Can Yogi maintain our momentum ?

Well the honeymoon is over from my perspective and now we need to see results. Yogi has been allowed a fair degree of time to settle in. He has been allowed to look at all the players and experiment with quite a few systems. The players appear to be in agreement with the training methods and developing a new style of play. Here is my advice !!

Brill is OK but I would hope that he has some "competition" next season.

We have quite a few defenders now that can play in a few defensive positions. Draper actually looks the part at centre half as he has the "head" to make up for the lack of pace. It would be interesting to see him pairing up with Warren.

We need to make up our minds where we are going to start Graeme Shinnie. To me he left wing back is where he should be. By playing him all over the place we may actually have prevented other clubs from looking too closely and hopefully he will stay.

Tansey is evidently earmarked as the playmaker and we have Foran and Draper who could be the holding midfielder - but that is a position that needs new blood.

Doran has simply got to be bullied in to maintaining his fitness and should be dropped when he hits a certain weight. Christie must start in the old Andy Shinnie role - and he is another reason why we do not need Andy Shinnie.

And finally we need a traditional centre forward which may alter Yogi's thoughts about wide players - in Watkins and Williams (NOT Vincent) we have a couple of potential "beauts".

And next season may be where Russell Latapy finally makes his mark and attracts players from old haunts.

Can Yogi maintain our momentum ?  Well he certainly has the "tools" for the job as long as the Board and/or Subway provide a bit of investment.

This must be one of the most "off topic" threads ever

Back to the topic I see in the p&j today the reason we had such a bad run in was due to injuries and suspensions not the fact that a new system was being introduced

Certainly didnt help not having Foran for last few games but I always thought we had decent cover and cant really agree with P&J.

Not clear in my post, it was yogi quoted in the p&j

Regarding attendances I think the family section will be pretty good this coming season.

And that is where the growth of the fan base is essential. There are many pre merger adults in Sneck. And I don't just mean the usual suspects. I mean the ones who were supporting the "bigger teams" whilst ICT was "growing". I know quite a few who went down to the a Dump on a fairly regular basis but now that ICT are on a level footing they have all turned back to their usual loves. Plus it is more expensive now to watch ICT from their perspectives. And as Dougal has oft points out there are a lot of incomers and they will have followed their own teams for years and will not just become avid ICT fans overnight. They will be the "watchers" and probably more apt to watch on the box.

And all of the above will have offspring who they will probably be desperately influencing to follow Dads team. They and the children of Sneck are the ones that we have to attract. I feel that the numbers are slowly going and probably affected by some of the crazy non child friendly kick off times. There will always be the fight against the Old Filth for allegiances. Giving them cut price or free tickets may not give us any finances in the short term but will eventually.

So as I have alluded to before it is the yoof that are our future. That will take time. And the last few times that I have been at the Dump it has been the Family Section that have started off any singing. But they will age and move along the sections. And parents must be encouraged when they see role models such as my good self.

What a modest young man, such a mature outlook too.

Especially when they see the silver bracelets and the special escort from the stadium.

Why restrict a fanbase to only Inverness when we are the pride of the Highlands.

YOGI :  ?

Means ......."You Oll getting It?"

Yep, we get that you need a break so you can come back fresh as paint and twice as energetic and ready for  .. more success!

Forget the naysayers and their ilk and set your goals high by getting us high on goals.

And don't forget to consult the oracle -- the one and only IHE. He's ITCHING to gooooo as well.

Go north and you are in the realms of an established County support and even more of an Old Filth community. It is the same story as above with the other communities although that is where we should be targeting the likes of Nairn, Forres and Strathspeys - hit Elgin and there is real history and further East and it is Aberdire country.

We do have quite a strong following in the Central Belt and Englandshire but those heads are far more likely to be seen at away games and cup ties.

I think you would be very surprised how many fans we have in all of the locations you mentioned and beyond. We could have easily taken more buses from Dornoch/Tain and Moray area to the cup final.

ICT have done a lot of good work,  sorry thats a bit of an understatement.

ICT have done a lot of terrific work looking after fans far and wide.

Time and time again you hear of ICT lending a helping hand,  children upset because their school garden gets vandalised at North Kessock, a boy getting his shirt replaced  from up North, Eagle for Caleys brother getting shown around the staidum. Healthy eating in schools.

I also believe more good news is on the way.

I think you're all missing the real issue.

As I've said before, we're in competition with Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Real Madrid etc and its a competition us and the rest of world football are losing heavily (Old Firm included).

Busing schoolkids from Tain to watch football will not work, when they can easily sit on the toilet and watch Real Madrid on their phones for free.

We've been living in a globalised world for years now and its really starting to take its toll.  Part of the reason the Old Firm readily found new recruits all over the country was the blanket media coverage given to them by the Scottish Press, there was always something to talk about no matter how pointless the gossip.

You're more likely to see kids/teenagers in Inverness and everywhere else wearing Chelsea or Liverpool tops than either of the Old Firms.  As the influence of the printed press in Scotland decreases, the number of new fans who gravitate towards the sides most overly hyped in the media they do take in, is going through the roof.

Once upon a time the fans of the Inverness clubs had a 'big' team which continued over the years until we were on a level playing field with them.  Nothings really changed in that regards, as a huge number of our younger fans will call on the likes of Liverpool or Arsenal as their 'big' team.

You cannot compete with the investment the TV firms globally have made into the top sides propoganda, so why bother.  A switch to summer football for me is the only easy solution, 3 months with no EPL games on TV and the chance to catch potential new fans attention.

You cant fault somebody in Inverness thinking 'f#ck this' when having to choose between sitting down the dump in the freezing cold for £20 on a Saturday afternoon or waiting until 5.15 for the evening EPL kick off while having a drink, with their feet up.

I'm inclined to agree with you Clacher. I also believe summer football would go a way to improving attendances and indeed the quality of the product on show.

I think a lot of football in Scotland suffers from rotten pitches in the New Year period, and would happily advocate a summer league, following other Northern leagues, but there's too many stuck in mantra that it's traditional. Got to move with the times.

In fairness to Yogi, we lost the likes of Doran for parts of the run in, Foran was out a long time as well as others. Sometimes it just trips you up like it did to us in March/April. Lots of games, injuries and suspension take their toll. Then it can be hard to regain the momentum.

So apart from tactics, winning and entertainment all Yogi really needs is TV blackouts, better weather, no injuries, no suspensions, road blocks at the Slochd, the return of Saturday afternoon football, standing areas, alcohol allowed in the stands, bars on any Old Firm followers, free buses from every town within 80 miles and free ferries and planes from the a The Islands.

Can radius of the free buses from every town be doubled please?

Let's settle at a 375 mile radius but limit it to all town or cities where their name stats in CHOR - Caley Home Outing Recruitment

It wasn't a joke - it was a reality check !!

When I used to Watch Lens then the French champions , Before the Euro it was 90 French Francs about £9 albeit a few years back.

Caley Thistle  do need a Centre Forward especially if we are to go traditional with wide players and 4 4 2 . With our wide ground

We really have to find out if Hughes is a  " man or a Moyes."

Failure is not an option. He will be judged on a top 6th  place any thing else is unacceptable in my opinion
