  1. During a match most Invernessians sit on their suites in their lounge watching the Old Firm.

  2. David Raven was put under tremendous stress by the fans expectations of him. He hasn't quite settled yet but for goodness sake don't write him off he was and will be again a key player for us.

  3. for some reason though people did not like the bigger ones .... I got so much when suggesting we introduce them that at first I but then after having a and a and even though I thought I did all the posts from our members and with much from them we decided it was a big to the new emoticons. We will make a decision on the red dots sometime before

  4. One of them brought us up to our highest ever league position he also coached, directed and helped us win our best ever silverware. I for one will be eternally grateful and I will not be the only one. Others can think what they like. Thank you John Hughes.

  5. As someone very new to the site I think that it is helpful to show if you like or dislike a post that someone has made but if anyone dislikes a post then it would be helpful if they made a post on the site giving their counter opinion. Giving a red dot and not giving an explanation is like being hit from behind by a bully who then runs away. The majority of people that post on the site are adults and we should behave in a dignified and polite manner. That's not saying we all have to agree with one another on every subject but there should never be green dotting of people we like and red dotting of people that we don't like. As someone that doesn't know anyone else on the site I consider everyone as a friend as we all have the interests of the club at heart. Life would be boring if we all agreed on every subject. By the way I go for option 2.

  6. Agreed, what they have in common is that they are both good proven coaches. What they also have in common is that they are much more suspect when it comes to management.

  7. This is far better than dots....and there's no restriction on the number of them you can give.

  8. At the moment we're talking about the Bobbin, assuming it's not too busy. Should be there around 1 I think, so you can always drop me a text to check. ETA: just noticed that I used my landmark 1500th post to make arrangements for the pub. Sounds about right.

  9. These drill competitions, and indeed drill in general, always baffled me. I just couldn't see the point of performing random mass manoeuvres designed to get pre-mechanised troops from previous centuries into lines and squares in response to somebody shouting very loud at you. It was totally out of date but the argument was that it instilled "discipline" - in other words responding to commands without thinking too much. I suspect that, in the church based Boys' Brigade, a sub-agenda may well have been also getting Boys (capital B) to conform to religious diktats without thinking too much about that either. I have frequently thought that, although there was a lot of good in the Boys' Brigade, there was also an element of an establishment - both political and religious - ploy to ensure that the lower orders knew their place in life and conformed to that. Another "opium of the people". Drill was utterly pointless and out of date but you still had to pass exams on this nonsense before you could aspire to the Boys' Brigade's premier award The Queen's Badge (King's Badge to you Jock). Mind you until the several generations of officers who had done military service of some kind or another worked their way through the system, I suspect that those in charge looked back on all this mindless stamping and shouting with a degree of bizarre nostalgia.

  10. So you want to drop Horner for Raven, who hasn't played well at all this season, and yet you think other posters are picking players on sentiment? Seems to be exactly what you are doing here. Horner might not have had a flawless game the other week but in that one game he was infinitely better than anything we have seen from Raven this year. Also, Draper was superb playing just behind the striker against Saints but you want to drop him further back? Bit odd to me. The other week was one of our best performances of the season (not that that would be difficult in fairness) so I doubt we'll see many changes to personnel or how they are lined up.

  11. Sadly on here some are too juvenile for that, the reality that most posts just ordinary and carry the opinion of an individual is the normal although some are more exceptional and carry good structure and an opinion shared by many therefore get acknowledged (green) and some likewise are just inflammatory, degrading or out to provoke a reaction which lead to red dots. I'd like to think most on here consider when its appropriate to provide positive or negative feedback - however some cant and just see it as a point scoring exercise. Its not the system that's the problem, its how people use it or what their motivation is, therefore because of this perhaps the best resolution is to remove the system altogether? If the system isn't being used to acknowledge either end of the spectrum then it has not been grasped (in my opinion).

  12. Were you at the game? Horner had one of the best games he's ever had for us and you want to drop Fisher who was excellent again St Johnstone.

  13. The 'singing' section seem to be much livlier at away matches. I don't get to many home matches but I did sit in the North stand for the St Johnstone game and there was hardly a peep out of them the whole game, except for a bit of a conga when we got the injury time winner. At away matches, however, they seem to chant and sing the whole game, which must be a great boost to the players.

  14. The only red dots that I want to see this weekend is a pointless Aberdire walking off the pitch.

  17. Yes I was at the game and I'll be at this one too, You might think Horner had one of his best games for us, but that doesn't make him a better option defensively against the attacking players from Aberdeen - StJ created little down the wing whereas Aberdeen will be much more potent, positioning is an area weak in Horners game and he is often caught out while going forward has a lesser attacking threat that Raven - or do you disagree. Fisher never scored or looked like it and that's the job of a striker, where as Doumbouya carried a much more potent attacking threat. I'm glad you want to pick players on the sentiment that you liked what they did last game, however I want my club to put out a team that will win a game with every player being best for that job.

