I'm not sure what your issue is. The goals conceded this week were a terrible OG from Oakley I think and a penalty. Nothing to do with Ridgers, he's been one of our most consistent performers since Christmas.

He's the best keeper in our league.
  3. I just made them all up.
  4. Same old story of missed chances, but at least we are creating them. Robbo can't legislate for Rooney gifting Alloa a penalty but similar to the Dunfermline match our game management in the last 10 minutes was shocking. Polworth gets a fair amount of stick but playing him on left side is a complete waste of time. He doesn't hide and therefore his errors are noted more than his fellow midfielders leading me on to....... Why does Robbo persist with Joe Chalmers - he is the worst midfielder we have yet gets 90 mins every week. He hides, can't tackle and every attacking move that goes through him slows the game down and teams get back in to position to defend. His corners were awful, look at the crosses put in by Walsh and Calder why are they not taking corners? Hope the strikers are practicing penalties for the foreseeable future - they should be fighting over taking penalties, not hiding behind a central defender. Whilst we should have 9 points on the board we don't, but we are only 2 off top spot. Three tricky fixtures coming up, these are the games we must take points from if we are going to fight for a top four finish.
  5. We've played three games in the league so far - beating Falkirk 1-0 and drawing 0-0 with Ayr Utd and 2-2 with Alloa. Beating Falkirk maybe isn't the good result it seemed at the time as they look to be a bit of a shambles. Similarly, maybe drawing with Ayr Utd is a better result that it seems, with their recent wins over Dunfermline and Dundee. In the three league games so far we've had 40 shots on goal, with 12 of those shots being on target, 30% of the total. Historically a Shots on Target percentage of 30% is associated with being relegated but it's early days. One of the observations that Charles Reep made when he was initially analysing football statistics was that the more shots you have, the more goals you score. You can boil that down to the more shots on target you have the more goals you score - not all shots are equal of course, and a shot that's on target is a better guideline to how dangerous your strikers are than a ballooned 40 yarder that nearly hits the corner flag. Generally, though if you have more shots on target, you score more goals, you win more games. So far in this seasons Scottish Championship, here's the shots on target per game for each team, in the current table order. Ayr Utd 3.33 shots on target per game 6= Morton 3.67 5 Dundee Utd 4.67 3 Ross County 5.3 2 ICT 4 4 Queen of the South 6 1 Partick thistle 3.33 6= Dunfermline 3.33 6= Alloa 2 9 Falkirk 1.67 10 It's worth pointing out that it's very early days and that there are statisitical outliers - most obviously the game on Saturday when Queen of the South had 27 shots on goal against Falkirk, more in one game than most sides in the division have had all season. You also have to consider how good your strikers are - how many shots on target does it take for you to score a goal? So here is the shots on target per GOAL for each team, again in order of the current league table. Ayr Utd 1.67 shots on target per goal 1 Morton 1.83 2 Dundee Utd 2 3= Ross County 2.67 5 ICT 4 9 Queen of the South 3 6= Partick thistle 3.33 8 Dunfermline 2 3= Alloa 3 6= Falkirk 5 10 This table shows that when it comes to efficiency, we are very poor. Only the abject Falkirk take more shots on target to score a goal. If we were as effecient in terms of converting chances as Ayr Utd have been this season we'd have scored seven goals, and would most likely have won all three of our games. Do we have the strikers to make a promotion challange? Do we have the players capable of creating chances for them, are they making the best of a bad situation?

Might have a better chance of scoring if we take penalties with our eyes open...
  7. Robert, I like the look of your team.
  8. There is very little wrong with the current location of the stadium if we were able to build three more permanent stands in addition to the single one we have and to retain and properly tarmac the car parks. However, in reality we are struggling to finance putting a team on the park who can compete in the Championship. I am afraid that for the foreseeable future ant thought of moving or developing our current location is pie in the sky. I am sure that the vast majority of us would settle for once more watching top flight football in our wonky three sided ground even if there was a waste facility nearby.
  9. A depressing read! I missed the game due to a family bereavement, so was keeping an eye on the BBC app for updates. All appeared to be going well with us seeming to have found a penalty kick taker (an unlikely one at that), until the late equaliser and then reading on here we had also missed a penalty. We should be clear at the top on 9 points, but we are not. We have potential but are not delivering, so things must change. We are at our best moving the ball quickly, but we rarely do so. In my opinion, we need to start with two wide players, and have attacking options in midfield to support a lone striker. My starting XI at Dunfermline would be a 4-2-3-1: Ridgers Mckay Donaldson McCart Tremarco Welsh Polworth Walsh Doran Calder Oakley Personally, I think Polworth has done better when in central midfield, so he and Welsh could become part of our backbone, with Polly pushing up when able to. Calder deserves a start, and whilst Walsh is naturally left sided, he can do a decent turn on the right, and that is where we are weakest just now. Doran can do a shift supporting the striker for an hour or so, then give way to whichever sub is the best option depending on how the game is going. Up front, Oakley has the best work rate. What is going on with Austin? After his early promise at times last season, he seems to be failing to repeat that. Is he struggling for fitness? What has happened to Elbouzedi? He has not featured forweeks. Any word on Beith's fitness?
  10. We have Rooney this year too.
  11. If we could take penalties, we'd be top of the league by two points. Can't we maybe: 1. Practice penalties 2. Have a selection of 3/4 penalty takers 3. If that's a stretch ? ? can we not do a captain's armband-esque switch so everyone knows the penalty-taker for the rest of the game if first choice gets sub'd Are we pub league or what?
  12. Shambles pure & simple and nothing coming from dugout to suggest any difference i turned to the person next to me after 5 minutes and said we are not keeping a clean sheet today but all this missed chances is getting silly now and sorry i love Carl and his passion but i am not seeing any leadership from him and then the shambles when awarded the second penalty is pathetic the captain should know who the penalty taker will be if we get one. Only Calder when he came on (thats another story why's he not starting) made a difference. Sorry Robbo enough why yesterday was Welsh taken off when he was decent but Polworth & Chalmers stayed on it seems they play 90 minutes no matter what He is saying on BBC website time for changes eh? he tried that and slated them try looking in the mirror Pal there was no reaction from the dugout the whole game yesterday they are like 3 Stooges .
  13. Where’s Blair when you need him

The decision as to who takes the penalties should be clearly decided BEFORE kick off. So it was clear that Welsh was the first choice. Well there should have also been a clearly designated 2nd and 3rd - and if anybody pisses that about then the captain should be in there sorting it out. As for captaincy Tremarco was the firm fans favourite before the start of the season and also the players choice. It doesn't matter where you play to be a captain. Most people would prefer a defender
  15. Spot on RIG. We may well have NOT got as many points if Robbo had gone down the "chop and change" route - as we have tried in previous seasons. You pick your starting first eleven in your head - you have to stick with them for the first 3-4 games (a bit like Fantasy Football) - you then give some playing time to the potentials on the bench - that should put pressure on everybody - those playing to play well enuff to keep their places and those coming on to impress. Then after a few games - which is probably NOW - you start looking at 1-2 maximum changes per game.
  16. As poor as today's performance was, that is a bit defeatist. We can get better. We demonstrated that during the last ten weeks of last season with substantially the same squad of players. What is needed is more commitment, more belief and more consistency. Much of that is down to the players but some of it also to the manager and coaching staff.

Thats just not true mate White went to get the ball and Donaldson would not give it to him, thought at the time it was a liberty that he didnt give the striker the ball and then proceeded to miss the pen. Need to get it sorted soon who the pen takers are.
