  1. Before the game: 'Treble rouser fires up Jags for future tests And the Jags midfielder has no doubts that Saturday's trip north is very much a winnable tie despite the fact Ian McCall's men will be facing SPL opposition on their home turf.' http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/displa...uture_tests.php Partick dangerman Roberts knows how to beat Inverness http://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/Article.a...014871?UserKey= Hughes rescue plan for Jags to beat downturn Hughes today outlined the economic bullet points that are essential if the Jags are to stave off the financial chill now blowing through football. l On the field, it is vital the Jags negotiate Saturday's Home-coming Scottish Cup fourth-round tie at Inverness and land a money-spinning TV date in the next stage. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/displa...at_downturn.php "This time we have got to prove we cannot only play well against a team from the top flight, but produce the result our performance will hopefully merit." http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/displa..._in_spl_tie.php 'Blackpool, the Championship side have reportedly sounded out Partick Thistle boss Ian McCall as a possible replacement for Simon Grayson. 2. Brew would like three pints please. He is desperate for three pints. It seems months ago that he got one pint. Good to know of this offer. Link for supporters http://www.chambersbar.co.uk/about.html
  3. A bit of revenge would go down well if Killie get through. Great goal by Robson in the previous game against them with Gus MacPherson inspirational 60 seconds later proving a game is not won until it is lost. Killie may want revenge for the 3-0 defeat they suffered at Thistle! Killie do have a good record at the Caledonian Stadium so Killie will want revenge for their league defeats this year. Hopefully a great cup tie and hopefully the weather will be better. Imrie is not cup tied so may well play against us if he is punted.
  4. Let's not forget Michael Fraser's performance.
  5. There are lots of strikers in the SPL like Barrowman with scoring droughts. When Paul Richie arrived he had a torrid time. He left a hero. I have criticised Barrowman quite a bit but one or two goals and I think he will start scoring. Denzil and Dargs had long spells before breaking their ducks. To me Barrowman has worked very hard in the last two games and we should persevere with him. Today there was more activity and support up front and I believe he will come good. Lionel will never make it at this level.
  6. It would be nice to continue today's feelgood factor but it is important that we continue to work against the odds and get some more results. The debate in the last 6 or so weeks may prove to be very beneficial for this club because it has focussed thoughts. It is a little unfair now that we can reflect on a win to back bite againgst people who have genuinely sought to bring change because they are passionate about SPL football in Inverness. From that point of view we should cautiously begin preparing for next week's game. We underestimated them the last time we played them and they beat us. This time they are favourites to win and may well stick the sword into this club. All factions should get behind the club next Saturday, and for this week at least, focus on pulling the Club through its current crisis. As posted previously tonight, this was probably one of Craig Brewster's best weeks in football management. Next Saturday he knows it could be one of his worst but for all of us this has been a good week and long may that continue.
  7. Charlie's glasses were steamed up and he just collided with him. I keep confusing Barrowman with Bannerman!
  8. We had a Cameroon international playing today, a 28 year old Latvian playing in an alien country plus the other Latvian midfielder who is on trial here is very experienced - 30 caps. Let's be realistic. Pressley was at the Alloa v Aberdeen game for one reason or another. I am assuming Pavels was signed because the signs of Pressley signing for us are slim. Brew will know him well from their time at Dundee United together. We are giving Tony Dinning a trial and he is certainly experienced but we have intercepted him before he signed for a lower league conference team. Give credit to the club not only signing three good players this week, but also getting their registration sorted out quickly. Michael Fraser looked more experienced today after his rest.
  9. Hearts did not want him cup tied.
  10. Partick did have a few injuries going into this game and the one to Robertson after a very good tackle on him by Bannerman, certainly rattled them. This has probably been one of Brewster's best weeks in management. Close to the chop, significant public abuse, an Emergency Trust meeting to address amongst other things his mangement record, a Partick side brimming with optimism, but behind the scenes he captures three new players. These players then create a nervous optimism in their first game, and he gets the much needed first home win for ages. It was done in front of a very modest crowd but with various pundits indicating their belief in a Partick win and Graham Speirs suggesting he was clinging onto his job by a thread. So after considerable criticism, I say well done in beating the odds. I am convinced that without these three players and the injury to Robertson that Partick were right to fancy their chances. We must now scrap for a point at Hamilton and hope we can achieve a win. That will be difficult but today there were good signs. We may well have some new players in by then although the non cup tied Black may be on his way possibly to a team out of the cup. Lionel may just be on his way.

  12. We have been critical and the Club have responded. This is potentially good news and looks like the very beginning of some further signings. Time for respite and support.
  13. Northern Constabulary are a bit slow but would probably stop this kind of theft. Now that they know of your plan they will lie in wait at the end of the game.
  14. We should be impressed that the Club have signed two and taken three on trial so early in the window. With Pressley offered a contract and who is to say others are potentially on their way, this is positive news. This lad sounds very determined to make a success in Scotland.
  15. Hearts pay us ?100k, we pass that to Partick.
  16. Being realistic, we might now mould the new Bobby Mann from him. Hope to see him against Partick if the visa comes through in time if that is the case!
