  1. If Iain plays to his potential he should be able to overcome the naysayers, up the pace and blow the opposition away. We all have major or minor personality disorders but what matters in this case is frankly whether he is willing to fit in, work hard on the training field and play to his great potential on the park as and when selected.. Let's face it, chums, we all change and mature as we age. And please remember John Hughes is NOT T. Butcher. Which is all I have to say on that score because "least said, soonest mended". So, knock 'em dead, Iain. Aye! .
  2. Well, you can't say the man hasn't got spirit.! If anyone can harness his skill, energy and aggressive attitude (the good kind), it's John H. Yep! And, regardless of the past, I have good vibes about this. Nothing like giving a person a second chance. Especially in this case since the platform offered to him for his work is great and if he fails again then his career may well be over. If successful, then Iain Vigurs could be a vigurous and positive contributor to Caley Thistle's onward progress and development. Let's wish him well and will him on.
  3. Don't be too hard on the FIfers, Row S. They were once the very best team that Scotland had to offer. In fact, so good that they could not keep up with English requests for exhibition games and, as a result, wore themselves out. Which , in turn, started the downward decline of this once great club. Salad days then obscurity. Mind you, playing at Bayview Park in coal country, was probably never going to lead to great glory as time went along but, to be truthful, I watched some darn good games there for a year or so --- a l-o-o-ong time ago. Sigh.
  4. Well, JH must know him very well from the past. But playing a man without paying him will never happen at a professional club like ICT. Either that or he has looked him square in the eye and intoned--"Do as I say, keep yer nose clean, your eye on the ball and say nuffink until I tell ye --- or I'll MELT YESE!
  5. There you go. The Windows 7 basic is the one that appears to be excluded from the Windows Update route, not windows Home Premium. There's a wee Icon on the taskbar at the bottom of the desktop screen where the "get Windows 10" bar is waiting for you to click it. I did and my unit is compatible. Thanks Guys!
  6. I was reading that you can't apparently upgrade to windows 10 through Windows Update if you are running Windows 7? Comments please?
  7. Renegade--that's a telling post. In more ways than one. You are telling us that John could handle him and I think you are right. In that case you must also be telling us that his footie skills, which are undoubted, will be the prime focus of John Hughes" attention and Vigurs could turn out to be a very valuable player for us. I agree with that as well. But for him to really fit into the Caley Thistle teamn and work to win and not to brawl he will have to be taught and understand the advantages of self-discipline. Interesting news though.
  8. Who thinks that Yogi is about to make statements in the press that either the Board cannot agree with or have refused to consider? Let's wait for the statements to appear before making speculative interpretations of non-existent expressions of anguished desire from the Coach to try to influence the decisions of the Board. It's hardly likely that, after all is said and done, he would embark on a passionate address to Management through the paper, hoping to influence the members to allow him to get what he wants. Unless he does it in cahoots with the Board of course?
  9. We should consider this: The club's fan backing has not been great over the years and the revenue stream has matched it. This last year was outstanding in comparison and maybe the Board are reluctant to spend a substantial portion of the income since they feel that last year's income was rather exceptional and maybe a lot of it should remain stashed in the bank in case of the inevitable return of what they have previously had to contend with i.e break-even finances and little in the way of spare cash. To find a replacement for Billy to perform by scoring all the time is a tall order it seems so--how will spending a large sum of money on a transfer fee change thst situation if it doesn't work out? Also, Richie has not been playing and yet his salary has had to be paid.. The team has been decimated by transfers-out of several quality performers and the rhythm of the unit completely disrupted accordingly; meaning the real possibility of poorer results and, possibly, poorer crowds and lower revenue streams. With the excellent year we have just had, won't the Manager's salary have also been reviewed? The loss of Russell must mean some kind of other adjustment is being considered which, inevitably, will mean a further financial outlay or at least a review to see what can be done to replace him? If I were in management I would be reluctant to spill the beans to the public at this exact moment in time until some light was shining at the end of the tunnel, some stability was achieved and some playing personnel, such as new signings or new youngsters needing to be blooded , had proved that they are for real and have the right stuff to support the challenge of this season alone. Spending MORE big money at this juncture in the season in ways that may not actually turn out to be beneficial would not probably occur to me as being a very useful strategy. Sitting tight and reviewing things with a very critical eye on a day-to-day basis would seem more rational. And how many people might wonder ..."Well, if John the Man were to think of leaving for pastures new because for him (after last year) the time is really ripe, or receive a very good offer, what would we do if he were to suddenly leave?" If these thoughts don't turn you on then why not just ask the Board in the appropriate way to clarify your issues a bit more by using the Ask the Club Forum or thread approach? The challenge is that unless ICT were a public company owned by shareholders then management may not actually feel the need to divulge anything since plans for the full season, in view of recent developments (injuries etc.), may not have yet crystallized and are currently the subject of urgent and earnest discussion in the boardroom that still needs further sober and second thought. So, why not give the management another month to bed in the new parts and see which way the wind may be blowing. This is a difficult scenario and needs time to sort itself out doesn't it?
