  1. One of my sons is a fanatical Liverpool supporter. Even he agrees that Benitez has 'run his course'. Things have not been right at Liverpool for some time, and even though Benitez had them challenging for league honours earlier in the season, no one now believes they can do it. Time for fresh blood, and if they lose tonight, Benitez will definitely be 'history'.
  2. What is the point of this thread? We already have Gringo's NPL thread where one can predict our results.
  3. Frankly, in what I've seen of Lionel, plus what I've read on here, he seems a lot safer than his opposite number at right back! I don't see many people asking when Tokeley is going 'to make a big mistake'? I think that is just as likely. He has been a great servant for us over the years, but if I were Butcher, I'd be looking for a right back. We're pretty well covered on the left now with Zadi, Hastings and McBain all after the same berth, but it seems we only have Tokeley and Proctor on the right, neither of whom are top drawer any more.
  4. Maybe Fort William will have a chance of getting off the bottom if this happens!
  5. All this praise for Lionel! I'm seeing double now!
  6. I think (not 100% sure) that it is on 30th May. Hope to see you all at this do on 29th then!
  7. I'm really pleased for him after the severe and OTT stick he took on here regurarly from many people. That's two 'flash in the pan' performances in a row now. How many will it take before he makes the left back spot his own? At least Butcher appears to be prepared to give him a decent chance, even if it was injuries and suspensions which forced him into it.
  8. Great result and confidence builder. I'm looking forward to hearing how everyone played from someone who attended the game. I assume that Lionel did well again as he wasn't hooked for Roy! Surely Rooney has earned a starting place now.
  9. Definitely one of the greats I remember from the wonderful Caley team of the early 50s. And, as you say, still a great goalscorer when he moved 'up the hill'. You cannot mention Mitchell without his side kick in the Caley team, 'Ginger' McKenzie. And, a little later there was the great Willie Grant of Elgin. All of these would grace our current ICT side with distinction.
  10. Good call. I'm surprised he can't get a regular first team spot somewhere. He always looked good on the few times I've seen him. Agree however that he would probably be expensive, so a loan the only option.
  11. I doubt the Hamilton run can continue. A couple of defeats and they'll start doubting themselves. I agree with those who think it will be post split before its all sorted out. Gives us an interesting end to the seson though.
  12. I'd be amazed if he came back. Doubt if he would immediately replace Esson as number one anyway, and surely his pride wouldn't let him go from being Celtic's number two to ICT's number two.
  13. Maybe I'll go to see him when Watford play at Reading later in the season. I'll have to go in the away end, as my mates who support Reading tell me its not easy to get a seat in the home end without a season ticket.
  14. As I've said on other threads, I thought he had a great game yesterday, and deserves a run in the team. For me he looks safer than Tokeley did on the right flank.
  15. Totally agree. He was outstanding today. Let's hope he gets a fair crack of the whip from our fans from now on!
  16. Just back from watching game on Setanta. Butcher's post match interview was class. Full of humour and optimism. Re the game itself, we created the better chances and could have won it despite Celtic having more of the ball. I thought Mihadjuks, Grant and Djebi-Zadi (yes, I do mean him) were immense in defense. Proctor and Tokeley dodgy. Latter was lucky to get away with a shoddy pass in his own box, which nearly gifted 'Tic a goal. Black showed more of his old commitment in mid field. Imrie was well worthy of MoM, and looked well up to SPL standard. Foran not fully fit, but looked useful. Unlucky to be given offside for his early 'goal'. Barrowman worked hard and Odhiambo looked dangerous in the few minutes he was on.Altogether a very encouraging performance. If we can continue with a good win over Killie in the cup, I think it will make all our relegation contenders sit up and start worrying. Well done to everyone involved.
  17. Totally agree. There are more pluses than minuses for ICT in Butcher's Scotland connection.
  18. Well, barring last second hiccoughs, Terry's our man. Although not my own choice, of those supposedly on the short list, I think a good choice has been made, and I wish him all the best. What a first match he has got. I'm sure he will be well up for it, and I'm sure the team will be as well.
  19. I too posted the same thing. Its just crazy to keep someone who clearly is not interested in us anymore. I'm really surprised we haven't got shot of him in the transfer window!
  20. Yes, I think it would be a mistake to reappoint Robbo. You'd think we'd learned that lesson by now. Although my own candidate isn't in the likely short list, I'd like to see the club show some more ambition than the 'easy' option of Robbo.
  21. Johnboy Good managers cross international boundaries all the time. You only need to look at the number of foreign managers in the UK to realise that. I don't know if they've been to Inverness or not. I know that Steve ( a Londoner) had never been to Exeter before he took the job there, but that hasn't stopped him doing an outstanding job. Implied in your questions is the suggestion that we should only look for replacements from Scotland. I find this a bit old fashioned, even naive, if I may say so, in the nicest way.
  22. I too agree with most of what Starchief said.

Again, welcome on board. I am sure there will be many worse recommendations then your one of Colin Calderwood!
