  1. More remarkably, without our 15 point penalty we’d be level on points with Arbroath at the top, compared to the end of October when we were bottom of the league on merit ie even without the deduction. What an impact the change of manager has had. Well done SK.
  2. Better fortunes on the field, with the whole squad, from manager down, clearly giving their all, has led to a much more positive feeling on this website too. As a less frequent contributor these days, but a regular reader, it is a pleasure to come on every day and see everyone's comments. Despite the still difficult financial situation, there is definitely some optimism on the site now. Long may it continue , and well done to the team and everyone who has helped improve things. Onwards and upwards
  3. A great result. Well done all. It’s worth observing that we’ve not drawn any of our last 10 league games and we’ve won 7 of them. What a change in mindset and approach.

Remember like it was yesterday. My brother in law's work used to run a bus to scottish cup games back in the day. We stopped in Bannockburn for something to eat and drink on the way down. Few mins from parkhead we heard the game was off. It was discussed that maybe Clyde were at home and we could go watch that game. Decision was to head back to the Bannockburn pub. It turned out to be a great day. Celtic paid for our bus for the rearranged game. From getting out of the stadium to Perth that night my old man and I hardly uttered a word to each other, we were both in awe of the fact we had pumped celtic. A quarter of a century later it is me now the old dude going with kids to the games. Time just keeps rolling on.
  5. It’s been a long 8 days and we have covered a lot of miles. Well done the team on coming out of it with six out of nine points. And well done the fans who travelled to support them. We are amassing the points and heading out of playoffs. Our team are doing us proud. Off for a wee celebratory dram now. Oidhche Mhath.
  6. A manager cannot afford just to be passionate about becoming a manager - he has to also be passionate about his club, and Scott definitely is. Well done to all today.
  7. Never a dirty game but Alloa led us on bookings 4-1 before we came back to 4-4 but they snatched it with a last minute card 😂 Should have been out of sight at ht. Bavidge was probably poorer than usual but was unlucky when his drive came off the inside of the post. Paid for it within a minute of the restart and Alloa had a good spell for 15 minutes when we could have conceded. Any worries about tiredness after all the long away trips soon evaporated as we took control and forced corner after corner. Billy had a good chance but his legs gave up on him, then Stewart grabbed the winner, in a game where he started to show a bit of overdue class. What a player Keith Bray is. What a support we have right now.
  8. Revising the final chapter of his upcoming autobiography.

Yes, as soon as I saw how the current storm, Eowyn, was affecting things in the central belt yesterday, it took me right back to that Saturday of the cancellation. I had flown up from London with my 2 sons, plus a neighbour (a confirmed Rangers supporter btw), and made our way out to Celtic park, only to be devastated at the late cancelation. Even fuelled by a pint or two on the way, It was a very despondent little group of us who made our way back to the airport to try and get an earlier flight back to London. All was well of course a few days later when Super Caley went ballistic.... and the rest is history.
  10. That’s a superb result ending a tough road trip week! A 6 point haul from the three games, including a mighty effort at Palmerston on Tuesday, must be a real confidence booster. Bring it on…

Remember the Fluttering Guttering at Celtic Park 25 years ago this weekend? Looks like Celtic are having similar problems again this time. It was on 29th January 2000 that the Scottish Cup tie between Celtic and Caley Thistle was postponed due to structural problems at Celtic Park and a large contingent of Inverness fans had to come back down the A9 ten days later…. to witness history. Because I had a press pass for the game, I actually got into the ground and had pre-match access to the pitch along with various club luminaries of the day such as Pele, Jimmy Falconer and David Sutherland at a time when the Tulloch rescue was just getting underway. (I also had access to as many of the 20,000 surplus pies as I could take off their hands.😊) For reasons I won’t go into, the task of doing the Courier report fell to me… duly appearing on the back page under the massive headline PARADISE LOST. Then, then days later, Paradise was duly Regained.
  12. While that is true in terms of points, if we hadn't had the points deduction, that would most likely mean we'd still be stuck with Dunc, and I highly doubt we'd have seen this uptick in form under him. I'm not even sure we'd have reached our current points total under him!
  13. Another great result as we close in on Annan. Priority and focus has to remain on getting away from the bottom of the table and we can't afford to get carried away with looking too far up. An Annan draw with Montrose helps keep both within touching distance so if one or other goes on a wee run then hopefully we catch the other. Looking forward to a home game next weekend and welcoming the team back after a tough run of away matches.
  14. Here is the league table on our last 6 games, lets hope we can keep it up.
  15. We'll be out of administration by then and hopefully under ownership of people invested in Inverness as we used to be. I've been to 3 of the last 4 away matches : what has impressed me is that we have so much more fight and energy than we have had for years. It's actually good to watch. The players are again playing for the club. Very optimistic we'll catch Montrose by mid / end of February and then who knows....
  16. Better to stay in League 1 and build foundations for the future. Starting with -5 points in Championship could see us going straight back down at the end of the season.
  17. Charlie Dewar started his first game with Josh Gentles on the bench for the hosts. Luis Longstaff failed to make the starting XI or the bench with Alfie Stewart starting again for an unchanged visitors. Inverness took a first half lead through a Keith Bray header but immediately after the break Cameron O'Donnell equalised however Alfie Stewart got his first goal for Inverness with ten minutes remaining. We saw out the game thereafter and took a big step towards safety.
  18. It’s more the case that this ref was incredibly card happy, the card seemed to be coming out even for simple fouls, as well as for some great tackles (which is what Billy’s seemed to be). On the subject of tackles, that was one of our strengths today, we were tenacious in winning the ball and dispossessing the Alloa players.
  19. You beat me. But with the full time score in, we can leapfrog Annan with a win next week, and then it is just a short hop up to catch Montrose. C'mon Caley
  20. Second half much more even than the first, but it would have been a bit of a travesty if we hadn’t won that match.
  21. If we can get revenge on QOTS next week we'll be "only" 10pts behind them. I still haven't given up hope of a late push the the promotion playoffs if we can keep our form up...
  22. Great result well done to the team looking forward to our home game next week.
  23. Full time! That's a huge result. Back within a point of Annan (assuming they don't come back!)
  24. Ouch, that must have been a hard one to take. Onwards and upwards girls, all the very best at Stenny!
  25. Back down with a thump! Back on the road again on Sunday lets hope for a better performance and result against Stenhousemuir.
  26. I journeyed up...Euston to Carlisle, Carlisle to Dumfries, Last train back to Carlisle, Overnighter in Carlisle, back in my London office by lunchtime...bloody loved it A bit chilly, but at half time was chatting to a Man Utd/QotS fan in the drinks queue, before discovering they don't take payment card, and he bought my coffee! (which got me through the 2nd half) Thought the team played pretty well last night, Longstaff being out affected the midfield balance in my view. When we equalised to 2-2 I think the team got too excited about trying to win and left themselves a bit open. There were times during the match when our defence seemed to consist of just the two CB's as the FB's were pushing up so much...the tikki-takki stuff seems to be largely out Bavidge is some signing, and Bray looked great at right wing-back. Slightly annoying that Brooks got two against us, but did he get a fair crack when he was our player or does he fit better at QotS Anyway that's another ground ticked off...roll on Dumbarton away in March
  27. Annan have just made it 2-2 in the last minute ffs...
