  1. Yes it could all change again on Saturday. Our Fat Lady is at the dress rehearsal stage (for the Top Six - at the moment) and it is now out of our hands. We need to win both our games and hope that Dungdee get hammered and Tinkerville draw with Plastic Whistle. BUT if we win at Tannadump we go 15 points in front of the Arabs with 5 to play - lose and we are 9 points in front with 5 to play. And then there is also the remaining Jam Tart game. We win both and Killie get beat then we go into the split able to forget about the Arabs and 13 points and far superior goal difference in front of Killie. Lets ensure safety and start planning ahead and putting some youngsters on the park.
  2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35974305 I'm sure those at the top in the Scottish game will be happy, but already next season is starting to loose its appeal - obviously we are struggling, but I expect that for the next 4 months this is all that the media will write about. All the bigotry, bile and sectarianism will be forgotten as we are all supposed to rejoice at Armageddon ending - sadly I doubt most fans outwith the 2 ugly clubs will agree. I do find it interesting though, that a club humped last year so convincingly in the play-offs by an average Motherwell now have a test against Celtic in the cup, almost as if to let them gauge where they sit in terms of squad quality and preparation - a cynic would think its almost fixed? The re-birth of the SPFL was fun while it lasted, while some would say this is the resurrection of Scottish football, I think its more likely the death of much of the positivity and 'fun' over the last few years.
  3. I was so sick of hearing about "Rangers" from the news and sport on Radio Scotland this morning then the phone in as DD mentions above after 10 minutes I switched over to Radio 2
  4. I don't know how many people heard BBC Radio Scotland's phone-in this morning, but I think Louse White must have been sitting in the studio with her "The Rangers" top on. The question being asked was "Do you welcome Rangers' return to the Premiership?" White was getting very aggressive with folk who calmly pointed out that Rangers had been liquidated and that "The Rangers" were a new club who will be entering the top flight for the first time. Her stock answer was "Yes, but it's the same club". Well done Willie from Inverness who made the point very well! Will the presence of The Rangers make the top flight stronger next year? Very probably, yes. But that is not the point. The point is that Rangers went into liquidation as a result of years of incompetent and criminal mismanagement leaving many individuals and small businesses with unpaid debts. The appropriate authorities then allowed a new club to be formed and gifted them the assets of the former club. The appropriate authorities then failed to apply their own rules about clubs applying to the SFL to have a minimum of 2 years audited accounts, and allowed "The Rangers" immediate entry into the league structure. The appropriate authorities then decreed that a man who has several convictions for fraud was a fit and proper person to be chairman of The Rangers. The appropriate authorities have since allowed the Rangers to buy success. They have allowed the club to operate with a massive operating loss so that it can borrow large sums of money to pay better players. Finally after all this collusion by various "appropriate authorities" "The Rangers" have finally made it to the top flight. Meanwhile all these various authorities collude with others, including the BBC, to call the new club "Rangers" as if it is exactly the same club and that the whole shameful episode was just a temporary blip in the history of the club. Of, course, the only regard in which the club does not want to be considered one and the same with the old club, is in honouring the debts of the old club. Honest folk who provided services to Rangers are left out of pocket and honest tax payers look on whilst massive tax debts remain unpaid. So, do I welcome the arrival of "The Rangers" to the Premiership? No, It shames Scottish football and it shames those various authorities who have failed to apply relevant legislation and regulations. Today's phone-in also shamed the BBC.
  5. Totally agree! Although it was coming, last night confirmed the inevitable - and sadly, the end of the wonderful period of the Ibrox outfit being away from the party. Unfortunately, for most of the media, this now signals the return to 'normality', and is supported by misguided reports this morning of Rangers returning to the top-flight. Some even state it's a 'return to the Premiership', which is particularly wrong - as the division even wasn't called that when the former Rangers were playing in the top-tier! And other media 'outlets' are calling the highest division the 'SPL', which has ceased to exist for several years now. It's like a cancer returning after 4 years in remission. Edit: Obviously, my last sentence is a an analogy in a football context.

sometimes players get younger the longer they are out. wrong side of 30 to be called a fine young player.
  7. And now Neil Doncaster, who did his best in all sorts of ways to destroy Scottish football, 'welcomes' the arrival of the Taxdodgers in Spiffle 1. Had Falkirk or Queen of the South won the league I suspect Mr Armageddon would have made no such announcement. Presumably they won't have to pay the £250,000 fine they owe the SPFL to be allowed to play in the top league. I am usually ferociously plague-on-baith-their-hooses with regard to the Old Squirm but I hope the Taxdodgers get hammered in their semi-final. Given that in their three games prior to last night they had shipped three goals to, consecutively, Falkirk, Queen of the South and Raith Rovers, I'm very hopeful. Oh, and Challenge Cup Final humiliation with Rory McCallister scoring a hat-trick wouldn't go amiss either.

BBC Sport Scotland - Up to 12 Hearts players have been suffering from gastroenteritis and an under-20s match was cancelled to provide cover. Head coach Robbie Neilson was concerned about the bug spreading. "Players had been away on Scotland Under-21 duty and a couple of the guys from other teams had had it," he told BBC Scotland. "They came back here, John Souttar had it and it looks like it has spread from there and all five of them that went away last week with the 21s were down with it and a few other guys as well. "The worry is that it then spreads even further through the club and possibly even up to Inverness with the Inverness players. "So, the doctor's made the decision we're going to have to close this place down for two days, get it cleared out and hopefully by the time we come back in on Thursday be ready to go. "If we finally get up there next Tuesday, that'll be the third attempt to get the game played and we're desperate to get it done. It's three journeys, three hotels paid for, three bus journeys paid for so it's been an expensive trip this time." The Scottish Professional Football League said in a statement Hearts applied for the postponement as the majority of their first-team squad were affected by injuries or illness and they had only one fit goalkeeper over the age of 16. It added: "The Heart of Midlothian FC doctor has provided written evidence to the SPFL of the injuries and sickness of all those affected and has also advised of the potential for further infection, both of other squad members and of players and staff of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC. "In these exceptional circumstances, the SPFL has agreed to the postponement request." Now that all makes sense to me apart from the closing the place down for two days. Shure they can decontaminate the environment but there is no way that they can give all the players the all clear in that space of time. Plus Aberdire are travelling in to that environment - so why are there not concerns about their health in the same manner as there was concerns for ICT ? Was Liam Polworth on Under 21 duty ?
  9. Sadly couldn't make it to the match due to an unfortunate incident on Friday and the hospital wouldn't let me out to attend the game.. needless to say it's harder to post with only 9 fingers... from what I saw on Beeb highlights and heard on here and tw@tter it seems like the same old same old. And irony that we were chasing the 3 points and actually came away with nothing! Definitely frustrating! Looking at some of the other posts on here - we shouldn't expect the highs of last season every year, and whilst is is unlikely, we are doing ourselves a dis-service to say that it's a one-off! Clearly, survival and a decent cup run is the target for the team, and we have more or less achieved that this year, some more positive thinkin from fans, board, manager and players alike wouldn't go wrong! It's been an open league this year and really, a few points here or there could have cemented us in top six, looking towards top 3 again. And without European football next season, our budget may creap up a wee bit again.... perhaps the Youth Team decided to stay away after the widespread and completely unnecessary derision they got from some of the 'older' eejits on here who slagged them off for their excellent performance in Dingwall. in a way, happy that tonight's game is postponed...a week to prepare for the more important Dundee Utd game might prove to be important, and I might be able to clap again by the time the replay comes around.....

I don't know if Yogi and Mariner have anything in common but I would totally agree with Mariner's opinion on giving young players a place on the bench if they haven't earned it. I would also totally agree with Yogi in that we have as many players on the bench that are fit to play and deserve to be there. If we are short because of not having a big enough squad then so be it. If a youngster doesn't show promise, doesn't work his socks off in training and dev games or has a questionable attitude he shouldn't get anywhere near the first team either in training or matches. At the end of the day Yogi, not the supporters is being paid to make that call.

He has been badly missed and his welcome return would mean that one of the best young centre halves Josh Meekings could take his place in central defence. Winner twice over.

Got another clip from the Hearts Training ground this morning
  13. Don't think we can ever be accused of throwing caution to the wind. Why should winning the Scottish Cup and finishing 3rd be looked upon as a one off, we are an estabilshed SPFL team.

There's no funny business going on here, but it is interesting that a postponement happens on the word of someone paid by, and probably a supporter of, a team wanting the postponement. In bad weather, an independent ref assesses the pitch. Is there a presumption that club doctors are always honest and thorough, and club groundsmen are not? Doctors do have an ethical code etc, but they also believe their patients, so when a keeper says he has got the shits really bad and feels terrible, the doc is hardly going to call him a liar! Everybody knows how easy it is to get a sick note from a doctor, even one who is not on your payroll. Just saying that there is scope for a bit of manipulation in these situations, particularly if it is remotely borderline. agree though that we don't want to risk our squad getting this bug. Plus we might have more players back by next week, so it's not all bad.

  16. I can understand that allowing people on the radio who are not of a high enough intellectual standard must be very upsetting for you! Also that you picked such a poor example to convince us that we're all up our own backsides... If your memory tells you Traynor was better, you must be showing early signs of dementia Nah, I quite like OTB on the odd occasion I manage to hear it (I didn't today). I see Spiers is on it too. I'm a Scottish football fan. It's what Saturdays are for. The standard is poor but it's all we have. It's never anything like 7 hours anyway if you go to a game. Spend the day getting all the updates then MOTD at night. Magic
