Ross County are very strong and very difficult to beat. I am not sure our players really want to beat them once let alone twice. Dundee have a massive advantage over the rest just like St Johnstone last year. QOS are formidable opponents. Ayr away is difficult to say the least. Our biggest problem is getting cocky. I see bits creeping back now. We really should look no forward than this Saturday and work for a vital win. Historically the Caledonian Stadium for years hosted the Champions of Division 1 on the last day. If there is real hunger there with our lads we certainly create chances in most games. Pulling back 7 points against Dundee will be difficult.

David Somers what a great referee. Books Hayes for diving although Hayes did not dive but stumbled. But wait........ ''Brewster was lectured by referee David Somers for arguing that former Scotland winger McCann was offside as he nodded the winner into the empty net after a shot from Michael Higdon - whose position also looked suspect - hit the bar. Caley Thistle were also harshly treated early in the second half when Adam Rooney appeared to be upended in the box by Gerard Aafjes, but Somers didn't want to know.'' This is like a Christmas Carol. The little man cannot sleep at night so eventually evens it up. ''Somers apologised to the Caley players for refusing to award them a spot-kick after Gerard Aafjes had brought down Adam Rooney and then held his hands up to an offside when Neil McCann headed home the first-half winner.'' The previously quiet Mr 'Where's that paint tin?' McCall was then restrained by the polis as he attempted to deck the said Mr Somers and his linesman once the whistle had gone. I thought said Mr Somers might deck the said little Ned but too many people stepped in.

Does anyone have a theory why Elgin have been so poor in the Scottish League? They seem to enjoy occupying the low spots in the leagues whilst all other recent Highland League sides have been fairly successful to say the least.

Some very big games next week with Dundee and Ross County on a six pointer. Partick will be tough. Saturday, 30 January 2010 Ayr v Raith, 15:00 Dundee v Ross County, 15:00 Dunfermline v Queen of South, 15:00 Inverness CT v Partick Thistle, 15:00 Morton v Airdrie Utd, 15:00

Dunfermline did not learn from Brechin, Elgin and St Mirren. It did not matter - the administrators decided a series of breached rules should be rewarded. What is the point? Dunfermline might even make money out of incompetence. That is the message being transmitted to all clubs in Scotland. The SFA should now resolve that any club which copies all these rule transgressors including playing a ringer is fined ?5,000 (index linked) and automatically thrown out of the competition.

Lukas Jutkiewicz decided to stay out of his way after the first tackle went in. Great credit to Rossco for playing for the team. He did after all assist with the first goal too.

County starting to plan for the SPL
CELTIC1CALEY3 replied to tokelyisvictorious's topic in General Football
County have a good stadium now and the proposed investment is to be applauded. However, I thought they had to have things in place by 1 March 2010. We should realise that the reason we have lost to them twice this year in the league is that we have underestimated them and also been patronising at times. They have deserved each win and on the face of it they seem to have a very settled team and management structure. We have to overcome that by hunger and hard work. Every team will want to beat Dundee because of their perceived wealth and I expect the chasing pack which is fairly large to create problems especially if Dunfermline play out of their skins tomorrow and within the rules. Ross County are thus making a big move and as I said that is to be applauded. -
Everyone needs to note Smee's post. First of all, the Scottish Cup needs credibility, and in the last few years Breechin and Elgin have technically brought it in disrepute by playing players clearly banned. So every team in the Scottish Cup knows that do something as silly as that is both negligent and in danger of belittling the competition a bit more. That is why I mentioned in the Motherwell thread and it is clear Lionel is banned from our team lines. I would assume that Terry and Maurice are competent enough to check this on our behalf. The management at Dunfermline have missed Woods suspension in about 25 SFA newsletters. That is pretty incompetent and more so that Woods was not aware of it. If you look at what happened on the day the refree appears to have pointed out that Dunfermline's team did not include the requisite number of registered under 21 players. It appears the lines were changed close to kick off and a player brought into the team. In today's hearing it looks as though there was another infringement. If there were four infringements that is gross incompetence and raises serious questions about the management at Dunfermline. The decision to expel was right and proper. It also raises the question about other aspects of Dunfermline's administration and management. We cannot take the field against Motherwell knowing the game's administrators tolerate sloppy administration of team rules.

Caley Stan, That's a comprehensive link. Falkirk have Finnegan and Barr out so Kilmarnock may shade that game. Lionel will probably now give way to Gollie again in the League as well especially after his scything tackle against Griffiths. Dunfermline have no excuse whatsoever if this information is publicly available, CELTIC1CALEY3

Well Mr Knowledge, who are the ICT players on bookings or suspended for the Motherwell game? Surely that is on topic and is pertinent to three teams now who have fallen foul of law transgressions in the FA Cup in the last few years (Brechin, Elgin and possibly Dunfermline). Lionel was sent off against Falkirk and Duncan booked for instance. Were there others carried forward?
-
The most important thing about the game against Motherwell is to check that we do not have any players suspended - poor old Dunfermline!

Terry and Maurice were part of the snow clearing team on the 26th which was very much a community or team effort. We need that spirit amongst some posters. Terry brought along his dog that day, and being a classic butcher's dog, it had all the hall marks of a Lionel. Terry told him to stop doing this so Lionel, if that was his dog's name, did the opposite. Ask him to come to heal and he raced off to show off trickery in the snow. Now some might feel that Terry calls him Dougie, but to be fair to the little terrier, he did not take on too many snow clearers. It was clear the dog was not called Foran. Humping in the snow was not his strong point. Now the moral of the last few days is that if more people started to be positive, did a little bit for their club, stopped speculating like recovering moneymen, and sought out some extra support for Saturday, then the season mght just move a bit in our favour. As Charlie Bannerman has so eloquently observed this is a club that has so far succeeded 'Against All Odds'. Now let's be positive. Rooney is on the verge of greatness. If he scores a few more goals and tops SFL 1 he will attract attention not just because of his namesake. This team will fight for victory over Ross County like no other victory in their history...

Precisely - now treat yer grannies to a special treat this Christmas. Get them away from the tellie, avoid the pantomime and introduce them to the Spirit of the Highlands, and then hawk them off to the Stadium. It's normally grannies who sing so well in church or school concerts so we need them to lift the roof on Saturday.
-
Be very positive. The stadium has been sanded and salted where necessary and the pitch has a warm blanket on it. The players are training hard and whilst it might be frosty tonight and tomorrow there isa very high chance we will get to have this showdown.

Was Lionel the hero?
-
Where is his horse? No seriously, he looks like wingers of old. He is skilful, chirpy, and works hard. Very well deserved and a great find this year. He joked to the P and J that it was a big surprise because he was dropped and only started two games. We need to turn these awards into unbeaten runs. Now watch Lionel get it for December.

In the Airdrie game he went ballistic when Fiona the Fisio attended to him. It looked then as if he had a broken wrist but after a tantrum he played on.

Spare a thought for Lionel! Bully is a guy on the up.

Amazing foresight I might add although after his substitution last week we expected dummies everywhere when he went down the tunnel. He did return but did not seem too chuffed. Pele might have sorted him out.
