I thought we played pretty well tonight, passed the ball well and were on top for long spells. We need to shoot for goal more often rather than play about outside the box. Devine was immense tonight, but to be honest I think the whole team played pretty well just a pity we never took our chances and for that we paid the price.0-0 would have been a fair result. Just missing that cutting edge5 points

FFS, another sickening late defeat this season. It was destined for 0-0, with us being slightly the better side. Then a wicked deflection of Utd’s cross off Carson made it fall into Watt’s path when it wasn’t going anywhere near him otherwise. And to rub salt in a good penalty shout for handball doesn’t go our way. We did a lot of things pretty well, but didn’t get any luck tonight.4 points

Well, giving someone a free is often a sign of appreciation by a club - not standing in the way of a move that the player wants. With a more business-like hat on, it may be that even a small fee might have scuppered the deal, in which case we'd have been paying his wages until the summer.3 points

Sickened to lose that one so late on. We looked really organised, some excellent possession football but absolutely no cutting edge. We desperately need more pace in midfield and in the forward areas. If we get that we'll be fine. It was particularly grating to hear Billy Dodds talk about our poor bench and the lack of options to change the game considering its his squad. Not convinced on throwing Carragher in from the start, think he was culpable for the goal along with Ridgers who went down in stages. Gutting to lose but it highlights the urgency on bringing in a couple of additional midfield/attacking players.2 points

As much as I'm royally p***ed off that Welsh is off to a relegation rival I can also understand Duncan's thinking regarding his wages (and the fee of we're getting one) being useful in getting players in, preferably midfielders and a striker or two, perhaps Lee Ashcroft but I wouldn't be too disappointed if he didn't come as I'm pretty sure he's nearly or even in his 30s! It's also good to see that Ferguson is already trying to get rid of the deadwood/injury prone players already because I don't really want us to be needing a massive rebuild in the summer, especially if we are down in league 1 but hopefully we're not! So despite my minor rant a few days ago about our lack of incomings (which is still the case but not as concerned as I was that day) I'm more content in that it looks like DF is trying his best to reshape our squad : ictscarf:2 points

At least we can interview Welsh on the podcast now....it should be a mission to track down every squad escapee if they don't let us talk to the current squad..2 points

Not too fussed on Welsh leaving think him and Gilmour are off a similar mould and quite happy with our other midfield options in Anderson and hopefully we see more of Keith bray second half of the season2 points

Tbh I think just one quality ball player would have made all the difference tonight, someone in the middle who could take the ball on the turn in tight areas..all the time we were turning back and the ball went sideways or back to Devine, he must have had a lot of touches. Billy doing 2 jobs for the price of one again. If we're not careful we'll burn him out. Tough result to take.1 point

Thought Hyde would’ve been able to get a better loan then Brora. Maybe an Elgin level1 point

It's been a very cold day here today but due to warm up to 6 degrees this evening so should be a good night for the football I will be wrapping up well before heading down and hope we can sneak a win!1 point

Sean is a really nice guy and was a tremendous captain. We probably started out looking for a fee but to help both Club and player move forward found there was no point. Zak did his best but with Carragher brought in it looked like a strengthening of our defence by replacing someone not quite up to our requirement. Given that Cillian has hardly played despite quite a few opportunities it will be interesting to see what role he plays tonight. He may be heading out too. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility that a few others might be loaned out or moved on. Three out so far - DW, SW and ZD. One in so far - JC.1 point

As said on another thread, Sean Welsh has been a great servant to the club, but sadly the last few seasons have been blighted by injury so we’ve not seen that much of him. He deserves our appreciation for what he was able to contribute during his time here.1 point

Funnily enough he sold his house a few months ago and just moved out after Christmas...not sure this is as much a shock as it seems.1 point

Kyle Turner gone to Raith on loan. Now that would've been a nice bit of business for us...obviously the pull of Kirkcaldy is too great.1 point

Good player on his day but too unreliable in terms of fitness. Never seem to get a good run of games form him. 120 appearances in almost 6 years back that up. Clearly shows Dunc is trying to tidy up whats in house - removing high earners perhaps who arent giving value or those not at the level required. Doran next along with Lodivica, Samuels, Ram1 point

Sean Welsh has been a great asset and player for this team. However he is 34 in 2 months time and has really struggled with injuries. I think the time has come to find his replacement sadly. We need to put faith in Duncan to find us a player of decent quality to replace him with. I wish Sean well if he does go and I thank him for the hard work he has put in over the seasons.1 point

That might explain why he’s not been restored to the captaincy. I know he’s struggled with injuries, but when fit he’s always been a strong asset to the team. I will be sorry to see him go if the move goes through.1 point
