  1. Just heard that Lee Cox is out for saturday, possibly out for a couple of weeks, so looks like Russeldinho will slot in beside Duff, if anything the team lines will look better, nothing worse than having Duff Cox in yer team eh? But in reality i'm glad Russell will be back in the team, he seems to read the game better than Cox and has far more experience.

  2. Wow, what devastation !!! Our company has several offices in Australia (as well as all over the world) and we know that many of our employees in Brisbane are currently away from work dealing with the immediate effects the flooding is having on them .... I think about 20 families in our Brisbane office have either lost houses completely or been evacuated and told they may not get back in for a long time - if ever. It set my mind thinking that we also have many CTO users in Australia, and although I know a few are definitely in places other than Brisbane, there are likely one or two in that vicinity. The best known to most of us - although there may be others - is "Gabby", a long time poster, and sometimes visitor to the TCS. I know he is (or was) in that area as we previously had a chat about the company I work for, so I just wanted to give a shout out to him and to anyone else from our membership who may be in that area, or affected by the flooding, and say I hope the flooding does not affect you too badly and that you and your families stay safe.

  7. Big decisions ahead both for the club and young Mr Rooney. Do we say no to the cash and hope that retaining Adam will help us in securing as high a league finish as possible? Where, allowing for Adam's wages and the differential in place payments, would we need to finish to justify this risk? 5th instead of 7th? (Awaits Scotty or CD with an arithmetical formula ) If the club take the risk and it backfires will we hammer them? Is a bird in the hand really worth two in the bush? How big is the bush and is it well maintained? For Adam, can he really say no to a deal worth (allegedly) ?10k per week? Is compromise in lifestyle worth the extra cash? Is the Russian league the next "place to be"? Is he prepared to take the risk that his form will be continued and other opportunities will come his way in the future? Can he risk an injury without the security of the ?10k pay packet? For me, the club need to negotiate as hard as the can for as much as they can which includes squeezing Stoke's percentage down if possible and making the player wave any right to a share. I'm pretty certain he's off and would rather take the cash now than risk nothing. As for Adam, if I was in his shoes, I'd be off if the offer we hear is true. Two seasons or even six months failure and a huge pay off, he is made for life. If we are all being brutally honest how many of us would/could say no?

  8. ....and the only time clubs raise the issue of how things are run is when they get themselves into bother and the rules/sanctions don't suit them!!! Then it's everyone elses fault and they should be the ones changing to help the affected club. Yeah, the SFA/SFL/SPL may be severely lacking in processes which serve to prevent clubs getting themselves into that much trouble, and they are found more than a little wanting when it comes to the procedures that are used to deal with it....but when push comes to shove, they didn't force Dundee to operate outwith it's means and end up landing itself in administration.

  9. Alex, I've not been in the slightest bit smug in any of my posts about Dundee's situation. Where do you draw the line with "help" and how much have Dundee, and other clubs, learned from being bailed out in the past? What message does it send out to other teams if you continually forgive indiscretions because you have a soft spot for a team....or whatever other reason you come up with for not being too hard on them? It's typical of the mentality that has not only put football in a mess, but the whole country. Those who break the rules or live beyond their means are lavished with help and kindness, whilst those who struggle by and make do with their lot get feck all in return. My sympathy for clubs who get themselves into these situations ran out long time ago....not that I would have had much for a team who managed it twice in 7 years anyway. That's a feeling which is compounded by the victim mentality that they have displayed regarding the whole thing. Since day one they've done nothing but blame everyone else and expect everyone else to be bending over backwards to get them out of the mess. If they were truly serious about putting the clubs existence above all else then they would be operating with a squad of part-time players, paying as little as they could in wages and directing every additional penny towards getting the club out of administration.....instead, they seem more concerned with trying to maintain league position and doing deals which circumvent the rules of the sanctions which have been placed upon them. Of course we are not immune to the possibilities of it happening to us. For me, that's all the more reason to be clamping down on the issues now in order to get rid of a culture which somehow views administration for any team as inevitable and almost acceptable.

  11. That was my point really, hence the little clip. We all make mistakes, being "superior" is one I'll just have to learn to live with. "And to think he'd only just come from the hospital". Back on topic, we won't have a better chance of a good run for a long time now that Killie and Hearts are out and Rangers and Celtic are drawn together. Can we hold onto Rooney though?

  12. Hellgin made it tough for us and defended very well - I thought their keeper was outstanding. They might even have snatched a goal with 10 minutes to go, when Tuffey kicked a back-pass against one of their forwards - that one could have gone anywhere. Great game to watch - in suspenders until well into stoppage time. Disagree with Hislopoffside - I thought Foran did well, plenty of commitment and a couple of decent overhead attempts - looked more likely to score for me than Rooney, who's not been looking as sharp as he has been this season. Great to see Sanchez getting that goal - that must put him ahead of Eric in the pecking order. Blumenshtein not even on the bench today - doubt if we'll see him kick another ball for ICT, and wouldn't be surprised to see him move on before the end of the month. Rooney would be relieved to get on the scoresheet after some good work by Ross and Sanchez.

  13. I used to believe that people actually took up careers as firemen, nurses, doctors, paramedics, etc, out of some kind of desire to help their fellow human beings, and possibly even save lives. A bit like those who become vets because they love and want to care for animals. I obviously couldn't have been more naive or misguided with my beliefs.

  15. It might be hard on the Glasgow/central belt based away support, but if the SPL and/or Rangers won't reconsider, I think a boycott for this one would be in order.

  16. So we weren't a good enough club for him yet Airdrie were. Oh well, see how he does at part time level. He may work his way up. I think its more like he wasn't good enough for us.
