Motherwell -V- Inverness CT - LC

Oh no, another game incoming

On the back of a couple of desperate results, we now have the daunting task of travelling to Fir Park to face Premiership side Motherwell in the knock out stages of the League Cup. We have often succeeded when the chips are down, however even our most optimistic of fans are struggling to see how we can change our fortunes given our current resources and desire. Poor showings against Partick Thistle and Morton in the Championship were not ideal preparation for the trip to Motherwell and many frustrated fans will be giving this a body swerve. It's almost as if the team won't give full commitment to the cause, why should the fans spend their hard earned cash to flog the dead donkey.

Anyway, we live in eternal hope, but maybe this simply won't be our year.

Motherwell have been blowing hot and cold recently and two late goals for Kilmarnock saw them go down 2-1 on Saturday. Dumped out of Europe by Sligo Rovers, they opened their Premiership campaign at Paisley with a 1-0 win. Followed that by losing at home to St Johnstone before stunning Aberdeen at Pittodrie by 2-3. A 1-0 win over Livingston preceded the Killie game giving them 3 wins and 2 losses.

Our own form to be honest has been luke warm and ice cold in equal portions, however the last two games have shown us to be ill-prepared for the battle and I fear for us going to Fir Park on Tuesday night. The best we can hope for is a break from our Championship chores and come out refreshed for the rigours of going to Starks Park at the weekend. If not, it could be a long week.

Little movement on the injury front, let's see what Dodds has to say about that ahead of this fixture, or maybe just the usual smoke screens.

I don't care where we are playing , against who or when but he should be nowhere else other than at our game regardless of his role.

Loved that 2004 video, such great memories. The rapid counter attack was so exciting to watch and very effective, Barry Wilson was unplayable. How I wish we could counter like that again!

Robbo has been doing more punditry this season. I think it’s time for him to leave and we could use his wage elsewhere. We don’t need a sporting director FFS

Shaw replaced by Boyd due to an injury.

That’s 8 injured now: Ram, Welsh, Walsh, Doran, Shaw, Oakley (we assume), Samuels and Sutherland. Plus Devine not fully fit. What’s going on?

Shaw had our only attempt on goal in the first half hour too.

It's about time certain people realised who paid their wages and that it's not the BBC

Welcome back No Shin Guards! We’ve missed your wit and sarcasm!!

I thought he had died after celebrating his 102nd birthday!

I say,

Dodds out. Jack Ross in.

Eh what? 🧐

Do you ever speak properly or are you just on here to stir things up again on a night when there may well be high emotions already!

For a club that can't afford to get rid of it's manager what makes you think we can afford Jack Ross as well?

Copied from BBC Sport app:

Motherwell are looking so comfortable in this League Cup tie.

They are playing some lovely stuff, getting a lot of joy down either flanks. Debut boy Matt Penney looks like a valuable addition to the side and Kevin Van Veen, who's grabbed two goals, is also having a real influence on this game.

Caley Thistle have offered very little so far. They've not been allowed to by a Motherwell side full of intent.

I say,

No question mark in your first paragraph so I'm assuming your making a statement as opposed to asking a question.

Jack Ross needs to rebuild his reputation as a good manager. We need to rebuild out reputation as a good club. A match made in heaven.

Eh what? 🧐

Ok. I think I might have been slightly delusional this afternoon. It was a lovely sunny day, I’d had a good day at work. Both these things were as good as it got.
Two penalties and an OG. That’s quite a collection.

Something is going to have to change rapidly. That looks like a dispirited bunch of lads no matter what anyone says  - especially me

There's a whiff of something going about 🤥

An own goal and two penalties. Have we self destructed?

Oh sorry, am I giving the Manager reasons to tell us it is not as bad as it clearly is?

We’ve had 59% possession so far but only one attempt on goal! Shocking.

Motherwell have only had seven attempts but have four goals.

Hyde on for Devine.

What a terrible night for our 164 supporters at the game

They deserve all the plaudits. Hopefully a few Forum members amongst them who can tell us how bad we’ve been and whether there is any scope for optimism.

We shipped 4 against an average championship team, no surprise that a Premier team is finding it so easy.

I say,

I think I'll give the game on Saturday a miss. Couldn't find 'Raith' on my sat nav anyway. Always was dubious about the quality of it since I splashed out £2.50 on it at Nicol's in Grant Street a while ago!!

Eh what? 🧐
