Alloa v Caley Jags Nov2025

Recreation Ready

A spot of recreation is on offer as we head to Clackmannanshire to face fellow title contenders Alloa Athletic at the Indodrill Stadium in a catch-up game held back from the recent historic International week, and what a week that was. The Wasps have been on fine form recently with twelve points over the last six games, just one less than the Caley Jags and could jump into second place with a win on Tuesday night. Both sides have conceded just eight League1 goals and something is going to give. Inverness won the first encounter this season at the end of August but made hard work of it. A solitary strike by Liam Sole was all we had to show for our endeavours and we ended up just doing enough to take the points as the Wasps made a late bid to earn a point.

Since we last met League1

  1. ICTFC 1-0 Alloa

  2. Cove 0-1 ICTFC

  3. QotS 0-2 ICTFC

  4. ICTFC 4-1 E Fife

  5. Accies 3-1 ICTFC

  6. ICTFC 2-2 Kelty

  7. P'Head 0-1 ICTFC

  8. ICTFC 1-0 Monty

  9. ICTFC 1-0 Cove

  10. ICTFC 4-0 QotS

We should be set up nicely for this one after dominating Queen of the South on Saturday in the televised game. A sensational volley from Liam Sole set us up to cruise to the win in possibly our best performance of the season. Further goals from Zimba, his 11th of the season, MacKinnon, his first of the season and Alfie Bavidge rounded off the scoring a minute after coming on. Superb all over the park.

No tickets left for Tranent in the Cup. Not even for dogs woof woof. Game is a total sell out. No space at the inn...

  9. Alloa 3-0 Kelty

  10. Mont 0-4 Alloa

  11. Cove 0-0 Alloa

A couple of highlights: A 4-0 mauling of Montrose away and a 3-0 kicking of Kelty Hearts. Lowlights defeat at home to Montrose. Overall, top four credentials right there.

Alloa have one of the better squads in this league with the experience of Connor Sammon always a threat and Calum Gallagher and Luke Donnelly have done the rounds as well. Luke Rankin is top scorer overall with 6 strikes.

  • Top League1 scorers for the Wasps

  • Dave Devine: 4

  • Kurtis Roberts: 3

Alloa have kept a 4th successive clean sheet in the league for the first time since 2004!
Liam McFarlane's phenomenal 50% clean sheet rate far exceeds any other Alloa keeper in the past 15 years🔥
Alloa now have 10 clean sheets in total this season & are 8 games unbeaten

After postponing the original fixture due to players being on International duty, I really really hope Alloa Athletic lose.😁

This match is really one to look forward to. Pity it had been shunted into a Tuesday night as I feel it would have attracted (and deserved) a much larger gate on its original Saturday slot.

Anyway, to the game itself. For me this is the perfect platform for ICTFC to display whether they are capable of holding down the position and tag of div 1 promotion favourites! Put it another way ‘does the Emperor’s clothes fit’ or are they just a little bit too heavy right now.

I believe in the players and management have proved they have the ability and skills to deserve being top of the league on merit. Now they are the target for every team to knock them of this perch. It’s more a metal attitude the players have to show going forward.

A good result tonight for me (and gauge to the above) will be to come away with a victory. A draw would be for me also a sign we are ready and capable of thinking we can carry the burden of promotion favourites.

A sprinkling of luck doesn’t go amiss. Go for it lads!

I’d have been at this match if international call ups hadn’t intervened.

Our away record is very good, with just that blemish at Hamilton, and I think we can get another win.

Alloa don’t concede many (at 8, the same as us) but don’t score many either.

It could be tight and getting the first goal could be key to it, as that will make them come at us and open up space for us to cause them further problems.

We are in a good place, let’s make it even better!

Into the Christmas spirit already!!

A bit surprised we’ve made three changes but I can’t argue that Longstaff, Bavidge and Stewart deserve to be in the team.

It’s great that we have options and competition for places.

Mckay back earlier than expected too so it’s a very strong bench.

Excellent news and I would start Alfie Bavidge every game

Perfect timing......

I wish he’d waited until the first minute of the second half, screwed up my NPL halftime prediction ☹️

Ha ha. I had 0-1 at half time.

…and I originally had 1-1 full time and edited it to 0-1 - not one of my most successful days prediction-wise, but without knowing how things panned out tonight I’d have taken 1-1 before kickoff. A decent result away on a cold night against one of our more serious rivals for the title.

Not sure why we felt the need to make three changes to the side that rolled Queen of the South over.

At one point we had Saturday’s xi back on the park after the subs and finished strongly. A draw was fair though, Alloa are no mugs.

That means I get all the credit to myself because I was the only one to predict 1-1 😛😛😛.

I did have 0-0 HT and Liam Sole first goalscorer though and a very low 650+ crowd so maybe not going to gain much points.

Indeed, Alloa will be in the pack fighting for a top 4 position. I expect them to be in there come April.

From the posts it sounds like it was a good game; more’s the pity it wasn’t on a ‘normal’ game day (sat or wed)!

I’d take a 1-1 result against Alloa at Recreation Park most times and (whilst I’d prefer a victory), last night was no exception.

It's always disappointing when you are pegged back to a draw after leading, but I'd have been happy with a draw before the start (although obviously hoping for a win). The draw maintans the gap to Alloa and actually extends it at the top so I don't think we can be unhappy.

New drone working a treat then Mantis?

Yep! i can make you out in KFC car park, Chicken in one hand and controller in the other!

It was that close I just flew it straight up. Hope you're getting out with yours.
