Summer Transfer Window Thread
I must say I'm very happy with our acquisitions this transfer window. Nice blend of youth with the signings of Mulraney, Boden and now King, and now an experienced 'old head' in McNaughton to give cover for the defence. Considering our 'bargain basement' budget, I've got a good feeling that things are going to work out just fine. Can't wait.

Wimbledon final
Can't let Murray's fantastic performance today, and in fact over the past month, go by without a mention. He was almost flawless today. On grass, especially when he serves well, as he did today, he must be the best in the world. Wouldn't be surprised to see him overhaul Djokovic by this time next year as number one in the world rankings. Well done Andy.

How can we welcome Owain on his return from Euro 2016?
Give him a big piggy bank which he can stuff all his 'signing on' again bonus in!

Summer Transfer Window Thread
I don't think you are far off the mark with that figure you quoted in US dollars. I read somewhere that the total amount to be divied up amongst all the teams supplying players was likely to be about 115 million Euro (compared with c80 million Euro last time). At our level that would make our share comfortably in excess of 5000 euro per day. Also, payments start 14 days before the start of the tournament and continue up to the day the team is knocked out. I make that 40 days for OFW. So we could easily be getting 200,000 Euro. Even if we promised OFW half of that as an incentive to re sign just before the start of Euro 2016, it still looks like good business for us. Don't suppose we will ever find out the exact figure, but it must be better than the proverbial 'slap in the face with a wet fish'. Well done to OFW for re signing when he did.

Euro 2016 Finals
I'm so pleased for Wales. They deserved that win. Yes, they got a couple of fortunate refereeing decisions, but I don't grudge them that. Wonderful goals, worthy of winning any match. And, another few thousand in our coffers Can't be bad!

Fixture List
I too will be in Inverness for that game. I'm up there with 5 golfing pals from 24 to 28 Aug. I've been anxiously awaiting the fixture list for weeks now, just hoping for a home game so that we can boost the crowd by 6. Now all I need to do is book a golf course for the Saturday morning. Anyone know what Torvean is like these days? I haven't played it since I was in my teens, when it was still only 9 holes.

liam Hughes
I seem to remember a Cambridge fan coming on our forum when we signed Hughes saying how good he was and how sorry he was to see him leave Cambridge. Maybe he has got something that we didn't spot? Anyway, time will tell.

ATP French Open
Murray's performances at Roland Garros these past two weeks have been like the fabled 'curate's egg', ranging from abysmal to brilliant, sometimes in the same match. Yesterday, against the champion, Warinka, he was at his brilliant best I'm pleased to say, and it was a real pleasure to watch him win a match of excellent quality, with something to spare. I hope he has left something in the tank for the final tomorrow. Good luck Andy.

Muhammad Ali RIP
Sad to see the passing of Muhammad Ali. We all tend to use the word 'legend' too easily these days, but few, if any, would argue against Ali being deserving of that tag. A man of great ability, humour, compassion, and, above all, principle. RIP

Amazing
My next door neighbour is a true Wimbledon fan as well. He too has watched them climb back up the leagues from obscurity to where they have now reached. He even drove up to Accrington the other day for their play off semi final, second leg, arriving back down here at 3.30am, when he and his wife were flying off on holiday only 4 hours later!. You can imagine how pleased she was about that!. I get a lot of enjoyment out of seeing his obvious happiness. It sort of reminds me of our journey up through the leagues. I'm sure Wimbledon's first match against MK Dons next season will be be quite emotionally charged. Anyway I know who I'll be rooting for.

New Manager Thread
Great to read all the positive comments on here now that the appointment has been made. I think there is a sense of relief all round that the decision has been made. Although maybe not everybody's first choice, I think we can all understand the reasons why Richie got the job. And, to a man, I'm confident that all the fans will give him our full support. Like many others have said, I too am looking forward to the new season with a fair amount of optimism. Onwards and upwards!

Well, I suppose that was not really a surprise. The 'cheap' option some would say, but I wish him well. Four year contract shows a lot of faith from the board. Wonder if he'll keep Rice as his assistant? Good luck Richie.

ATP French Open
Easier win for Murray today against a big serving, dangerous opponent.. I see Nadal has pulled out, making it even easier for Djokovic to reach final. Pity he wasn't in Murray's half of the draw. I have to admit that I've never been a Nadal fan. He has got away with murder through the years with his blatant time wasting and gamesmanship. No referee, particularly in Europe, seemed strong enough to take him on.
