  1. What on earth will it take to persuade you to take a trip to the Longman on a Saturday afternoon ? I know football is a bit on the pricey side but ICT have consistently had the cheapest matchday experience in the top tier. We had to wait over a century before the Scottish League let us join their exclusive little club but now boast the second most successful team in the entire land playing attractive football and unbeaten at home all season. The population of Inverness and surrounding area is at record levels. Surely surely you could abandon the Retail Park and back our local heroes with more than our loyal core of a paltry two and a half thousand. We used to get those sort of crowds for routine Inverness derbies in the Highland League when the population of the town was not much more than half what it is now.
  2. For me, the biggest issue at present is that there's too many people going around pointing out everything they think is bad and using it as a stick to beat the club when there's not a lot can be done about it. The worst of which comes from the press and bloggers such as the above who make statements of (so called) fact, but have little or no evidence to back it up. What chance do the club have of attracting people when "fans" are spouting off like that telling everyone the place is a shit hole?! Maybe the answer is that they try a change of tact by talking up all that is good...and there's plenty...and giving people the reasons to come to games instead of reinforcing whatever reasons they might have for currently not bothering?
  3. But to be fair to some of the initial detractors on her Yogi has altered his concept and has veered from the total football approach. But that to me is a good thing.
  4. Gentlemen and Ladies of the Jury, please read on:- http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30150601 That's it. "Nuff said". Kind regards . S.P.
  5. Kingsmills and others are right, we desperately need new ideas that will attract new fans to TCS to watch what might be the one and only season that Inverness has a stellar team capable of mounting a sustained challenge at the League and who knows, a cup. ICTFC and CJT have tried - not always with the greatest of publicity - to get people through the doors. To do it you attract people by accentuating the positives, laying out the reasons that people should come down. It's hard to get that message across outwith CTO, but we keep trying. And then someone with access to mainstream nationwide media comes up with that above. I can see why Caley D is frustrated by it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but just detailing a list of reasons not to come and suggesting the cure is a new stadium which we could neither site nor afford doesn't help. Please support the pay what you want/ can initiative. Use it as a means to bring someone with you who doesn't normally come. Organise a minibus or a taxi from your local. Get your kids along. All it takes to increase crowds is not building an unachievable new stadium, it's individuals using their influence. 500 extra people every game would make the difference, and I'll make sure that I bring along a couple. How's about you? PS: The pies aren't that bad are they!?
  6. We should, without doubt, talk up the many things that are good but I am not sure that those who speak for the club jumping down the throat or making sarcastic comments about fans with sincere and constructive criticism helps much.
  7. Nothing to add to what's already been said other than to say keep up this level of performance and sharpen the finishing a bit and there's no reason why we can't still be occupying the same heady heights in the league at the end of the season.
  8. What happend to lewis Horner?
  9. The dripping-tap method isn't getting through to me! OKay!
  10. We've done really well keeping the majority of our squad intact over the past few seasons - having the players committing to extended contracts has been key to team continuity and harmony, as well as sending-out the message that Inverness CT is a more than 'viable' place to progress one's career. However, time seems to have flown (!) and many of these guys are approaching the expiry date of their contracts... All 9 are important, for different reasons - I would love us to retain all of them, obviously! Shinnie - goes without saying. The best left-back in the league. That said, I agree with the manger, another season with us would benefit both. Devine - not a first-team regular, but certainly the immediate pick if/when Warren or Meekings are out through injury or suspension. Tansey - has been a revelation since returning. Certainly a better, more 'rounded' player after his spell down south. Polworth - a squad player, but holds his own whenever needed and whose best years are yet to come. Would be a waste if he was released, to say, Elgin! McKay - proven goal-scorer at Scottish Premiership level and a vital player for us - I'd expect renewed interest in Billy, come January. Raven - a mainstay of the team, for a few years now - often unspectacular but reliable and seems settled here. Ross - Nick's a local lad, but sentiment aside, is a terrific player with an abundance of experience for his age. Keep! Watkins - outstanding this season. An integral part of the team who must be kept. Meekings - improving all the time. Will certainly be drawing attention, but at 22 should be looking to develop further, with us, for at least another season.
  11. Indeed. I suspect that never again in my lifetime will ICT be joint top of the Premier League in December. In that respect, this is as good as it gets, so let's enjoy and appreciate what we are seeing just now.
  12. Great to hear. Thinking out of the box is maybe the way to go tbh. I personally wouldn't have thought of inviting volunteers.
  13. I was at the start a critic but like the players I am now a believer, on this occassion its great to be proved wrong.
  14. We are currently going through a privileged phase in our history in terms of management, players and backroom staff. Believe!
  15. Great performance and on another day McKay and Watkins might have both grabbed hat-tricks. In regards to the crowd, home gates (again) exceeded what was forcast/budgeted for by the club and it was good to see the tickets for volunteers initiative being well received....many of whom were first time visitors and one small group I spoke to said they were made to feel very welcome by those around them and would definitely be back.
  16. I can't wait to see the highlights...great to see Billy scoring again. Is Marley Watkins the new Andrew Shinnie (or better), Yogi seems to have him playing in a similar role, I am glad he is doing so well, when I first saw him last year he struck me as being a very useful player Also another goal from a CB...nice one Josh
  17. Looking back, Motherwell's goal was their only clearcut chance of the whole game - and that came from a defensive shambles on our part. That in itself tells you how much we dominated. We looked superior from the get-go but we seemed to be playing in second or third gear till the opening goal. Mckay's finish was that of a striker who has his mojo back. Christie's through ball was beautiful. For Mckay's second half miss, I assume he had a pretty tight angle? If anything, Watkins hitting the bar from six yards out was worse! I always felt a little nervous at 1-1 but Watkins' goal knocked the stuffing out of Motherwell and it could have been five or six by the end. Not the best performance from us this season, but it was still pretty good and more than enough to beat today's opponents, who look like real relegation candidates. That's eleven game unbeaten at home, going back to April 1st. That's a heck of a record! A special shout out to Graeme Shinnie, who I thought was sensational today, both in defence and attack. Clearly he let all the guff with his agent go right over his head.
