July 1, 200916 yr I never really rated him in the SPL but as a left midfielder in the SFL - he could be the business - whats the craic with the man who can ignite the away support ?
July 1, 200916 yr Author Now if we had an announcement to say that he is staying to prove himself - and the support of the fans - as I am reliably told that he is going to be - then the frustrating wee **** could become a Legend.
July 1, 200916 yr Now if we had an announcement to say that he is staying to prove himself Well he's got a year left on his contract. Havnt heard anything about any club looking at him.
July 1, 200916 yr If Dougie stays and doesn't feel he is now above the 1st division I think he will be a great asset next season.
July 1, 200916 yr If he stopped being such a wee ball hog then yes i think he could be a key player next season. I guess the intrest in Dougie will be gone cause of the Setanta thing.
July 1, 200916 yr I heard he's expecting to be away... I'd be happy enough if he stayed because he has offered some goals from midfield and would be a menace to defenders in the 1st division but it could be one of those instances where it'd be good for the player and club if we got a decent offer.
July 1, 200916 yr I wonder if Killie will still be looking at him. I remember hearing they were looking at him a while ago.
July 1, 200916 yr I hope TB doesnt play him upfront, hes a left winger. He will do the bussiness in the SFL.
July 1, 200916 yr He needs to get rid of the headless chicken tag, he let us down against Falkirk on the last day of the season. The boy can run about but needs to work on what he does with the ball.
July 2, 200916 yr Author I hope TB doesnt play him upfront, hes a left winger. He will do the bussiness in the SFL. Yip - Butchers persistence in playing him up front initially and then predominantly on the rite was clearly a mistake.

July 2, 200916 yr If he does stay he should be deployed in midfield rather than up front. Last season proved conclusively that he's not a striker but his energy could be put to good use in left or central midfield.
July 2, 200916 yr The fact is he is NOT a striker and needs to be played on the wing for him to make the impact he is capible of. He is a very good player when he wants to be, mixed with him playing in his correct position.

Yip - Butchers persistence in playing him up front initially and then predominantly on the rite was clearly a mistake. clearly... you were at the Motherwell game were you not?? Yes and I was also at the Midden game and Falkirk home and away - I have no problem in switching wings - at Midden was a tactical genius ploy and paid off - at Well - it worked fer one goal - but what if we had played Imrie on the left instead of McBain ? - at falkirk (home and away) - disaster. Play him on the left predominantly but allow the switches.
July 2, 200916 yr if he has been looking and hoping for some one to come in for him, i would be happy enuff if he went. Good bit of promise but not just getting there for me
July 3, 200916 yr Yes and I was also at the Midden game and Falkirk home and away - I have no problem in switching wings - at Midden was a tactical genius ploy and paid off - at Well - it worked fer one goal - but what if we had played Imrie on the left instead of McBain ? - at falkirk (home and away) - disaster. Play him on the left predominantly but allow the switches. I just think he's an inconsistent player wherever you play him you'd get good performances and p!sh ones... his left foot is a weapon though so I can understand why Butcher would prefer him on the right wing

July 4, 200916 yr Dougie will do well for us in the coming season, and hopefully get a bit more consistency which will stay with him for our SPL return. However, when I saw him this morning he was limping quite badly!
July 4, 200916 yr Maybe he got a pay rise and the limp is being caused by the additional weight in his wallet. He could perhaps get some advice on handling such a thing from the likes of Rooney or Barrowman.
July 4, 200916 yr I am surprised that there wasn't a relegation clause on their contracts to allow the inbuilt pay rises to be re-negotiated if we were relegated.
