  1. I would sincerely like them to explain to the fans - 80/90% of whom were against this setup - how 10-12 will develop the game of football in Scotland. This is pure and utter bullshit and nothing more than a cash grab by those with their noses already in the trough. It will do nothing to develop the game other than allow TV companies the guarantee of 4 old firm fixtures per year. If our club, who were quite vociferous in saying they were against this idea have capitulated, I will be very disappointed.
  2. Someone told me David Goodwillie could be going to Peterhead.
  3. I take it everyone has seen this before?
  4. First of, no decision has been made and therefore no U-turn has been made. All that has come out of todays meeting is that the clubs have agreed that the proposal be studied and that the SPL come back with all the facts and figures that will allow the clubs to make the right decision. How long that takes is anyones guess but it does give the fans more time to make noise and make it known that this could kill off the game by killing off the supporters. The people at the top have this as their agenda and are failing to listen to the paying public. They are all corrupt including Mr H. McLiesh. Strange how his review came up with the same ideas that were put forward in 2006. The only way we will be listened to is through protest. I sincerely hope the supporters trusts around the country will get together and act on the wishes of their membership. Are we going to just sit back and allow the destruction of the game and the destruction of youth development schemes in order that two clubs in Scotland can make a bit more cash. I, for one, will find this sport, and ultimately my team, become less of an appeal on a saturday afternoon.
  5. Not for the first time, Neil Doncaster chose to distort the truth - If Inverness, Hearts and Kilmarnock were in preference of 14, then not everyone is in agreement. Not yet anyway. We've slagged off our board enough over the years (often with good reason). How about a big thumbs up for George Fraser for supporting the view of the fans?
  6. Threads like this just show how fickle football fans are. The last time this question was asked on here Foran was "voted" the most important with Rooney second and Hayes coming in behind that. However, most people commented along the lines that "no one player was any more important than another", even if some might prove harder to replace. Even though people won't admit to it, the lack of "votes" for Rooney is definitely a result of the talk/likelihood of him moving on, it's how we tend to cope with rejection....the "They aren't very good anyway, we have better" defence. It happens every time we have one of these polls around the transfer window when there's speculation of a "favoured" player moving on. I'm sure IHE will be along to tell us that it's all part of our coping mechanism, that we somehow find it easier to reject than be rejected or some other thing...and he'd be right (again). Not saying it's right or wrong, it's just the way it is and we'd have to be a fairly heartless and dispassionate bunch if we all just shrugged it off and moved on without thought or feeling. Regardless of where the goals come from (open play, set piece or penalty spot), Rooney is a 20 Goal/Season Striker. Take his goals out of the equation and we're toiling towards the bottom of the table. Would others have contributed so many goals if he wasn't there? Dunno, maybe...it's all speculation. Will we find an equal or better replacement if he goes? Dunno, maybe...we've done not too bad replacing players over the past 16+years despite the regular rounds of "X Player is leaving, we're doomed" every time a transfer window comes around. Would Rooney have scored so many without the rest of the team? Not a chance....as good as we might think Rooney is, 1 man against 11 is a hiding to nothing. As for Hayes...yeah he's a good player who can make things happen and causes problems for the other team. However, take the striker out of the picture and all you have is a player who is creating a lot of hot air and the team have no final product. Even if you were to credit Hayes with setting up every goal Rooney scored (that didn't come from the spot or a set piece), it's not all that impressive a statistic. Is that because Rooney is wasting chances, or is it because we have a rose tinted view of just how much Hayes provides? Who knows, I imagine we'd get 10 different angles put forward in response to the question and each of them would be subjective and based on our own view of the player. So what's the answer? Who is the most important player? Neither or both and you are free to take your pick....personally I'm not going to lose sleep over it. In the past 16+ years we've been in this position more times than I care to remember, and on almost every occasion we've come out the other side of it doing pretty well (on the park, if not necessarily on the bank book). In the modern game, players moving on is almost as certain as death and taxes, so why sweat it and why turn it in to some kind of competition to either big up or beat down a player who is looking to ply their trade somewhere else? Players come and players go, but so long as ICT remains I'll be happy enough.
  7. Just arrived back in sneck, good night out in Embra last night, as Mantis says once back on the M8 and the heater going well we all agreed that a draw was ok, and that the game was pretty good despite the weather, Spoke to Ryan Esson tonight and he tells me conditions on the pitch were terrible, high, blustery winds lots of rain and the pitch was mostly mud away from the centre part of the pitch. I thought the game was quite entertaining, both teams went out to try and win it which was fair enough, it was always looking like first goal the winner though. Social club was good craic with Dude managing to entertain us much to the heid barmans chagrin. Highlight of the awayday fans day out must have been Johndo's attempt at standing up at half time and almost succeding in a back flip over two rows of seats ( the seats are now ok), stewards were fine, allowed everyone stand for the whole game and never bothered anyone except dewsbury, who was on a one man annoying mission. As for the game, again almost everbody did well, Shane is no bad but not as a right winger, he was read by the left back and his moves became so predictable he was picked off time after time. dont put him there again Terry... please, the boy tried but he's no got the skill to be a winger. Well impressed with Shinnie, after his struggle to contain Humphrey at TCS he read the wingers plays this time very well and only got clear from the youngster once i think. Ross was also impressive as his feet seemed to adapt to running in mud better than the heavier players, Sandshoes and Eric came on late, but to take Russell off and leave Shane on was a feckin mystery! they really didnt get time to warm up and get involved. Oh how i wished for Foran to slip the ball under the keeper, as said above, it would have been the winner, but i've seen Foran have better games - a lot better, never mind its a clean sheet and Ibrox holds no fear for these guys. MOM, mmmm Ross-just, Ryan was good, Russel did a lot of work off the ball spoiling, Shinnie did well but needs to work a big bit on his ball delivery.
  8. Just watched the Motherwell highlights. Why oh why are the SFA so pro county? That handball was clearly in the box. My mate said that his mate was in school with the nephew of whoever the ref was, and he told me that he knows for a fact hat the ref is a county fan. He even had a Neil Tarrant window sticker on his car. I think we should move our club to England and play there as it's quite obvious, that all the refs in this country, are against us. I expect that the decision will be discussed for three months and I fully expect our chairman to get his lawyers on the case.
  9. It's not really a vote, it's a which is your favourite and if it's the same as ours and your stupid enough to give us all the information we need to steal your identity on a non-encrypted web page then we'll stick you in a prize draw.
  10. can you play from behind bars?
  11. I'll wait and see what happens once the dust settles and the facts emerge but I'm pretty scunnered with football at the moment and if the 10 team SPL goes through then I can see my interest dwindling to the point I won't bother renewing my season ticket or attending many, if any, games. This isn't an argument about being a 'real fan' or all that nonsense as I've watched ICT home and away regularly since the 3rd Division days so I've nothing to prove to anyone on that front. There comes a time though when you realise the absolute p1sh is being ripped out of you and as a fan you are of little or no consequence to those who run the game. Financially I can't see how a set up which includes 22 teams makes more sense than one with 14 or how a more competitive league is bad for football and subsequently business. When you add it all up against the hassle you get from Police and stewards at so many grounds, the crazy ticket prizes, the repetitive nature of the games and the generally low quality on display I start to wonder why I should bother sacrificing my free time and disposable income? Self Preservation League indeed.
  12. Join My Facebook Group "say not to a 10 team SPL". its a good place to all collect for starters...then decide on what to do
  13. I think these smilies are appropriate for today : notlistening : (the SPL doing what it does best to fans) : nanananana : (we're gonna do what we want anyway) : bullshit : (what this is) : slapme : (D'oh) : shrug : (What can you say) : oops : (what they will be saying in 2 or 3 years time) : tosser : (fans' opinion on the decision makers) : clown : :clown: (to be used in multiples to represent the SPL committee deciding this)
  14. Why was there such a dramatic u-turn from ICT, Hearts, Duundee Utd, Killie and St Mirren? This vote needed 11/12 to vote in favour of it. I have to say...I was quite pleased, as i thougght this LUDICROUS idea was dead in the water two weeks ago!
  15. Transfer window is very quiet. Lack of movement and the small sums being quoted surely shows how much trouble our game is in or, at last, clubs have finally realised you can't spend what you don't have! As for Craig Brown, I think he'll do a great job full stop and hope he does (aside form ICT games obviously!). Scottish game needs a strong Aberdeen both economically and on the field. Good manager who never got the credit he deserved.
  16. Don't think it would have been a soft penalty. His hands were miles above his head and he was a good few feet in the box. Looked one of the easier decisions of the season.
  17. Hmmmm - - Esson - - Tokely - - Cox - - Duff - - Duncan - Ross - - Sanchez - - Foran - - Shinnie - - Sutherland - - Rooney - Lets go nuts and attack them from the off. They'll never know what hit em!
  18. Maybe someone should call him a waah-mbulance. According to the P and J, the waah-mbulance driver was on his tea break.
  19. Hope the dude wakes up today and realises the amount of sweet talking it took to save him from being chucked out. Hope also he got many good pics for all his staggering efforts Thanks guys I was speaking to some stewards in the bar after game and they were saying that the supervisor(the one who had a problem with me for some reason ?) had been reported by a number of stewards after the game to the Head Steward, for his behaviour and attitude. Apparently he is not normally at Motherwell, and the local stewards didn't appeciate the way he spoke to myself and a few others.
  20. Hayes has a rarer talent than Rooney, and surely strikes more fear into opponents than anyone else we've got. And our results without him speak volumes too. Alex, yes its a team game but some players are simply more important than others. That's why we have different wage levels.
  21. Was only trying to say that the way the Government and Police are, if this was a Muslim publicly saying thngs that could induce hatred, then they would be getting severely reprimanded. Just because its sport doesnt make it alright. Any way, the man at the top, Mr J Reid, seems to back everything that conspiracy theories against Celtic mean, and this from what is meant to be a upstanding former member of Parliment. Every team at some time doesnt get the rub of the green ( no pun ), and a poor run of luck. But it often happens to the teams near the bottom with a bad team. We could easily complain plenty about some refs and decisions against us. You never hear them complain when a player dives to win a penalty, or free kick, or score an offside goal, or get away with a booking when it should be a red. To me both Rangers and Celtic are the most physical teams in the league, and for years it has amazed me how they get so few bookings and red cards, yet when they play in europe this average seems to go up horrendously - it that cause refs arent biast towards one or another. The real issue sometimes is your team werent good enough on the day or the night. See Rangers didnt have a problem scoring against the Accies, but Celtic should have easily outscored a poor Accies team with injuries and poor form but their team couldnt muster a goal from open play. Hamilton have probably not had much luck this season, injuries and so on, but often that luck will change somewhere along the line - just hope its not to soon for them. However the blocking what they are saying, no, they can still say it but not to the press. Thats something they should sort out in meetings and through discussions rather than slagging things off in the press. How would Celtic like it if the SFA and SFL started slagging Lennon for his players behaviour, or his behaviour, or the Clubs. Oh hang on a minute, they have started to publicly criticise Celtic. If they dont back off , both of them, and sort their differences in private, it will be the whole of Scottish football suffering again. Neil Lennon is just the puppet the public are seeing saying these things, but the thoughts of the board must be exactly the same, as thet certainly havent distanced themselves from his remarks. Yet if it were us or County that we shouting our mouths of about south bias, we would have been dealt with by the SFA and SPL severely by now
  22. If the transfer speculation was about Hayes I bet you'd all have voted Rooney though !
  23. At least Dundee now know for sure what they have to do to avoid relegation and I'm quite sure they'll manage it. They just have to get the financial side in order which is a much harder task.
  24. OK, so it seems that we have a continued consensus that a 10 team top league is not acceptable to the fans on this thread.....so what do we do about it? Are people really that outraged that they are willing to step up, take action and be counted or are they just full of hot air and going to do as they always do....sit back and hope that someone else will fight the fight for them?
  25. I wouldn't mind seeing how Rory would cope now he's matured a bit (as back up initially then see how it goes), could be worth a chance and I'm sure TB & MM know who the want IF Adam goes.
  26. -1 points
I think we should have songs for every player in the team, so far the only players I can think of us having a song for are Hayes, Rooney, Esson, Foran, Odhiambo, Tokely, and Cox which leaves quite a few who are "songless". My suggestions would be: For Nick Ross - Nick Ross will tear you apart again to the tune of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" - http://www.youtube.c...yy1ToI&ob=av3nl For Dani Sanchez (yes it's slightly gay ) - I'm your biggest fan I'll follow you until you love me Dani Sanchez, Dani Sanchez to the tune of Paparazzi by Lady Gaga Any more?
