guy a chance !!! I have no idea who it is, but perhaps some constructive criticism rather than "we need a new announcer" might be more productive ? Were you perfect in the first week or two any time you were doing a new job ? Lets get behind the team, lets get behind the staff, lets get behind each other and urge everyone on against the real enemy ...... every opposition team that comes a calling at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium !!!!!
  10. Was going to say you might be beaten by our Antipodean cousins as there are a few ICT fans there, but methinks you are definitely further south at latitude 51°S than them at 30-40°S for Oz (We know of ICT fans in Perth, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane and others) or 40-45°S for NZ (Not sure where our fans are there but dont think we reach the tip of the south Island) ........ even so, for all of our fans in the southern hemisphere that's quite a distance when you consider Inverness is 57°N

There IS a problem with the online shop which is why the club stoppd linking to it. A new online shop is in the works but dont know much more at the moment.
  12. fair enough .... just makes me shudder when some folk think we will scoosh a game ..... for some reason it reminds me of Dundee and scooshing the league
  13. According to the stats we have played Peterhead 8 times before, all away from home - 6 friendlies, 1 CIS Insurance Cup and 1 Bells Cup. We have a record of 4 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses ... and worryingly the last two losses were the most recent friendlies !!! 21/07/00 - Friendly: Peterhead 2-4 ICT (Munro [2], McBain, Shearer) 08/08/00 - CIS Cup: Peterhead 2-3 ICT (Stewart, Xausa, Mann) 28/07/01 - Friendly: Peterhead 1-1 ICT (Wyness) 21/07/02 - Friendly: Peterhead 1-5 ICT (Wyness [3], Hart [2]) 12/08/03 - Bell's Cup: Peterhead 1-2 ICT (Hislop [2]) 19/07/05 - Friendly (Buchan Cup): Peterhead 0-0 ICT [Peterhead won 7-6 on penalties] 18/07/06 - Friendly: Peterhead 3-2 ICT (Wilson, Dods) 25/07/07 - Friendly: Peterhead 2-1 ICT (Hart) I hate this kind of prediction !!! It wasnt that long ago that a few folk thought that both Mann and Wyness could still do a job for us and Bavidge has also been no slouch at Peterhead. This will be a tough tie and I would hope we go through but if we take Peterhead lightly we do it at our own peril !!!!!

  15. The second round draw for the Co-Operative Insurance Cup (League Cup) has been made and Caley Thistle will play Peterhead at the Tulloch Caledonian Stadium on Tuesday 24th or Wednesday 25th August. Peterhead have somewhat of a Highland contingent in their ranks with former ICT players Bobby Mann, Martin Bavidge and Dennis Wyness all signed for the Blue Toon, and former County player Conor Gethins and manager Neale Cooper in charge. In the last round, as ICT were seeing off Queen's Park, Peterhead were disposing of Montrose by a scoreline of 5-0 with Dennis Wyness scoring a double, Martin Bavidge also scoring and Bobby Mann having assists in at least two of them. It will be a tough game. The Full draw is: Kilmarnock v Airdrie United Brechin City v Dundee Heart of Midlothian v Elgin City Alloa Athletic v Aberdeen St. Johnstone v Morton Ross County v St. Mirren Inverness Caledonian Thistle v Peterhead Partick Thistle v Falkirk Queen of the South v Forfar Athletic Raith Rovers v Hamilton Academical Dunfermline Athletic v Clyde [*In the event of a draw after normal time, extra time of 30 minutes (i.e. 15 minutes each way) will take place and thereafter, if necessary, kicks from the Penalty Mark will be taken in accordance with the Rules laid down by The International Football Association Board]

  18. Yip that would be mine.. Martin Cameron for Alloa turned into Pele for the day and bagged 4 goals. Possibly the best performance I've ever seen from an opposing striker who then disappeared down south to become a nobody The way the goals went as well 1-0,1-1,2-1,2-2, 3-2, 3-3, F/T, 4-3 then finally 4-4.... even the penalies were tit for tat.. until Rossco (maybe Teasdale) missed his and lost us the match Truely epic game and probably has a lot to do with why I love football so much. Yes, that was a classic game. throughly enjoyed it .... funnily enough it was our penalty king - PAUL SHEERIN - who scored a hat trick for us during the game (including two penalties) that stepped up to take the first one in the shootout and missed !!! Mike Teasdale missed our last one as we lost 5-4 on pens. Dug out the official match report below SUN 21st NOVEMBER 1999 SHYBERRY EXCELSIOR STADIUM, AIRDRIE BELLS CHALLENGE CUP FINAL INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE 4 (Wilson 29, Sheerin 46 pen, 56 pen & 112) Fridge, Tokely, Hastings, Teasdale, McCulloch, Sheerin, Wilson, Xausa (Bavidge 104), Wyness (Glancy 105), Christie, Golabek (Byers 72) ALLOA 4 (Clark 20, Wilson 33, Cameron 48 & 104) Cairns, Boyle, Clark, McAneny, Beaton, Valentine, Little, Clark (Christie 67), Cameron, Irvine, Wilson (McKechnie 65) Sub – Donaghy 4-4 after extra time. Alloa won 5-4 on penalties – Alloa penalties – Irvine scored; Beaton hit bar; Boyle, Cameron, Little & Cairns scored ICT penalties – Sheerin saved; McCulloch, Tokely, Byers & Wilson scored; Teasdale saved REFEREE – J McLuskey ATTENDANCE – 4043 MAN OF THE MATCH - Martin Cameron (Alloa) Bitter disappointment for Caley Thistle as they lost their first ever senior cup final on penalties. They came from behind three times in normal play then again in extra time to take the game to a penalty decider. Alloa took the lead in 20 minutes when Gary Clark hit a low ball past Les Fridge from 15 yards. Barry Wilson equalised in 29 minutes with a neat chip over the ‘keeper. A defensive error let in Mark Wilson to score Alloa’s second in 33 minutes but Paul Sheerin equalised from the penalty spot just after half time. This lasted 2 minutes before Martin Cameron made it 3-2 with a 15 yard angled volley. Another penalty goal by Sheerin made it 3-3 in 56 minutes. 14 minutes into extra time Alloa again took the lead when Martin Cameron beat the defence and ran on to score. Paul Sheerin completed his hat trick 8 minutes from time with a 16 yard shot. It was 4-4 on penalties after the regulation 5 attempts each. Alloa ‘keeper Mark Cairns was the hero when he scored to make it 5-4 then saved Mike Teasdale’s penalty. The Cup was on its way to Alloa after an exciting match.
  19. We requested updated info from the supporters club for the last two years and havent got it .... Kath at least posted some info on the boards about busses and events but now she is no longer doing it I am not sure what info will be forthcoming. If anyone from the SC is reading this - feel free to send us info and we will update the SC page on here as well as pointing the SC email address to who it should be going to !!!
  20. Great topic (have a green dot) ......... but what a hard decision as we have been blessed with some real characters that - in their prime - would not have been out of place in the SPL. Surprised no-one has mentioned Charlie Christie yet but he would definitely make my shortlist, as would Jim Calder, Bobby Mann, Darren Dods, Paul Cherry, Barry Wilson Ian Stewart and Dennis Wyness ...... I would love a primetime version of any of the above in the team now but if I can pick only one then it has to be Bobby followed closely by Barry. Simple reason is that I think we are well covered in almost every area of the park now but defence will be immensely important this season and that is where we are still lacking. Bobby would bring solidity to the defence and despite liking the hoof at times can also ping a ball 50 yards to the foot of the player he is trying to reach and also pitches in with a few goals every season which puts him ahead of Dods in my mind.
  21. The club have asked us to post this on the boards ....... please direct any questions to the club and not to us !!! Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC are looking to recruit the following position Stadium Handyman The ideal candidate will have general all round experience in building maintenance with electrical and plumbing knowledge a certain advantage. Could suit a recently retired person as hours are varied and will require flexibility. If it is in terms of priority tickets then there is so much more already in place that you can do to achieve that ...... you can join the centenary club - a chance to win money and also get priority tickets for cup games (and some league games [OF etc]). your kids can also get cheaper season tickets You can join the supporters trust (which as mentioned earlier also now incorporates the members' club setup when the club was first formed) you can join the supporters club you can become a shareholder (?250 minimum unless its changed) you can buy a season ticket and get priority for cup games that are not included with your season ticket My own personal opinion is that the more "organisations" or "clubs" that are setup, the more diluted the supporters' voices become. That is why (more recently) we have advocated for a lot of things that have been suggested that we do as a website go through the Trust instead.
  23. There was but the system went down about 2-15pm and could not be fixed in time. repairs imminent.
  24. Hislopsoffsideagain has given us the first match report of the season from the fans view. Caley Thistle swept into the second round of the league cup with minimum fuss, kicking off their season with a comfortable win over the amateurs of Queen’s Park. Lee Cox gave the SPL side a half-time lead, and quick second half goals from Eric Odhiambo and Ross Tokely ensured a routine victory, with the visitors displaying plenty of endeavour but precious little quality. 31st July 2010 Tulloch Caledonian Stadum, Inverness INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE 3 - Cox (20), Odhiambo (55), Tokely (58) TEAM: Esson, Tokely, Golabek, Munro (Innes 46) (McBain 60), McCann, Cox, Duncan, Blumanshtein (Odhiambo 54), Ross, Rooney, Sanchez SUBS: Tuffey, Sutherland QUEEN'S PARK 0 - TEAM: Hamilton, Little, Burns, Gallagher, Brough, McBride, Anderson, Eagleshan (Quinn 71), O' Hara (Harkins 58), Watt, Murray (Smith 66) SUBS: McPherson, Meggatt Referee S McLean Attendance 1099 Gardner Speirs had stuck with same eleven that defeated Livingston the previous week, but Terry Butcher went into the match without the injured duo of Jonny Hayes and Richie Foran, plus the suspended David Proctor. Kevin McCann, on loan from Hibs, and Israeli Gil Blumenshtein made their debuts. It was no surprise that Inverness, playing their first competitive game of the campaign, looked a bit rusty in the early stages, creating little in the first 20 minutes other than a sharp shot on the turn from Adam Rooney that was well held by Spiders keeper Peter Hamilton. That finally sparked the game into life, and Rooney saw a headed effort drift wide shortly before Cox grabbed the opener on 22 minutes. The former Leicester midfielder grabbed his first goal for eleven months, racing from midfield to get onto Nick Ross’ through-ball. His initial effort was well parried, but Cox kept his head to slide the rebound into the empty net. Inverness looked comfortable from then on, with Blumenshtein heading a McCann cross wide after a clever build-up on the right, while Tokely should have done better with a free header at a corner, but saw his effort fly over with the goal gaping. Queen’s Park did briefly threaten just before the break, when Ian Watt’s cross flew across the goalmouth and somehow evaded his teammates in the middle, but Caley looked very comfortable at half-time. That was the end of Grant Munro’s day, however, as he went off with a gash in his foot which needed four stitches and was replaced by another debutant, Chris Innes. The former St. Mirren man was to last only 20 minutes himself before tweaking a groin muscle, but by that point the game was up. Another substitute, Eric Odhiambo, doubled the lead, charging down Hamilton’s attempted clearance after the goalkeeper was sold a short passback; the ball appeared to hit the striker on the chin and spun into the net before anyone realized where it had landed. And only two minutes later Tokely atoned for his earlier miss, coolly driving into the roof of the net from twelve yards after Queen’s Park failed to deal with a corner. With a three goal lead, the first division champions understandably took their foot off the gas, and the rest of the match was largely a non-event. The visitors continued to work hard, and Watt came up with their best chance of the afternoon, weaving past three players and bringing a good one handed stop out of Ryan Esson. But it was to be a clean sheet and a straightforward result, and Terry Butcher’s thoughts can now turn towards the league opener with Celtic.
