  1. One of our neighbours sons worked in one of the towns betting shops a few years back, during Blacks spell here. He knew just about ALL the players by there first name, and they all knew him. Several were daily customers, and one who is still actively playing was in every day during his time here, and would bet on our games. 160 bets in how many years, thats nothing, some of them will have done that in a month or fortnight. Betting against your own team, I dont have a problem with, aslong as he wasnt sent off, scored an own goal or missed a penalty. One thing about Ian Black you couldnt say was he didnt put 100% into his game, thats why he has been booked so often. If Black gets done, its more stupidity on his part, but where do the Authorities go then with ex players now coming out and confirming how rife players betting is in the game.
  2. He is not the first, and is definately not going to be the last. Seemingly some of these bets were just a pound, so was he really going to throw a game for ten or twenty quid. just stupidity on Blackies part. By the way, not defending his actions, but how many footballers do you see going into the bookies, certain ones are there every day, and dont tell me they only bet on the horses, a habit is a habit
  3. But do Scunnie start pre season in June, as we will need to be ready for the Champs league qualifiers
  4. Motherwell are still a strong side, just the gel between players not helping them yet, as they have done what we usually suffer from in having to play with 5 or 6 new players in the team. Hope Saturday is still to early for them, as we should be able to take advantage, and with a bit of luck stick a few past them.
  5. Did we not play Celtic between their CL qualifiers in the first game between us last season, and they still whalloped us with a make shift team. Think that the Motherwell and Celtic games will show how much progress Terry has made with this team over the season. Seem to recall a 4-1 defeat followed by Celtic beating us 4-2 where we scored two late late goals. Getting points will be progress, and Im hoping for 4 out of 6 to stay TOTL, with Aberdire getting shafted this weekend!!!!

Kick off time wise, majority of players in the u20s will be full time at the clubs, however, those who were full time over the last few years were also encouraged by the SPL to attend college courses on top of the usual footie training. ( Trying to prepare them if things didnt work out ). The inclusion of some lower tier teams ( not The Rangers ) may also mean the under 20s they have may well be school / college / part time basis, which would help them get their teams together. Makes sense in the Summer, but as said will cost club a fair bit to use floodlights in Winter. The Rangers exclusion last year was partly down to the administration stuff. As they were not a viable club the new club could not meet existing standards to gain acceptance into the league ( approved coached, working with youngsters checks, etc amongst loads of other stipulations ), so they couldnt be approved for the league, one year on they were able to have the SPFL do their audits.
  7. Its only a friendly, cant get excited really. England should hammer us by 3 or 4 clear goals by rights, probably with out reply. But I will be recording the game, and watching from behind upheld fingers, hoping for the chance to gloat an unexpected world beating performance with a 93rd minute own goal winner from one of those English guys that I love to hate, Cleverly, Jones, Carrick or even Cole. Cant see it some how, but the game will only matter if we win!
  8. I would have McCulloch, Wallace, Black, Templeton and the young MacLeod who is going to be some player. The rest are showing they aint good enough, but The Rangers were without how many other better players who can not play until September. All those not allowed to play would get into our team. I believe they will all be on £5k - £8k per week, certainly the bigger names anyway. Celtic players interestingly with all the SPFL money, SKY money and Champions league money are likely to be on £2 - £3k a week more
  9. I see that Celtic have decided to shut down a section of their own stand, area 111 which is where this Green Brigade upstarts seemingly wont sit. Banned them all and offered to relocate them as they refuse to sit during games. Have to admit dont have much of a clue of what these bad bhoys are about, apart from allergy to poppies, british monarchs, anything blue and protestant. Well done Celtic, at least they are trying to do something, even if they use a false reason for doing it. Ironic that Rangers also need to get rid of their own Green brigade at the same time, you have to laugh
  10. Sky had Queen of the South winning 6 - 0, with one player scoring all SIX. He did get a hattrick, but they put him down for two each time he scored! Cracking start to the season, couldnt have been better. Can see us getting more than two minutes on Sportscene tonight, we might even get a big 5 minutes, as it will all be about Celtic lack of scoring power, Elfsborg midweek, Aberdeen re-emergance, Hearts prospects and Hibs disaster/recovery. Top of the League, looking forward to downing the Arabs next week. And hey folks, dont knock Foran, we play better with him in the team, even if he doesnt have a great game he sparks the others. We need his aggresive style, his shouting and barracking others. He is a real Captain imo
  11. For once I need to back Dougal, and the bookies. Brora, Cove, Formartine and Nairn will be streets ahead of the rest this season. Buckie, Forres, Devornvale, Keith and the Broch will be ahead of the rest. Suprise of the highland league may be Strathspey Thistle, not that they might challenge for top half, but they could be well away from the Fort, Rothes and Lossie this season
  12. 1. Raigmore 2. Ferry, Bught, Merkinch, Beauly, Culcabock. 3. 1975 Kingsmills Park. Jags v Lossiemouth. 4. Glyngore and Aarhus Denmark, but soon to be Inversneck again.