  17. In contrast to the position we are in, here is an extract from Hamilton's chairman to their fans: ''A Message to Accies Fans from Chairman Ronnie MacDonald --- On behalf of my fellow Directors, Manager, Staff and Players I wish you all a Happy New Year. We have now reached the halfway point of the SPL season and I am sure you will agree that it has been a significant part of the club history. Given all the improvements to the Stadium and the Club infrastructure, toppng the SPL for a brief period and starting this year with the home leg of a league double over Aberdeen. Everyone at the Club is applying themselves to the task of moving the Accies forward, but it is the support that you have given which I wish to acknowledge. It has been well documented how dispirited the Club had become when I took over as Chairman. Our journey from the Third Division to the SPL coupled with rescuing the club from liquidation and oblivion, establishing an excellent youth system and community programme have been achievements everyone can be proud of, however I think the greatest achievement has been the way you have all supported your young team and the Manager. Initially the support were sceptical of our aims after the damaging in-fighting that had characterised the club for many years. Supporting your local club is meant to be fun and a passion. I believe the support given to the team on good and bad days surpasses any other group of fans in the country. There can be nothing more discouraging than having your own so-called fans slaughter your club and I hear it every tme we play away from home. For all your encouragement throughout my tenure I sincerely thank you. As you are aware, we travel to Dingwall for the Homecoming Scottish Cup 4th Round on Saturday and as an appreciation of your ongoing support, the Club will pay the admission costs for each and every 'Accie' who wishes to go. The details on how to obtain your free ticket will be posted on the website, or contact Terry or Scott at the club. Whenever possible we will introduce initiatives to help you support the team in what will be a difficult economic period for everyone.'' We MUST NOT, I repeat MUST NOT, underestimate the magnitude of the task we face when we play them shortly. If we do, Malky might just have to admit we have a small problem if not crisis.
  18. The good news is that the meaningless fixtures are behind us. Inverness Courier quoting Barrowman: "It's two crunch games for us," he stated. "It's coming to that time of the season where from now on in every game is going to be a big one. I think it's just important that we try to enjoy these games as these are the ones that you want in to play in, rather than meaningless fixtures.' Does anyone know which meaningless fixtures he is talking about or does that sum up how we have underestimated the SPL this year? Now this explains why some of us believe we are in a crisis. With Ross County supporters wetting themselves with laughter at our predicament this confirms it.
  19. With suggestions that Dundee United are interested in Cowie and he them so that he does not warm a bench, one option might still be the temporary return of Dods especially if Pressley does not sign.
  20. Just an observation, Brew and Elvis played together for a season in Division 1 before Brew headed to Greece. Steven Pressley..........................He was transferred to English side Coventry City in 1994 for ?630,000. He only lasted a year in England, where he had problems with his form and disciplinary record, before returning to Scotland with Dundee United for a fee of ?750,000. He helped United to promotion back to the Scottish Premier League in his first season, followed by a third place finish in the top flight in season 1996-97. Craig Brewster.........In 1993, Brewster returned to Dundee United, signing for the Tannadice club for a fee of ?250,000. After a slow start in which he struggled to adapt to Premier Division football, Brewster's first season at Tannadice culminated in his greatest moment as a player, scoring the winner for United in the 1994 Scottish Cup Final against Rangers. However, the club was relegated a year later. Brewster helped them towards promotion back to the top flight in 1995?96, scoring four goals in one match against Dumbarton, but when his contract expired at the end of the season he decided to further his career elsewhere. My personal view is that relegation will be a disaster if it happens. Certainly in some games this season we have looked relegation material but equally we have still played some good football and I include Sunday's first 60 minutes. First Division football is very competitive and there are some fine players in that league including quite a few at Partick. However, playing in the SPL is special given the opposition, their grounds, TV coverage and press and other angles.
  21. In his BBC radio interview Craig said we must stay together and he must keep the players heads down. We believe this relates to hard work and not any other interpretation motivation experts may perceive.

  23. The Mendes goal was very special and for those who do not know too much about him here's a CV. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_Mendes My take on the goal, which was stunning, was that after Rossco missed out, Procter had a split second to make it 50:50 but stood off, this created space, Blackie slipped, and the rest is history. Stuart Garden's half time warm up with Essen was as useful as the shilling put in the meter for today's electricity supply. Essen had no chance. The players were superb in the first half, did not lose heart after the goal, but after Barroman's powerful shot (he looked likely to score today), we fell for a sucker punch. I kinda feel Procter was left by Boyd who to be fair, finished brilliantly. Heads did go down a bit but the third, which appeared to result after a push on Hastings, was too late and deflated everyone. The players must take heart from this game and with Pressley in the back four next week, I hope we work to the death to try and eke out a result against a strong Partick team. The history of ICT includes some key games against them in the cup. They hold the edge. We may have won the legal battle but this game might well determine if we are headed back to the First Division. The critical thing is we all stick together and EVERYONE INCLUDING MALKY recognises that it is a crisis. Then we can figure out how to solve it. Brew believes it is a few new faces to freshen things up. Even he must realise two defeats, and he has to walk especially if Pressley plays in these and despite his influence we screw up.
  24. ''We have great belief in this young man,? he said. http://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/output/2...y7924461t0.shtm John Robertson had been ruled out as a possible contender by David Sutherland (Chairman) in a TV interview where he made it clear the John Robertson was part of ICT's history and would be remaining there. http://caleythistleonline.com/news/archive...end-a-fans-view
