Tell you what, if I was a potential investor (read donor) and took time out of my busy life either running a medium to large sized business (which is what you need to be doing to inject the levels of capital the club need, let's face it) I'd think twice after seeing some of the posts and disdain that "we" seem to have for the board, their motives for doing what needs to be done, the way they run the club etc. The cynicism in quite staggering - and I can do cynicism - but some seem to chip away at everything without making any suggestion as to what they would perhaps suggest. We could maybe do with damping things down for a bit and thinking how we could perhaps look to pro-actively assist in our clubs future. Or is schadenfreude the way forward when we go part-time, run out of money, sell th eground and we can sit back and say "See, told you so", fiddling whilst Rome burns. Jaysus.....

How about running a business that has nothing to do with football, but channel the revenues from said business into the footballing side of the business...perhaps another 'division' of ICTFC Ltd...? If there are entrepreneurs interested in coming on board then maybe this is something that can convince them to get involved - using their acumen to generate funds for the club as well as profits for the business...

I wasn't there but from the tit bits I've read / heard whilst we are okay(ish) financially (any talk of admin is, at this stage, well wide of the mark) but if we continue to ply our trade in the Championship these ongoing losses, were no action to be taken, would result in us having to look at areas to make cuts. The youth setup would likely be canned or heavily scaled back and / or cuts made to the first team playing budget. If we want to maintain our current setup then we need more money invested in the club and getting more fans through the doors as well (this doesn't seem to be happening any time soon). Basically the club had budgeted for two seasons in the Championship (at a push three) before they would need to look at cutting back on costs and that's where we are now. I'm no fan of Scott Gardiner but these financial issues have been well known for some time and well before he came in. Can't say I have too much faith in him being able to resolve matters however. For a club that's done so much right on the pitch in a short space of time it's staggering how abysmal we have been off the pitch over the years. We have never gotten it together and it seems like we never will.

  6. I'm of the opinion that even if it was a PR exercise then so be it, however I don't think it was. I do believe it's genuine and laying things out for transparency. They have to do it if they are to attract investors and additions to the board, only a fool would go in blind - I'm sure you know all this anyway. The youth system quite honestly is a luxury we can't afford and given the choice I'm sure we'd all choose to lose it first over the club. If you break it down as well, has the youth setup brought about more benefits than downsides or is it the other way round? We need to be producing one or two players a year of genuine quality to justify the hefty outlay and that's relying on them generating money, even then our recent dealings in the selling market in recent years has been awful except for the sale of Ryan Christie.
  7. Of course there are "political" reasons for the EGM. To me the message is clear. We need more funding from new sponsors - we need better attendances - we really need promotion or have to look at all the other options - we cant afford the present youth system but we have to maintain the present playing squad as they actually look like they may do something this season.

    Highland football has lost another famous son following the passing of former Caledonian Football Club Chairman Hugh Crout. He joined Caledonian Football Club initially as a committee member in 1970, a period in which David Birrell was club chairman, his second spell in the chair. Hugh took over the helm at Telford Street in 1973, and would go on to serve the club for a decade, by which time they had amassed a treasure trove of silverware along the way. A superb ambassador during his tenure with the “Blues” he formed a superb partnership with then Manager, the late great Alex Main, and together they would go on smash records throughout the Highland League. The silverware haul included: five Highland League Championship titles 1976-77, 1977-78, 1981-82, 1982-83, 1983-84: Five North of Scotland Cup: 1973-74, 1974-75, 1976-77, 1981-82, 1983-84: Three Scottish Qualifying Cup victories: 1981-82, 1982-83, 1983-84: Two Highland League Cup successes: 1976-77, 1977-78: Two Inverness Cup victories 1977-78, 1982-83 Hugh was very much a real gentleman and made numerous friends throughout football, a man of integrity, who will be sadly missed.
  9. Can I refer you to the post by A sofa in San Tropez on page one of the Chairman resigns thread. Explains exactly how we are keeping doors open prior to soft loans being written off. I think what club are saying is this is unsustainable in the Championship long term. If you are local come along on tuesday and ask exactly that!
  10. Whilst I agree with the majority of your post I think this last couple of sentences are a bit harsh. Blaming it all on the board is too easy. The basic problem is the apathy of the 'support' from the Inverness area. Ok, there are probably things the Board might have been able to do to improve things, but if the majority of the potential fanbase would rather jump on buses every week to support the ugly sisters, the Board are on a hiding to nothing.

  12. Alloa have beaten Dundee United. We can really close things up again at the top if we can win tomorrow. We had the beating of Ayr last season. Hopefully we can continue that this season.
  13. I can't say I ever subscribed to the 'couple of seasons down would be a great wheeze ' philosophy...I was more of the 'I hate getting pumped week in week out, we don't deserve to be here ' mindset....but hey, who knew!! Hindsight is a helluva thing.
  14. I should add the best way forward is for us to get promoted. Apart from the obvious increase in money the added increase in away crowds would be welcome. Those who thought a couple if seasons down would be a great wheeze have now well and truly been shown a reality check

I thought the way ahead this season would be a cull of deadwood or more politely bench warmers we no who they are Traff White etc sign a talisman i.e. Storey and fill out the squad with youth saving money and giving us something to build on long term most fans enjoy seeing young bucks from the youth teams get a run out! How to attract more fans is gonna be tough for the fair weather fan with a couple of kids a pricey day out to see the likes of Arbroath pity the poor bugger tasked with selling ict to the area!

  22. As a VERY minor shareholder, it has been my intention to attend this evening's EGM. However, I now find myself unable to do so. I would, however, like to look on the positive side. We are in a very difficult financial position. How could we be anything else in the second tier with no major investment and home crowds barely nudging two thousand ? However, whilst it is obviously a possibility in the future if things don't improve, I think that talk of imminent administration is wide of the mark. I think we are in a better practical position now than a few months ago as the result of the resignation of a chairman who clearly was not enthusiastic about the position and seemed to have very little interest in addressing the legitimate concerns of fans or entertaining any of their ideas. Also beneficial, is the departure of a CEO who's appointment was shrouded in claims of nepotism, was clearly out of her depth and caused quite a bit of damage during her thankfully brief tenure. Her successor seems a good deal more competent and much more willing to communicate openly. As for the future, there are two individuals who are wealthy and have business acumen who have a genuine interest in the club but have worked against one another in the past. If they could somehow put aside their differences and work together and perhaps provide, on an equal basis, some working capital at this stage the future could look a good deal brighter.
