First Leg v Smokies After an edgy quarter final play off win over Partick Thistle, we face Championship team of the season Arbroath on Tuesday night at 7:05pm. Dick Campbell takes his team North as favourites to progress to the final, with St Johnstone being the likely candidates for the opposition. The game will also be screened live on the BBC Scotland channel. Arbroath have had a fantastic season falling just two points short of automatic promotion and finishing second in the Championship, six points ahead of third placed Inverness, and with a superior goal difference of seven, and losing only five Championship games all season. The one thing in our favour is that we beat them twice, the most recent a slightly flattering 3-0 win a couple of months ago. Kilmarnock 6 3 2 1 9 6 3 0 0 6 2 0 2 1 3 4 +3 11 Last time we faced Arbroath we were on an eleven game run of no wins since we thumped Morton 6-1 at Cappielow on December 11th CTO Report March 12th: 3-0: The spell is broken: A blistering start by Inverness put them on their way to a first win in 12 starts. Goals from Shane Sutherland and Reece McAlear set them on their way inside eleven minutes. Billy Mckay sclaffed in a third with twenty minutes to go and there was no way back for Arbroath who lost ground at the top of the table with Dick Campbell sent to the stands. As Partick Thistle lost to Morton, we closed the gap to two points behind them with Raith still one point behind us. Away to Rovers next week. That's a massive game now as both sides chase a play-off spot. I said to my grandkid's at the game "that was an emphatic win" At only seven years old, Ava said "granda, what does win mean?" Yes, it's been a long time coming... Well done Mark, great stuff. 68 clean sheets, that's some size of linen cupboard pal! TEAM NEWS Roddy MacGregor has cracked a bone in his jaw and could be out for the next few games. Tom Walsh is likewise after being injured inside twenty minutes at Firhill. Wallace Duffy missed the last couple after being injured against Accies on matchday 36. Scott Allardice made it onto the pitch as an injury time sub for the first time in months, so that's a positive and here's another one, Aaron Doran came on as a sub for the last half hour after taking a knock at Cappielow on matchday 35. A well deserved April's Player of the Month award for Logan Chalmers who has chipped in with some massively important stunning goals recently in our drive for promotion. He scored five goals in a five game purple patch starting with a match winning fiercely struck brace over Raith Rovers. He followed that up with a belter against Ayr United, a sweet winner against Killie and a wonderful solo thumper against Queen of the South. After a somewhat slow start, Logan has benefitted from more game time and you can see why he is highly rated by parent club Dundee United That's some left peg lad. View full article1 point

Disappointed but not in the least surprised to read that at least two tables walked out of the Scottish Football Writers Association annual awards dinner in the couse of the keynote speaker's 20 minute speech allegedly litered with grossly offensive sexist, racisit and homophobic 'jokes. Well done to those who were brave enough to take a stand and shame on those, including many of our most prominent journalists and broadcasters who just sat there and laughed. No wonder we are still struggling to get women and girls to participate in our game and no wonder that the many gay players, professional or otherwise, are terrified to be open about their sexuality. I thought that we had come along way from the days when bananas were thrown at the feet of Mark Walters without any comment or condemnation from the likes of Archie Macpherson. More disgrace and more shame on Scottish football. Once again great credit to those, mainly although not exclusively women, who had the courage to make a stand and call it out and who will, no doubt, even now be getting vile abuse on social media as a result. We can't leave it to women, people of colour and the LGBTQ community to deal with this. It's not a problem of their making and we all need to work to fix it.1 point

I am one of the many at fault for the fact that we have not moved on nearly as much as we should have. I attended many of these events, boxing dinners were the worst where the only women in attendance were the scantily clad girls who entered the ring to be wolf whistled at and hold a a card with the number of the next round. I squimed in my seat at what was being said Andy Cameron was another serial offender as compere, complained to Mrs Kingsmills when I got home and vowed never to go again (until the next excuse for 'networking') but was too cowardly to do or say anything at the time. It's incumbent on those of us who were cravenly complicit to stand with those brave enough to make a stand niw. I am genuinely ashamed that I did not do so when it might have made a difference.1 point

I was the first female member of the management committee of the pre merger Caledonian FC and was not allowed to attend the North of Scotland dinner etc. In these days they were definitely "sportsmans" dinners. I also was not allowed in several boardrooms at the time especially in the central belt being a female. As you say we've edged forward but it is clearly not enough1 point

It appears the speaker who caused upset was indeed Bill Copeland. Reading some of the replies to Eilidh Barbour on twitter it appears we have a long way to go in this country with equality in football sadly.1 point

I see quite a lot of "lazy b*****d" quotes on P&B from both sets of fans and Motherwell too, although he did well there initially. Maybe just his running style. I'd certainly have him back.1 point

I see Dick ****** Campbell is being discussed elsewhere. I heard him speak at a dinner once. He did apologise in advance to the one or two females present... Maybe Ange as the manager of the year instead of Dick was just diplomatic Archie Macpherson lies to pensioners so you can't expect high standards from him. Do we know who the speakers were?1 point

In all fairness, Kilmarnock did not steal the league...they bought it.1 point

At the point when dodds was getting abuse was our rotten mid season form which was well deserved criticism and perhaps then we would have settled for where we are. However given how poor the quality of teams in the league has been its clear some better results in that period and we'd have been already in the Premiership next year!!!1 point

Two great goals from Samuels saw us through that tie. Hope he can do the same v Arbroath. He seems on a good streak right now, love the way he finishes. With him, Chalmers and Shane we have goals in this side. I fancy us against a deflated Arbroath. We are on a bit of a roll, 7 goals in three games.1 point