As he was 64, why not start a chant on the 64th minute, One Mickey Diamond, followed by fans applause for the minute
  14. Such a massive achievement, someone who has worked and worked to fulfil his dream, and then doubled the work to get their. To become a double champion now, in the era of the 3 best players ever is mindboggling. Andy has definately arrived at the top table, and the 4 of them will be their for a few years to come. Personally I think the turning point was losing against Federer last year, I think it gave his so much determination not to feel like that again. Well done again, so pleasing it was a Scot to win at the All England Tennis Club. If they are all so pro Union, why is it not the All British Tennis Club, And well done Alex Salmond for the wee flag, priceless.
  15. Celtic champs even earlier than last season. 2-4th between Well, Utd, Dons, Killie and Caley Thistle. Possibility of St Perth pushing for top 6, Botom 6 between Perth, Hibs, county, St Mirren, Patrick and Hearts With Partick and St Midden struggling with Hearts catching for the relegation and play offs. If County have a slow start, they could be looking over their shoulders all season long. Division 1, between Dundee, Falkirk and Morton Division 2, between The Rangers and Rangers Division 3 between Queens Park and Elgin i think Highland League will be Brora, Nairn, Formartine and Cove
  16. Who would be your choice this season. Tudor-Jones, Draper, G Shinnie, Warren. even Steve Marsala? So who do you rate that doesnt get the biggest plaudits?
  17. Fergie will tell you himself that he doesnt play any games of psychology, however, like Celtic and The Rangers in Scotland, the proof is in the pudding. Man utd games last an average of 88 seconds longer that other games in the EPL when utd were losing. Mind games, telling refs to watch certain players before games, putting pressure on the officials all the time. Refs scared to give penalties against utd, less fouls, etc etc. Believe he also spent the most money on players too, over £ 800,000,000 and pay the highest wages in Europe until the last few years. Very successful manager at Man U, but his real achievement was with Aberdeen in my opinion.
  18. I have deliberated over Neil Lennon's rant at the absence of any of his players from the Player of the Year listing. It did get me thinking, although they have won the league, they were actually pretty ordinary and below what you expect of champions in general terms. Mr Lennon mentioned several players of his bunch, Hooper, Wanyama, Forster, Commons and Wilson. My immediate thoughts were WHAT!!!!! as I could only agree with one, Victor, who has stood out a bit at times. Remember Mr Lennon, these are the guys you play against every week, your fellow professionals who voted for who they think did best in the whole league. My thoughts were from Celtic nobody had really impressed me loads. Last night, Celtic had their own player of the year awards, and it was Samaras who won, who when I thought about it, has probably influenced Celtic most this season, but in the whole I had forgotten about him, so that shows how much he stood out to me. It would be interesting to see what players did get votes for at each club. Not suprised at Andy Shinnie getting into the top 4, and probably between him and Griffiths for runner up, with one obvious winner this year. Did expect Josh Meekings to be in the young player of the year though. Anyone expect anyone else to have been voted
  19. Nobody notice Robert Eagle scored for Lowestoft Town on Saturday. Ben Greenalgh scored for Concord Rangers on Tuesday night aswell.
  20. Yeah, I dont think that has escaped the majority of fans attention. So rather than blame St Midden and Rossshire, we should all blame Aberdeen for their failure to overturn the 11-1 democracy. As popular as Maggie Thatcher in a Yorkshire mining village, **** is just trying to shift the blame for his earlier decision to break the back of scottish football. Then again if he had voted to cancel the 11-1, we might have had 12 ( 8 8 8 ) 10 10 ( 18 )!!!!! Dont know whether to boo or cheer his vision.

Hold on, you have to think about this. The last thing you want is a Scandanavian team, They will be two thirds of the way through their season, and us in pre season. Not a good idea. We really want some of the no hopers before entering the later big draws. Sammarinese runners up, Leictenstien, Andorra, Faroes etc if they get through the first round. Not Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish or even Irish Republic. Not sure of Icelandic either, as us being in pre season would be one hell of a leveller. Lets not get carried away yet, still need at least 13 points at this stage out of 6 games.
  22. No No No, first we look like a new third division team, and now the suggestion of looking like Aberdire. No thanks. Still think our home strip this season is our worst ever, just appaulling
  23. someone offer me to treble my wages in what could be a ten year earning career, Im sure I could look myself in the mirror. What the real scandel hear is how much of a waste of money Sandaza has been. 2 goals for The Rangers in the lower leagues, even Barrowman could do better.

Terrible performance from Scotland. Didnt understand Miller coming on ahead of Rhodes. Games coming up mean we will have little hope of getting off bottom. But hey it could be worse, we could have McGhee and Wee Strachan as a management duo now, onwards and ..........ehm

Playing in the U20s with more experienced pros is designed to help the youff develop, and if any of them are destined to go out on loan it is for them to gain that first team experience without hurting our own ambitions. We have signed quite a few players who have come on loan to us, who are obviously better players than we have in our own stock. Other clubs are pushing their youff into the first team, ie Dundee Utd, Killie, Aberdire, Hearts etc, but they are all sufferring as the rest of the first team are not good enough to carry them sometimes, hence why they are not currently top 6. Gaining top 6 will win us a big bonus financially, which can then be invested back into the club and its youff. Something else to consider, historically, how many players over the years have been Highlanders, who have gone on to be exceptional, hmmm a few but not too many. We have not had the facilities and history of some clubs who churn out big stars, so it will take time for this to come to fruition. Kyle Whyte, Liam Polworth, Cheyne, etc may become really good players, but we are training them for the SPL level now, not Div 1,2 or 3 , or Highland League, so even fewer will make the grade. The U20s train with the first team every day, so Doc, Mo and Tel will see their development every single day, so that may be the reason why we seem to sign or loan so many youngsters from elsehere. Barcelona are the exception as they seem to unearth major talent locally, but when you look deeper, they recruit from all over Spain, and Catalonia. Ajax also do well, but most of their youff are from Dutch dependancies all over the world. ICT have the Highlands, and what we can pinch of others when deemed not good enough for them. Any of our ex youff have not really gone onto greater things after leaving, Armstrong maybe so far, but his parents moved to Tayside whilst he was in school.
