  1. I've never really understood the 'it's better that we're out of the cup so we can concentrate on the league' type of thinking. These guys are full time professional athletes, it really shouldn't be an issue. If I recall the season we finished 3rd in the Premiership was when we won the Scottish Cup.

  2. I totally agree Fraz. We are in need of a cup run next season it is extra games to play but means more money for the club and if we get a decent run in any cup it brings more fans on board.

  3. What’s the difference? I know that when one of whichever it was was set off downwind of us, it was so choking we used our face masks to breathe until it cleared. Not nice for anyone with a bad chest or asthma.

  4. The winner for this season voted for by you is Shane Sutherland. Shane started well at the start of the season and picked up points throughout the season coming on to his best form in March, April and the start of May before being injured in the away game at Arbroath. A well deserved winner and hopefully he will make a good recovery from the serious injury picked up at Gayfield. However, early indications are that Shane will be out long term. Congratulations on winning this trophy which was held for the last two seasons by runner up David Carson and a speedy recovery Shane. Full Name: Shane Sutherland Born: October 23rd, 1990 (Wick) Height: 1.82 Position: Striker or inside forward Signed: July 1st, 2020 First Manager: John Robertson Left Club: May 31st, 2021 Career Stats: 162 appearances, 21 goals Debut (as sub): August 1st, 2009 - Inverness CT 4 - 0 Annan Athletic (League Cup - Rd 1) Full Debut: September 22nd, 2010 - Celtic 6 - 0 Inverness CT (League Cup - Rd 3) First Goal: March 5th, 2011 - Inverness CT 3 - 0 Motherwell (League - ) Also Played For: Elgin City, Peterhead Shane's Bio. Signed From: ICT U-19s Date Signed: July 2009 A young player who has come through the ranks and began to show excellent form last season. He made his 50th appearance for the club in the away fixture against Hearts at Tynecastle at the end of November 2011 and scored his first goal of the season against the same side on 21st January 2012 in Inverness. A very pacy and strong forward he will be looking to make a lot more appearances in the starting line-up this season. When given the opportunity, he has a lethal shot which has seen him scoring some excellent goals, both at senior level and also junior level. A lot will be expected of Shane this season as he strives to be one of the main strikers at the club. Sutherland made his senior début for Elgin City in the Third Division on 23 January 2010, while on loan from Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He was released by Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the end of the 2012–13 season, and signed for Elgin City in July 2013. After two season with Elgin, Sutherland moved to Scottish League One side Peterhead in June 2015, signing a one-year contract. At the end of his contract Sutherland returned to Borough Briggs for his third spell with Elgin. In January 2019 he returned to Peterhead. On 16 January 2020, Elgin announced that Sutherland would be leaving at the conclusion of the 2019–20 season to rejoin his first club, Inverness Caledonian Thistle where he is now a regular starter. At the end of season 20/21 having scored six goals Shane signed a one year contract extension. Shane has now gone on to make 162 appearances for the Caley Jags scoring 21 goals in total and 12 this season which included a vital one against Partick Thistle in the pay-off 1/4 final. Unfortunately he has suffered a serious knee injury in a play off game at Gayfield and will be out long term into season 22/23. Player of the Year Winner with 57 points Shane Sutherland Second with 40 points David Carson Third with 39 points Mark Ridgers Fourth equal with 38 points Billy Mckay and Roddy MacGregor Sixth with 36 points Scott Allardice Monthly Winners July Shane Sutherland August Roddy MacGregor September Michael Gardyne October Michael Gardyne/Roddy MacGregor November Billy Mackay December Scott Allardice January Mark Ridgers February Sam Pearson March Shane Sutherland April Shane Sutherland May Austin Samuels The highest number of votes in a game is Reece McAlear for his great finish from Austin Samuels cross and his stunning free kick in the home playoff against St Johnstone. The worst referee by far this season is Willie Collum for his disaster of a performance in the Arbroath away playoff game. Thank you again for all your votes throughout the season. Indebted to IBM and ictEWD. These guys have been working tirelessly in the background updating stats, adding current stats/results and new information to this site and keeping the voting polls going. Along with that Eric has produced a working master spreadsheet and Iain has collated all the votes over the last two seasons to come up with the Player of the Year once more. An onerous task all round but one carried out with due diligence. View full article

  5. Flares burn hot enough to melt steel and have an exposed flame, they are intentionally difficult to put out as designed for marine use. Smoke bombs do burn a bit but internally at much lower temperature. They are very different.