  10. Hope Ferguson recovers quickly. Home bred talent and a boy with ability and heart as I see it . Needs and deserves his chance here at Inverness.
  11. Asked for advice on this myself. Seems to be a trial version out at the moment to allow the public to work out the bugs for them. I'm leaving it for later--no rush. Maybe next year I might also get rid of my current Tower which I had built and rued the day!! And buy a new computer form a reputable manufacturer. One recommendation I got from a techie was...." Hewlett Packard is the best". Comments?
  12. Great gesture to donate to it to a Romanian charity. Hope this is well , publicized in their local papers.Winnintg friends and influencing people in football, like as in life itself, definitely has it's upsides in the future. Then they will remember ICT for their hearts as well as their contribution to European footie. Then we will be welcomed back with a bigger crowd the next time. Cheers S.P. Do you also know that Destinies in Motion, our newly minted and printed very large Fantasy, also features very clever Romanian gypsies who help one of the novel's heroes fulfill his destiny--and he's from another dimension too. This is an hilarious episode in this book which reveals their cool and crafty cunning ways of going about things......
  13. And how old is he?
  14. Segs--that's a word that I haven't heard since my youth. Pit some in my newer shoes in our shed with a hammer and a shoe stand when I was about 17 to climb the slopes of Ben Nevis with the Academy hikers and came back with virtually nothing left on the soles. Them thar rocks scraped the metal right off!
  15. Good looking and quite outstanding but, for me, the block red in the middle is a bit too much.A little overdone perhaps.
  16. If it happens it will be a hell-for -leather game Tulloch C.S. Hope players don't get injured,. eh?
  17. I was talking to three of my female neighbours today about an issue with our Municipality. They were all in their fifities and one said something about me being Scotch and all. I felt obliged to opine that Scotch was whusky to generate a laugh. And they duly obliged. It's a funny old world isn't it ?
  18. Deteriorations seem to be world wide. The CBC T V News (Canadian News Channel-- I think) no longer spell checks the ticker flashes that roll along the bottom of th T V during the news delivery. Resulting sometimes in howlers. Must be a money issue....?
  19. Oh, Mantis, you are awful-----but I do like you!
  20. GUys Surely it was his chronic gambling issues that did him in and he was crawling around asking his pals to fund part of the losses to allow him to escape the jail forever in that foreign land.? Never heard of a chronic drinking issue. Was there one ? Truthfully I am now nervous that John has baled him out by allowing his heart to rule his head and that he will revert to kind which will precipitate another crisis probably. That's all I need to say at this point. Comments?
  21. Crowds have been very large. The final was played in Vancouver before 54,000, generally very loud and noisy fans and the overall attendance for the tournament was outstanding. Japan were not that bad actuellement. Their ball control and footwork was nifty but the U S scored , and scored, and scored and within a short space of time it was a foregone conclusion. Being so close to the Border with the U.S., the crowd was largely American as far as I could see and the weather was absolutely fantastic. The problem is now that the weather continues to be fantastic and in B.C. alone we have about 180 forest fires ravaging the Province and, with no sign of rain yet on the horizon, we are being blanketed with smoke. The average temperature here in this region is way up there and wavers between 36 degrees some 300 K North of us and our recent temperatures have been in the top 80's. Thank goodness the World Cup is over since playing in these conditions must have been very difficult for the players.
  22. Interesting to note that the former Inverness College claims to have prepared the budding scholars for the "Scotch Leaving Certificate". Did you get one IHE?
  23. Just ring-me, Thingmie.
