isnt it odd that nobody cared when Di Canio was manager in the lower leagues of England - governed by the same FA body and reported by the same sections of the media.2 points

The great and the good are seething at the appointment of Paolo Di Canio as manager of Sunderland AFC, mainly because he has been quoted as saying that he is a 'fascist'. He said at the time that he was a 'fascist not a racist' and has claimed the quote has been taken out of context. Given he has a tattoo of Mussolini on his back and Il Duce on his arm, that's some context we are missing! Would you care if our manager had 'shifty' political views or affiliaations? If Terry Butcher came out as a member of the BNP or a committed supporter of Tommy SHeridan's People Front For Pollokshaws Swingers (Marxist-Leninist) would you leave your Caley scarf behind? Personally I'd find it a bit weird and would prefer that footballers stuck to football but lets be honest, if a manager or a player won the team trophies would you be fussed ifhe liked Mussolini or Stalin or Pol Pot?1 point

Under 20's had a brilliant comeback this afternoon at St Mirren. 1-0 down at half time and down to 10 men in 1st half injury time Saints went 2 nil up early in 2nd half, but 3 goal, the last in the 94th minute won the match for ICT. Someone will fill in names as I have no idea who scored or got sent off.1 point

Some of you may remember a few months ago ICT signed Portugese winger/striker Andre Martins. This was after a trial just after the start of the season, before hearing nothing more about him until his bizarre appearance on the bench in the 1-1 draw against Hearts a couple of months later. The following Tuesday, ICT had an U20 match which I was at and Martins played in. To be frank, he was terrible. His past is a funny thing as well. Representing Portugal a few lower levels and having spells in Venezuela, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Peru, Finland and Mexico, along with a spell with Fulham and trials at Dundee United, Morton and even Bayern Munich! There was also talk of Dundee and Partick looking at him a few years ago. Interestingly though, for many of these clubs he'd been punted fairly quickly, often (as in our case) failing to make an appearance, but always seeming to find a new club afterwards. I was having a week look earlier to see what he was up to now and amazingly he seems to be playing top division football in Brazil with Goias! That's when I came across this article (translated into English) - http://www.futebolinterior.com.br/clube/goias-go/253570+Goiano_Goias_contrata_meia_com_passagens_pela_Selecao_Portuguesa_Sub-20 Is he sending people videos of the other Andre Martins who plays for Sporting Lisbon? Is this how he seems to get club after club, despite hardly playing any matches? Did ICT sign him up on this video? What on Earth is an Arica Portal to Earth?! Sounds to me like Mr Martins is nothing more than a hooligan touting himself to any club he can find, in search of a quick buck. This does then beg the question - Were we conned?1 point

Ah but we don't know if he was gritting his teeth at the time or crossing his fingers lol!1 point

Why shouldn't we talk about it? Whats the point of a ICT football forum if we can't talk about possible future events which are quite exciting to discuss. This forum has NO effect on the players and management, it doesn't add pressure or relieves any, it's just a place where people chat about ICT. If we don't qualify for Europe I'm sure Terry won't be saying "It was the fault of people on CTO for adding unnecessary pressure on the boys".1 point

Think it would depend for me if their political views started impacting in their job as the team's manager in a negative way. If someone was to come in and say "Hey, no black players will be welcome here", I'd have a problem with that. I think in this case it's a bit of a sensationalised story. Particularly when you consider that the likes of the BBC were happy to have Di Canio writing an online column for them when he was at Swindon.1 point

I would care if he was an extremist. Conservative, liberal, democratic socialist, green? Pffft, who cares? Racist, Islamic fanatic, fascist, extreme mysoganist etc? Beyond the pale for me. Some things are more important than a ball in the net. If I was a Sunderland fan, I'd be giving up all interest for a while.1 point

Why would he be number two? He has been more reliable than Ryan this season and has barring a couple of games after the cup exit been 1st choice. I'm not having a 'girn' about nothing, we have a talented player who wants to play at ICT next year but who is being sidelined in favour of someone who hasn't been as good.1 point

Disagree. Over the years Rangers and Celtic have dominated Scottish football and they and their supporters have treated other clubs as training fodder from which to poach the best players. In Rangers case it became apparent that not content to be one of the two biggest clubs with levels of income that the rest of Scottish football could only ever dream of having, they were using all sorts of dubious financial means to further their aims. Now they have been found out and are briefly suffering the consequences in the wilderness of the lower reaches of the league structure. Having been mocked and patronised over the years for supporting my no hope North of Scotland team - my local team - I make absolutely no apologies for taking the opportunity for having a dig or two at Rangers and the discomfort of their fans whilst they languish in the lower divisions. Of course we must celebrate our own success, but the fact that this success comes at a time when Rangers are out of the picture makes it so much sweeter because our success has been built around sound financial management. Contrasting our success with their stuttering rehabilitation illustrates a triumph of honest endeavour over the shady wheeling and dealing of big business and the bully mentality. Don't see anything pathetic in that. In any case. let's not forget the age old custom of the bragging rights of the football fan. We certainly have bragging rights over The Rangers at the moment, so let's make good use of them whilst we can. As sure as night follows day, The Rangers will buy their way back to the top of Scottish football in 3 or 4 years and we will again be subjected to the usual patronising disdain. Don't be such a killjoy - enjoy it whilst you can!1 point
