Sad day for Scottish football

RIP

Sad day for Scottish football

It really is a sad day for Scottish football... Has anyone heard what happened to him..?

This really does overshadow the good result for ICT and all the other SPL results today.

anyone know what happened? someone earlier mentioned a seizure? my son suffers from bad one,had 4 or 5 over 2 hrs lnog, and is mega frightening,so can see why they took his nephew off

I was listening to the Motherwell v DUFC game today and apparently it was a bit worrying the way that Phil O'Donnell went down. He began showing some signs of recovery after a few minutes and was carried from the field.

During that time Billy Dodds stated how he was a terrific professional and servant to both Motherwell and Celtic and  was one of the most genuinely nice people in Scottish football. He obviously didn't realise that anything like this was going to happen whilst paying tribute to Phil.

A truly sad day!

R.I.P.

sad day for football  was a good player fro motherwell

Just like to add my condolences and thoughts for his family at this time. Always a shock when one of our Football brothers is taken from us in this way

Just shows how precious our time is here and how we know not what is in store for us!

I don't know if anyone else was listening to it but the Radio Scotland news at 6.30 had the guy who was doing the match commentary (Liam MacLeod?) oon it and the poor guy was trying to give a summary of what happened and you could hear his voice cracking.

Condolences and RIP.

A great player for Motherwell and Celtic. Words fail me. Thoughts with family and friends. Only 35 and extremely fit, doesn't seem right.

Quite horrendous and tremendously sad.

The joy of victory today is well and truly gone.

I've just read something that makes this even sadder and that is the fact that his wife and kids were at the game today.

Can't believe this. I remember Phil from his first spell @ Well. He was some player.

My thoughts and condolences are with his family tonight.

This is so sad.

My heart goes out to friends, family and those who were close to him.

I also feel for Motherwell supporters. Today should have been a truly memorable day for them, and sadly it will be, but for all the wrong reasons.

I'd like to add my condolences as well.  Thoughts go out especially to his family, but also to Well supporters, for their great seson to be marred in this tragic way.

Shocked

a real professional sportsman

as has been said already, thoughts go to his family

all thoughts go to his family and friends at this difficult time. the quickness of it all must be twice as hard to take.

I wonder if wednesdays games will go ahead, particularly motherwells.

I presume if they do there will be a minute silence.

Sad day

Rest in peace

:010: Condolences to friends and family.  Completely shocked by this, only 35 and I can only assume fully fit.  Reminds me of Marc-Vivien Foe.  A truely sad day.

I am completely shocked and saddened by this.

RIP Phil a truely gifted footballer.

This is such a terrible shock.  I'm gutted for his family, friends, club and the 'Well fans.  A great player, RIP.

I'm sure every fan will support the following post that I have put on Firparkcorner.com.

On behalf of all the fans of Inverness Caledonian Thistle may I express our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Phill O'Donnell. Also to Motherwell FC and their fans.

Phill was a true professional and ambassador to the sport and he will be sorely missed in the game.
