  1. Rooney's was a penalty according to BBC.
  2. With some key players out the manager's hand was forced to some extent. But given that we already had to field a few fringe players, it's a bit surprising that Butcher didn't want to draft in the experience of McBain or LDZ at left back.
  3. I said after the good performance at Motherwell that we seem incapable of playing well twice in a row. I don't know why that is though.
  4. I know we are rubbish at home, but this is ridiculous.
  5. Shinnie preferred to LDZ! Didn't realise Golly was (presumably) injured.
  6. So what should they be doing instead? Let go of Foran and the other players who give us a chance of bouncing back up, and resign ourselves to life as a Division 1/2 side forever? Yes we are spending above our means this season, but it's a one off and worth the risk if you ask me. I would also wager that we will not be in administration in the next 5 years. If it happens though, I'll buy the club and we'll be fine.
  7. I think Johnboy's just about right, unless the rules have changed again. We might have shared McDiarmid Park rather than Pittodrie, but there was an SPL requirement that the SPL club has to have priority and control over fixture dates, which St J would not accept.
  8. Money, yes, but wasn't he at County before?
  9. I think Dundee Utd won the league in 1983 with just 14 too, and 11 of them came up through their youth system.
  10. I see Dundee have signed Derek Soutar as cover. Whilst I don't really rate him, I'd have thought that with him being a free agent since the end of last season, he would have been the sort of player we'd have looked at in the summer to be Esson's deputy.
  11. Some might say we bought/spent our way to those minor achievements, playing against part timers most weeks.
  12. I for one would love to see ICT try out three at the back at home. It worked excellently under Steve Paterson, who was very big on the 3-5-2. It was more entertaining, but what did it win us? One of the things John Robertson said when posting here recently was that he very quickly realised that to get us promoted he'd have to adopt 4-4-2.
  13. :023: :(
  14. Not necessarily.
  15. Allison may have potential, but if anything happens to Esson we would have the weakest first team keeper in the league. We'd need to somehow wrangle an emergency loan. Or get Jim Calder back.
  16. I would imagine that Tokely, Proctor and Golly, who have all played there before, would all be called upon before any of the youngsters. At some point they will be called upon, its only a matter of time. Definitely a point of potential weakness though.
  17. It's his dad, and his boss - County's Director of Football.
  18. The trick to "vandalising" a rivals Wiki page is that you have to be discrete. As Mantis alluded to, we (actually, he) had some great fun years ago rewriting the County page, using very subtle putdowns that were still there years later. Just gentle reminders of their failures, their dismal signings and their inferiority to ICT.
  19. Highlights now online, we start at 1.25 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/8271425.stm
  20. Good effort. Shame we can't seem to manage 2 consecutive good performances.
  21. Whatever happens now, that's an excellent result, especially with 10 men for the last 20.
  22. Well, changes were needed!
  23. Even that was too much.
  24. In a game where we will be under an awful lot of pressure, Duncan is needed in the middle of the park.
  25. Fixed it for you!