  6. I really think we need a tall striker, a target man, so, that if the game isn't going our way, we can change tactics, and, as we seem to like the long punt up the park, it would be nice if we could actually win some balls in the air, instead of our opponents centre backs winning everything and it coming straight back at us. In the last couple of seasons we had White and Todorov, and it gave us options. We play our best football on the deck with short quick passing moves, and we have got a lot of joy from it, but there is no use bringing on a small striker to replace a small striker when that isn't working, if we need to go route one, then we need the personnel to do it.

  7. And in 2004 we won the League and the Challenge Cup and took the Pars to a replay in the Semi of the Scottish.

  8. There are so many small things that the club could be doing, but don't seem too bothered about. At a meeting with the supporters a few seasons ago, it was said that the clubs intention was to improve the match day experience for the supporters, and I realise we have had covid since then, but nothing has changed, in fact it's worse. We can't usually find anyone selling raffle tickets, and with the club needing every penny you'd think they would be pushing this. There hasn't been a physical programme for a number of seasons now, and the online programme has now disappeared also. Where is our mascot Lionel Nessi? With the club attracting a larger contingent of younger supporters, you would think that it would be great to have the mascot around. I see that the team OTB have already set their season ticket advertising in motion on Facebook, but nothing from us. If it wasn't for the lads on the Wyness Shuffle, where would we get any of our information from? Certainly not the club.

  9. I think this is the wrong decision for UK viewers and beyond. If COVID has taught us anything it is that the virtual space can be a revenue generator when used correctly. Whether that's a centralised service from the SPFL or clubs on their own, the monies obviously spent in upgrading infrastructure for live streaming should not go to waste. I am sure there are many people who might consider a virtual season ticket, one-off games, or even a season pass for all games (if it were centralised with revenue splits for all clubs). Also think that season ticket holders should still get this perk (either natively or as an optional add-in for £1 or £2 per game surcharge) as they already have a ticket whether they use it or not … in fact, it may be a selling point or a decision maker on whether to buy that season book or not for out of town fans who think they may only get to games every so often but know they could view online. The one caveat would be the cost to the club - if it can be self-financing or sponsored so its not a drain on resources then that's fine, but if the bandwidth and other costs are higher than the revenue then it is understandable to wind it down a bit or only do it where it might make sense.

  10. I think it's a shame the PPV going too. I think this is additional income for clubs especially away fans who won't travel but will buy a stream. Shame really...

  11. I largely agree with you apart from PPV. I don't think this has had a huge impact on either our home crowds or travelling support and does generate a net profit for the club. More importantly, it allows those who live too far from Inverness to make regular attendance practical those elderly fans and others with mobility issues and those who are ill to share the action live with their fellow fans. I doubt if the football authorities will agree but I personally would love to see that facility continued and enhanced.

  12. It's only seen as frightening and uncomfortable because that's the image we portray of them in the media and via fuddy duddies on forums. Create the space to allow it in a manner which poses no risk to others and let them get on with it; after all, it's not like our stadiums are so rammed we can't accommodate it. I think it was Scotty I've seen talking about his happening in Canada? If we could also have mixed family areas, that would be great. Stop telling each new generation they are animals that can't be trusted to sit next to opposition fans. People aren't born to misbehave, but if we keep telling them that it's what is expected, they will soon conform. Let's put wheels in motion on all sides to put an end to that in football and enjoy mixed crowds like we see in so many other sports around the world.
