No more OF at home for me
All I have to say is that I do think that the prices at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium (like all grounds in the SPL probably) are very high indeed for any fan. 20 - to - 25 pounds you say. Phew! I am going to see the Canadian under 21 team versus the Scotland Under 21 team in an International match here in Vancouver (Canada) on 24 March and I got two very good high-up centre stand tickets at the top price of $26 which is about 12 pounds each. The ground will have a full house of about 6,000 and it will be a good match with the lads being young and fit and skilful..and beer will be sold on the premises. So my son and I are really looking forward to the game and the day out. But whether I would want to , or could afford ,some $45 and upwards to see a game every other week is something I would have to think about and I honestly feel that if ICT want the ground filled up E.O.W. then they really must consider doing something about making the the pricing more attractive. Especially for the youngsters . :024:

So why can't we just call them "CALEY"
I agree with Buckett--- an expression of empathy and agreement that will no doubt be henceforth referred to as a day that will live in infamy, in view of our past history together. LOL :015: As time has passed , however, I have learned to appreciate the finer points of the Buckett in so far as , despite being as controversial as ever , he has again rescued this Forum from sinking in recent times into virtual slumber and almost boredom and there is no doubt that the often quite learned lad has his head screwed on at the right angle of the dangle. :021: Why, even the commentators on today's match on the BBC have given up on the effort of including the Thistle moniker in the name , now more often than not just saying Caley this and Caley that. So whether we like it or not the fact is that dropping the word Thistle will in all probability become the norm if for no other reason than because it is too much breath to expire at once. I mean, to please a few punters on here we can also add Inverness generously to the rant but by the time we have emoted our thoughts we have no puff left and our time has run out . :001: And for good measure why can we not just add a few extra words for effect bellowed in the stentorian call of the large and lonesome Moose as in ...." C'mon the Great White North Inverness Caley Jags "? That will sort the men from the Boys and no mistake. Personally speaking I like the name Caley since Thistle has a prickly antagonistic feel to it which is probably holding a few fans back from opening their wallets and making them stay away from tiny Tulloch Stadium. Och, Caley--the very name thrills my guid Scottish heart , my blood run warm in the snell Northern breeze and despite some huffy, stuffy opinions passed on here it helps me to remember the old adage.." A rose by any other name smells the same" (fer heaven's sake) -- and so I just love the smell of the name since it reminds me of the Distillery end . And if old Buckett gets more of a sniff he might just buy me a wee drammie or two and that will be another day that will ......... Hoch! Hoch ! :002:

Three league defeats in a row - time for change?
It's not exactly as if McSwegan has been given an extended run though--so how is he going to be expected to settle in and show up? Further, if he has had few games since last Xmas surely he must be putting in extra training, sprints and so on? I mean that's 8 weeks to get fit and tune-up? :024:Any comments?

Favourite Scottish Players
Johann Cruyff--when he latterly went to the Vancouver Whitecaps he was a lazy sod-- couldn't run, meandered about the park looking as if he felt he did not have to do too much at all. Brought in to share his "class" he epitomised a player past his best who was coasting on a big paypacket. Oh well ,the Whitecaps did win the North American soccer league but whether Cruyff was on the team I cannot remember. I do remember Pat Stanton of the Hibs--his striding demeanour epitomised control and desire. And I think it was Eddie Turbull's 45 yard rocket that totally sunk Kaiserslautern at Easter Road and a goal I will never forget--Hibs won 4-0 that night. They just seemed to own the park and the German side were eventually demoralised. Willie Johnston played at the end of his career for the Vancouver Whitecaps on the left wing producing another unforgettable moment in Scarlet's memory bank. The Whitecaps got a corner near the end of the game. Willie heard someone say something to him in the crowd, turned round and quickly accepted the beer bottle from the fan, took an almighty swig ..took the corner and...... SCORED! There was a moment's silence when you could have heard a pin drop and then a crescendo of laughter and noise. Aye! :021:

