  1. Agree with this. I can accept being beaten by the better team if we have made a good account of ourselves. However too often recently we have been 2nd to too many balls. There has been a lack of closing down and pressuring opposing teams, thus giving them too much time on the ball. Several players look also a bit disinterested for whatever reason. I find these things hardest to take as I accept we will never be the most skillful team in the league, but these are things that can be changed and should not really be happening. Motivation should be high at the moment as the players have the chance to make ICT history with a top 6 place in contention. I have also heard that the 'clear the air' meeting did not resolve everything as has been reported, but I guess that's just hearsay.

  2. From a neutral point of view it was quite a good game and the one thing I like about the result is that niether of the two can now boast of winning a treble.

  3. Ha ha, Dougal's logic is comparable to that of the 'never wrong' Donald Rumsfeld. When challenged on his belief that the Soviets had vast numbers of nuclear missiles hidden from all the declarations, and which necessitated the US building and developing even more, he replied that the lack of evidence was in fact evidence of the success of the Soviet deception, and thus of their existence. Dougal similarly argues that the lack of evidence of any significant number of refuseniks is evidence of their great numbers. My my, you have to congratulate the refuseniks on their brilliant disguise and secrecy, since nobody can find more than enough to form a football team. Perhaps Dougal would like to do MU and start a new team called Telford St in the Welfare League, since he believes that thousands of supporters would come out of the woodwork. I can't wait.

  4. I think your right Beer Monster! Back on subject, Esson is the best keeper we have ever had at this club and it beggars belief why he was dropped in the run-in in the relegation season?

  5. A draw would probably have been a fair result. Both teams weren't exactly great, not many clear cut chances, pretty poor game. Odhiambo had the touch of an elephant, Rooney was isolated on his own a lot of the time and was left to run after long balls. If he did somehow manage to get to them, there was nobody in sight to help him. Bizarre decision to take him off - I would have gone with two up front as we were one goal down so where was the harm in going for it? Some baffling decisions by the referee but that doesn't meant we would have won if he had made the correct decisions. Gillet looked good when he came on. Since both he and Shinnie have been out, we have really been lacking a left back. Munro hasn't been bad in that position, he just doesn't offer us as much going forward as these two do. I really think that we should be playing with two up front. We played much better in the games where we moved Foran up top with Rooney. We are chasing a place in the Top 6, we need to go out and try to win games. Since this is not happening with our current tactics, and has not been happening for quite some time, it's time to try something else.

  7. I watched it late last night on Alba. How sad is that? In the old days we would have said it was a typical mid table end of season game. Nothing to play for. But with top 6 still up for grabs there was a strange lack of urgency about us. Dundee Utd were there for the taking, clearly below par after 5 games in 10 days. But we seemingly could not motivate ourselves to give it a real go. Had this form over last 3 months happened at the beginning of the season I have no doubt that Butcher would have been long gone by now. Our early season good run bought him time, but he badly needs to motivate the team for an end of seson push. Somehow ending up 9th or 10th will seem like a poor season, even though, realistically most of us would have settled for that at day one. Come on lads, give us just a little more to be proud of in the last few games.

  8. Glad to hear the night was a success , couldn't make it ( not really my scene ) but would gladly contribute to the funds if there's a way of doing so . Would it be possible to make a donation via Paypal ?

  9. Roger you seen it as I seen it. I dont know whats going on with our team but somethings amiss. There was no communication among players. Indeed it was like watching ten guys who'd only met today for the first time. Something is very wrong at ICT. A couple of weeks ago there was talk about how the managers and players got round the table and had an open and honest discussion about the problems and the word was that all had been sorted and everyone was friends again. After then we went out and hammered Motherwell and were close to beating Celtic. Today we're back to pre then. Where is the team that works for each other? The team that fights for everything and anything? The team that punches above its weight? Where is the TEAM? The last time I seen an ICT team so disjointed was when Charlie Christie was struggling to get everyone to play around Niculae.

  10. Another pointless poll. Can I start a poll asking how many people are interested in pointless polls? Then start another one asking how many people are interested in pointless polls about pointless polls?

  11. Someone famous once said "there are lies, damned lies and statistics". Far be it from me to give Dougal a lecture on research methodology but I think everyone other than him will recognise that his conclusion is complete and utter nonsense. He refers to only 24 folk voting. Had nobody voted at all then presumably he would have claimed that there were even more refuseniks because they have all stayed away from having anything to do with ITC. Had 240 voted then he would have claimed that the high number of people who thought there were a lot of refuseniks proved that was the case. What ever the result, Dougal claims it proves his point. Get real, Dougal. The fact that only 24 people voted demonstrates that the vast majority of people who have read any of this thread think it is such a non issue that they can't be bothered to vote. The vast majority who watched the 2 former clubs are now fully behind ICT and delighted about the success the merged club has had. Some people have refused to watch the merged team - how many, I neither know nor care. What I do know is that I have greatly enjoyed the rise and exploits of ICT over recent years and those who have not shared the thrills over the years have missed out and only have themselves to blame.

  12. I think you're gonna have to explain your logic there. Surely the most relevant stat from the poll is that over the course of a week, hundreds of people have viewed it but only 24 took part. I'm afraid the fact that only 24 have voted leads me to think that the number of original Caley or Thistle fans on this forum are neglible and backs up my claims about the numbers of refuseniks dougal What utter b0llocks, your foggy eyes and misty brain cant see it can they? nobody cares anymore, well nobody except you.

  13. Oh for the love of God perhaps a better poll would have been - 'How many people still (or ever did) care how may refusniks there are?' (aside from Dougal) If people don't want to support ICT in one way or another very little is going to change their minds, regardless if it is due to allegiances to clubs that no longer exist or perhaps they find TCS a bit cold, maybe it's due to the crap pies or indeed that Tokley scares them. Whatever the reason and however many there are, why give a :******: they have made their choice and I for one see that as the end of it.

  14. Brewster's sunbed was moved out to create space for Jimmy's super duper sunbed. The Golden Jimmy sunbed model design is based on Rossco's shin pads.

  15. Well said DD! You've called it spot on. The only reason I find any interest in this topic is totally academic since I followed and studied in great detail the entire merger process which is still of that kind of interest to me. Other than that.... * A merger took place in 1994. * Some people didn't like it. Their prerogative. * But all the same it resulted in Inverness being projected from the Highland League to the SPL in a single decade and around five times as many people come to watch football in Inverness now, and in a 7700 capacity stadium, compared with the pre merger days - so who gives a toss!!! "They will none of them be missed!"

  16. I know its a bit late in the day but I'd still like to say a 'Very Happy Birthday' to someone who does a great deal for our club behind the scenes. Someone who I've met and had some good chat with over the years. Someone who tends not to post much nowadays but who still looks in from time to time. Happy birthday Les Kidger.
