  3. Aha, my specialist subject........ The friendly in question was played on March 28th 1983. My 10th birthday to be precise. The reason I remember this game so vividly is that this was the first game I'd ever been allowed to go to unaccompanied. From this game onwards I barely missed a home game until I left Inverness to go to Uni in Aberdeen. This was effectively the game that triggered the madness which has lasted for almost thirty years. The fact that we got humped four nil should possibly have been a sign of things to come. Kevin MacDonald was the big draw for us Howdenenders but a certain jug-eared lad by the name of Lineker also featured. Ian Wilson (ex Elgin City and later Scotland) was also in the Leicester line-up. I'l dig the programme out tonight and stick the team lines up. Might get a wee bit teary eyed listing the Caley side. I think I'm right on saying there was a copy of said programme on e-bay last week - might still be up if anyone's that way inclined.

  4. Smee I remember Kevin well. He was a prefect in the high school when I started there. Still have some old school mags from then. Thevhighcschool also had a good football team then with several players who went on to play highland league. Btw I agree that he is the best player to come out of the highlands but fun illy enough this has been debated recently with cowrie playing at wembley.

  5. I wonder if they can be deducted another 10 points for bringing the game into disrepute by screwing up the (not) going into administration process? Also have to wonder if there will be any backlash from actions taken with "administrative powers" when those powers never actually existed!!! You know it's bad when you feck up fecking up...lol

  6. I can see the headlines Ross County duped by travelling folk. I cant understand it they seemed so nice, They turned up and asked if we needed any work doing and we mentioned that we needed a new stadium, they walked around and gave us a price, it was very reasonable only £748,000, they turned up tidied the place up a bit and we havent seen them since. We have informed the SPL that we also have a plan B to fall back on, as we have applied to 60 minute makover.

  8. It is really difficult for the youngsters to advance without a reserve league. In the current set up either the kids get drafted straight into the first team (and probably only because first choice players are not available) or they go out on loan to SFL teams and away from the set up that is nurturing them. Both options can be difficult. A reserve league is a step up from the youth leagues and allows them to play alongside hardened pros in the twighlight of their careers. This teaches the youngsters so much about the game and prepares them much better for 1st team football. In England even teams in the 5th and 6th tier of the non-league game have reserve and youth teams. I can't comment on the attitude that our youngsters have but not having a reserve team to aspire to can't help. The better youngsters may get into the first team squad but then never get a game whilst the next level simply have to look for a lower league club when they are too old for the youth team. With a reserve team the better players get the benefit of regular games at a good level whilst the "also rans " have something to aim for and it allows the late developers to come through. This is just another reason why Scottish football is going down the pan.

  9. Have us as the plan A till the Autumn and get VP sorted properly including USH and drainage, sell the turf to the Dingwall dafties and relay some new turf. We get some cash, they get a better home, theyll save money in the long run regarding drainage and the central belters still have to suffer the A9.