Fraser too lightweight?
A dribbler ...eh? Uhuh..one mistake and he is in the shutzen fest and stranded too Hmmm--personally I would not expect him to make a constant habit of it. But for sure the man must be given a chance to gain confidence and experience :006:

The BBC and BLOCKED transmissions
Right on Scotty. And thanks Mee --I did actually think of "Your Call" after I posted here .Good shout I would subscribe to ICT for their broadcasts but why should I have to pay the BBC when everybody else in the UK listens free on match day as far as I can see --apart from the annual radio fee if one exists these days. Still think it's over the top and I think the best approach is to talk to the club. I mean if they want me to pay 100 pounds for a centenary away top should I not expect something back relatingt o this ? Dunno, I am only a Pimple. I mean if they sell all thousand tops that's about 100,000 pounds less expensess--not a bad haul eh? :011: :010:

The BBC and BLOCKED transmissions
Full marks to Scotty for this one. Many a time and oft in the scheme of things have I talked to the BBC about this and got the sterotypical stuffy reply about rights. Looks as if a deputation from the Supporters club might have to be formed if they want to help out us overseas listeners and to request a meeting with Management of ICT. I would be the first to thank them. It would appear that single fan's views are ignored whereas a deputation to the club looking for answers to reasonable questions might fare better. Also, the club can demand an answer to Scotty's questions from the likes of the BBC. I cannot imagine why, in view of the very small number of overseas listeners who would actually want to listen to these matches, the BBC would want to block ANY of them. It is quite "over the top" .. Thanks for raising this issue again Scotty--a voice in the wilderness I fear when dealing with the "Authorities" whose interest appears to singularly focussed on big business and money without any regard for the small number of fans who in nboi way whatsoever can adversely affect their interests. Grrrr. So tomorrow there is not a single game all weekend that us overseas guys can listen to . My goodness this means that I can't even tune in to Jim Traynor's show---how will Im get over it Ha! How in the world can Taylor and or the SFA be blamed for expecting Smith to live up to the letter of his contract? Did he say to the SFA when he signed it that his understanding was that in the event of a better offer that suited him (better) coming along he felt that he would have the right to ditch the SFA and his country if he could think up a sanctimonious and devious excuse enough. Anhd the thought of his opining that he thought that the young Hibs players should (nowadays) be more into respecting their contracts with the Hibs "a bit more" is completely laughable. Who ever heard of a contract being a bit of anything--you either meet the terms and honour them or you don't--there is no such thing as choosing to honour a bit of what you want and the expect the other party to smile and thank you for not honouring the other bits. Bottom line is that his word is not worth the paper it was written on. Unless it is written in blue ink of course...... :011: :020:

Marcus Paatelainen...
So it's the Flying Finn to win then? Or does his hairdo make him Mr Racy Pacy? :021: Or was that Jackie Hather who used to electrify the punters with his pace on the wing fer Aberdeen in the year past dot..eh? But, och, it seems like he's no vindictive so he won't be gaeing intae the Sin Bin too often then? :014:

Is Mark Brown set to leave?
All of this is a bit unsettling. Should get it settled . Moving to Falkirk will not in my opinion greatly improve his International ambitions. Falkirk under John Hughes are coming on but all it takes is the loss of one player (e.g. Latapy) and the team turns downhill. It's not the location of Inverness that affects the situation it's just that the big nobs down the South will not give credibility to Inverness after they tried so hard to keep them out of the SPL. Aye that's it! :023: If ICT improve his remuneration too much they risk destroying their credibility of a club that treats all players on the team as equals as far as pay is concerned. And Dunco it's not true about the J.Calder comparison..--I have it on record that Mark Brown sat on the crossbar once waiting for the ball to come near him... :015:--but he fell off whereas Jim Calder didnae...

Is anyone else...
Eh wonder if you are all missing the point 'ere mates.? Walter can change jobs at any time--it's only another big payday. The real sad thing is he and others in Scottish Football have never been told that .... "a contract is a contract is a contract". :012:
