  • I don't have a problem with having the name of a company on the kit, but having that big sandwich mascot walking around pitchside at every game would be an embarrassment IMO.

  • That would depend on the current contract stipulations with the current pie suppliers. If you were to do a servery speed trial, subway and coffee,  v pie and a coffee. you would think pie and coffee

  • Lettuce get this right...Subway?! But gherkin aside, this is no time for platter-tudes until it's known how much money we're going to baguette.

Great to have such a well known name. Can only raise our profile higher.

I had an inkling it would be them the other week actually.  I noticed their logo on one of the leaflets in the season ticket renewal book and thought  :ponder: .

Say hello to our new mascot by the way!

well done to all at the club getting the new sponsor on board

Brilliant to get such a massive company on board but lettuce eat is still better

Would have been the perfect front-of-shirt sponsor for Toby Agdestein!

But in all seriousness, I'm glad we're being sponsored by a bread-based food company....maybe next time it could be my favourite bread-maker - Kingsmills!

There's one in the Eastgate.  I didn't know there was one in the Longman until a few months ago!

With no sense of irony, it's declared a "rolling contract"!!

Oh yeah...seems pointless having the two stores so close!

The longman one is pretty well hidden.

I can't find any other professional football team online that was sponsored by subway (on the kit) we cant be the first surely?

Just been looking up the same thing! Trying to get my teeth into using up all available puns.

But I did eventually find (sandwiched between other articles), that Liverpool seem to have an arrangement with them, but not as main shirt sponsor.

Don't want to butter up the board, but this mayo be a good deal - olive in hope.

Not on the main kit, but Liverpool and the Premiership seems quite a big deal

They also seem to be exploring other aggressive marketing areas - talk of F1, NHL Hockey over here, and there is already evidence of them sponsoring lower level grass roots sports over a number of years. for example, the community stadium in Calgary that has pitches for hire is the "Subway Soccer Centre" and they seem to sponsor leagues in Aruba and elsewhere.

Seems like a pretty good deal. Lets face it, any deal where we can pull in six figures or more on a yearly basis is not too bad !

Think Gretna were sponsored by them some years back?

Bodes well...

I hope season ticket holders can get a discount. Might we see a sub shack instead of manky pies?

Great news, is there not a boycott subway thing doing its rounds on social media at the moment though, not sure what it's all about as never actually read it?

Are we sponsoring a 1st team player or a super sub

Wonder how the sponsor will affect the shirts?  Will the sponsor be full colour on the home shirts, or will it be a white clear kind of thing?  I'm not sure a yellow and green sponsor would go well with a red and blue shirt!

And what about the away shirt?  A yellow and green sponsor on a black and red shirt will just look bizarre!

@gordieict To do with a couple of their stores choosing to stock only halal products, I live in an area with one of the highest Muslim populations in the UK and the local one to here is not one of those affected and yet there were still some BNP morons waving placards outside it last week. Happily the place was queued out the door so I didn't get the impression that any boycott was being particularly effective.