  18. Have you seen Raven this season? His legs have clearly gone. He will be roasted by Hayes, Storey and/or Shinnie. Fisher was one of our best players on the park against Saints. Yes, they're the main point to score goals but dismissing him because he didn't score is completely naive. His work rate, pace, holding up of the ball and presence was superb. Let's not forget that was his first start for us as well. Anyway who didn't think his performance warrants a start tomorrow is simply wrong.

  19. We have a game on Sat away to Aberdeen but as usual very little match thread build up anymore, apparently debating red/green dots is more interesting at the moment. OFW Raven Meekings Warren Tremarco Draper Tansey Mulraney Polly King Doumbouya Although Raven has been off form this season, Horner didn't look any more impressive last game - we need solid full backs to combat Hayes/McGinn/Logan threat. Upfront nobody has really hit form for us yet, but I thought Doumbouya looked impressive on his first outing so may be worth a start.

    • Inverness CT 3-1 Morton - Report
It was a lovely evening for a game of football, what could possibly go wrong? Well, what did go wrong was Queen's Park beat an understrength Airdrie 2-0 at Hampden, therefore despite beating Morton 3-1, Inverness head for the play-offs. Morgan Boyes opened the scoring with a thumping volley after half an hour. Kirk Broadfoot benefited from slack defending to level before the break then proceeded to earn the wrath of the home support with an embarrassing celebration in front of the North Stand. Cammy Harper relieved Billy Mckay of penalty kick duties and duly slotted home from the spot ten minutes after the break. The scoring was completed just after the hour when Sean McAllister drilled home into the bottom corner. Robbie Muirhead had been sent off for simulation then taking a wee fit to himself and was promptly sent off after 58 minutes just after Harper had knocked in his penalty kick, probably aggrieved that he never earned a spot kick for his dramatic dive.

Well, where do you start. It was clear from the begining of the season that something was wrong. Poor signings, dismal performances in the League Cup followed by an abysmal start to the League campaign saw Billy Dodds removed from his position after winning one point in the first six Championship fixtures and replaced by a man with no track record as a manager. A sort of publicity stunt if you like. After the initial new manager bounce wore off, we found ourselves little better off with Big Dunc than we were with wee Billy. We did claw ourselves up to the coat tails of others but the most damning part of our season has been our inability to score goals, especially at home. Only already relegated Arbroath are worse than us. Our team is now full of mercenaries, loan players with no affiliation to our Highland pedigree and many fans have tagged us as being the worst squad ever in our short history. Where are the Golabeck's, Tokeley's, Wilson's..... Much of this can be attributed to our lack of financial nous in the boardroom, failed ventures and now the begging bowls are being put in place to save our club. Having drawn at Dunfermline last week thanks to Aribim Pepple's first goal for the club combined with Billy Mckay's penalty miss, it's now out of our own hands. LAST SIX: D L  W W L  D

    • Dunfermline 1-1 Inverness CT - Report
Out of our hands now: It ended in disappointment for the 319 visiting fans with news that Queens Park had hammered Arbroath 0-5. To rub salt into the wounds, Sheridan and Welsh were amongst the scorers. It's out of our hands now, but it's a must win next Friday and hope Queens Park falter.  Inverness play Morton and Queens play Airdrie. A draw might be enough, but it's a long shot.

I'm not convinced that Billy Mckay was the right man to be taking that penalty, his second failure from the spot in successive games against the Pars.

    • Dunfermline Ath -V- Inverness CT - Preview
Aaron Doran looks likely to have pulled on the Caley Jags strip for the last time after limping off against Raith Rovers last Friday. Sean McAllister returning was a bonus though but the mystery deepens as to why Roddy MacGregor, Austin Samuels and Nikola Ujdur are not featuring either on the injury list or the team list. Baffling to be honest as Roddy has the midfield attributes required, Austin has the speed and potential and Nikola in my opinion, if fit, would be my first choice on the team sheet. Are these guys on the way out? Add to that seven or eight loan players, then next season will see a massive restructure and rebuild at the Caledonian Stadium. I imagine the board members are squirming in their seats like Angela van den Bogerd at a Post Office inquiry.

    • Inverness CT 0-1 Raith Rovers - Report
Inverness threatened the Raith goal and but for Kevin Dabrowski and his bar they could have been dead and buried at the interval. No score at the break and all to play for in the second half. Vaughan opened the scoring early in the second half and Samuel almost levelled but his shot from distance cannoned away off the post. The crossbar was hit a further twice but the goal would not come. Despite peppering the Raith goal, MotM Dabrowski would not be beaten with a string of saves ranging from brilliant to miraculous.
