  1. They had contracts, I think they were just struggling to find working pens with which to sign them...
  2. You mean a savoury incident I dunno, once it's on the floor it becomes an 'unsavoury' in my book!
  3. The Fly

    Scottish Cup

I would go with Elgin - or, selfishly, Berwick away! Aberdeen must be dreading getting someone like Montrose or Buckie given their current form...
  4. I agree with Renegade - I would rather see us attack and win 4-2 which could end up 3-3 than try and sit in and grind out a 1-0 on the break which could just as easily be a 0-0.
  5. Attendance 5917 - not very good for Aberdeen!
  6. Another manager to add to ICTs Roll of Infamy ...
  7. I can't see any convincing reason why changing the club's name would increase support in any significant way. We had this discussion in around 2002 - I remember shouting 'Come on City' as a topical joke at The Recs one Saturday afternoon and it didn't exactly cause a spontaneous round of rejoicing!
  8. What happened? A night or two before the deal was annouced he went gurning on a second-rate football show on regional telly to gloat that he would soon be returning to the land of the seagull.
  9. Umm... Shearer didn't exactly announce his (and Pele's) departure in the most... er... diplomatic way IIRC :D
  10. It is pretty strange. I understand why they're letting Sunday ticket holders in, as they bought tickets for the climax. But as many won't be able to go on Monday it would have been good if those Friday ticket holders who could make it tomorrow could be let in. I suspect the organisers simply hadn't thought the extra day would happen, didn't make any plans, and now the shortage of time means it's too difficult to arrange without potentially causing chaos at the gate.
  11. The club would pay most of us NOT to play :-D
  12. Wallace off injured and Robson to left-back. Can't get much worse...
  13. Congrats!
  14. Nothing more I can say to add to what everyone else has said, absolutely gutted and my condolences to Iain and all.
  15. Changing in the ball boys' room might be an issue :D
  16. And the other thing is that lots of people now have phones that can pick up the interwebs, so if they forget the score they can just press a couple of keys.
  17. Agreed 100% on Ken Mackie's conduct throughout - I think that could well have been the thing that clinched it for us, apart from the obvious merits of our case. A different chairman taking a different attitude could have resulted in a different outcome. ISTR that Interthenet was there at Hampden, and possibly Iain Coia as well? I know one of them let out a yelp when the verdict was annouced by David Taylor (or was it someone else?) and he looked a bit startled momentarily
  18. Anfield didn't have a scoreboard until around five years ago so we are (or were) in good company!
  19. With the England team I do seriously wonder if they have the same sort of passion that most internationalists used to have, or if there's a general feeling that playing for your country having the World Cup Finals between seasons rather interferes with their plans to spend the ?2m per year they get for doing their day job. They seemed to play OK for Capello in the qualifying stages, and perhaps a World Cup winner's medal doesn't have the same appeal for many of today's England players as it did 40 years ago when it was the absolute peak of your footballing career. Now the key target seems to be when you negotiate that new contract that gives you ?80k a week to play for your club.
  20. This ain't exactly normal either: (from a local newspaper where the sub-editors have been replaced with computer software)
  21. I'm in London, and I'm not familiar with the camp sites around Inverness - there are quite a few though, more than around Falkirk I would guess! Here's one which is just to the west of the town and only 10-15 minutes drive from the stadium - or a long walk via the local pubs... :022: http://www.bunchrew-caravanpark.co.uk/gallery.aspx For the journey from Folkestone to Inverness I would recommend the route via M20, M25 anti-clockwise round London, M11, A14, A1, A66, M6, M74, M73, M80, A9 - the traffic on the M1 and M6 southern end can be horrible, and this route's usually quicker. I've done the journey from the start of the M11 to Inverness in 7 hours 20 minutes before (yes, I know that's an average greater than the speed limit!!), but realistically you'll probably be looking at around 10-11 hours driving from the tunnel. Good luck and enjoy the journey and match!
  22. If anyone's planning to drive all the way from Antwerpen then good luck A word of warning about the A9 from Perth to Inverness: it can get rather busy and slow, as much is just one lane each way. And in August there will probably be lots of Dutch tourists driving slowly and towing caravans, gawping at the mountains :)
  23. Agree - when you're considering an expedition such as this I'm sure it's continually explained and emphasised that you're going into an environment where rescue options are severely limited, and if something goes wrong in a bad location or at a bad time there's no way out. Having read that I wouldn't criticise the party, but respect their courage and what they did to try and save Peter, risking their safety even further than the basic expedition already had done. RIP, and I agree it would be good for something to be done to recognise his passing in the new season.
  24. How long before baby Brosno learns not to type? :D
