  1. Yep I got that. Just seems to me that Sunday 3pm would've made infinitely more sense than... oh, sorry it's the SPL, forgot...
  2. Mike Teasdale?
  3. National managers always complain about the long periods of inactivity compared to the day-to-day job of club management. I think that's where a lot of the respect players have for the manager dissolves... So why not let a serving club manager (McCall?) do the national job as well? With a couple of decent assistants it wouldn't be that hard to scout out the form players, indeed he'd be working right in the middle of it week in week out and keeping a sharp tactical brain. Of course it'd need a willing Chairman to come onside as well but there's a few out there who can see beyond the end of their ginned-up snouts. Yep, I've decided, I want a serving club manager to take it and do both jobs.
  4. Just out of interest, has there been a satisfactory explanation why this is on Friday and not Sunday 3pm?
  5. Superb photography. Congrats!
  6. There's actually a signed contract for that? Rugby Inc signed a contract for that? "And he's errr...and it's...oh, goodness, mercy me, the ruck's collapsed...the referee, I think, oh no...I think it's a penalty...a penalty...no it's a free kick...now who was that?(repeat for 80 minutes). Say what you like about the BBC Scotland football commentary teams, their rugby colleagues make them sound like Henry V on the eve of St Crispen's Day!

An interesting player. Quite a bit of chat about him at Stenhousemuir. I guess the pedigree of coming from Arsenal is promising and he must be bursting to prove he can hack it at this level. There's a bit of the headless chicken about him which could be put down to over-enthusiasm but he managed more shots on target during extra time midweek than the rest of the team did in the previous 90*. When I see him running at defenders I'm reminded of Steve Hislop, with slightly less tendency to waddle off towards the corner flag. A direct runner and a promising loanee. How long have we got him for? *I obviously don't have any stats to back this up. So don't ask.
  8. To be fair he's followed it up with a fairly withering critique of his compatriots... http://espn.go.com/golf/rydercup12/story/_/id/8438185/medinah-memories-surely-linger
  9. TB on BBC: "We need to have a better mind-set at the start of games and make sure we apply ourselves better," he explained. "In the second half when the game opens up more we have more about us. "We can't keep going through 45 minutes conceding goals because we won't come back every time." Pepper impressed on his first SPL start, having also equalised against Hearts as a substitute. "He's got great energy," enthused Butcher. "He's a great lad. It took us a year to get him - he had to go back to Ireland for his studies - and now he's learning quickly at our club. "He's a bit like Forrest Gump. It's just as well the stadium is enclosed otherwise he'd been running along Princes Street!" I liked a lot of what I saw yesterday. As has been said Hibs were full of confidence in the first half but credit to us for not letting the head drop after going 2 down. I think that's one of the best Foran performances I've seen, and it was noticeable the extent to which we tried to play to his feet rather than lumping high hopeful balls. Credit to Esson as well for keeping us in the game in the second half, and to Pepper... Run Conor Run...!
  10. Indeed it's him...I searched on the <<La Reunion Journal>> news website and found this interesting item... "Ne plainte a été déposée au parquet de Paris au nom d’une association contre Djebi-Zadi pour "provocation à la haine" après la publication mercredi par l’hebdomadaire de caricatures du "Yngwie" au "CaleyThistleOnline". Lionel a-t-on appris de source judiciaire de "stalking and harassment". DZ dit "get a life"... Une enquête a par ailleurs été ouverte par le parquet sur le piratage dont a été victime le site internet du journal, a-t-on précisé de même avec le bomb-scare source."
  11. I suppose it could be true but I think they blooped during the text commentary on Saturday: "Aberdeen just have the edge: key player Shane Sutherland." I read it and wonder what else they'd got wrong during the 85 minutes I'd been reading....

  13. Where on earth was the marketing department...?
  14. Johndo, better be careful there, slippery slope and all that, you're talking about yourself in the 3rd person... Anyway I think that writing style has already been copyrighted by another wise old cove on here. Is this what happens with age?
  15. Is Friday the new Sunday?
  16. ...actually hang on, just had a thought...have you ever seen them in the same room? Well have you? Can I ask the board to look into this as a matter of urgency.
  17. Most distressing and jaw-dropping post of the season...so far...
  18. 2 minutes long enough?
  19. Brilliant! I'm guessing you don't work for their marketing department.
  20. A few will remember this: 23 Nov 2002 at Arbroath we reached the top of Div1 for the very first time in our progress through the leagues. Aside from the smokies and great stadium (and watching Mantis taunting the locals) that's the reason I've a soft spot for Gayfield in our club's history. A couple of weeks later the Paterson era was over and Robbo subsequently gave us the push to promotion. Those were great times. Arbroath really is the reason I'm kinda jealous of the Newco followers...back to the roots football seems really attractive these days.
  21. One of my favourite away days. Great wee town. Fresh smokies direct from the kiln and the "best £for£ malt of the month [© Mantis]" available at the pre-match watering hole. And a proper standing match experience. Happy days.
  22. Unable to log in.... Getting message "Not a member of this league". Tried to work out a solution but getting nowhere...any ideas?

Have to agree with that RiG. Until a Qatari oil sheik takes over it's going to be 'keep our head above water' up to xmas then get to the magic 35 points (or whatever) by any means in the new year. Not exactly the recipe for slick daring football but that's life.
  24. I suppose there just might be a chance you'll be looking for a seasoned, suitably named, elder statesman to be first honorary president... :lightbulb:
