  1. Five league defeats in the last six does not read well. Yesterday I felt that Charlie should have started with Dargo up front and then sub him after about 60 minutes if he was knackered, by which time we might have been 3 up. Instead the lack of pace up front limited our effectiveness. It was no surprise that at only one goal down The Pars came out after half time all guns blazing. There were many occasions in the game when both Caff and Dods were outjumped by their opposite number and when neither knew which player to pick up. Russell Duncan kept giving the ball away. JR was anonymous in the midfield engine room in terms of tackling back and winning the ball - I agree that Richie Hart would have been a better choice. In saying all that though we never got the rub of the green from the ref, especially in the second half. For the The Pars' penalty Hammell was outside the box when Hastings tripped him. Then Barry was inside the box when he got what looked like a forearm smash in the face, but a free kick outside. Over the next few weeks we are going to have to grind out some results from the teams below us, who will all be scrapping to keep The Pars at bay. Let's hope Charlie can guide the team through that. P.S. Tam McManus is a F*d
  2. "Oh or all the Hibees are gay" isn't homophobic abuse, just abuse of Hibees, which they deserve.
  3. Ah, I remember the Home International games against Ingerland when you could sing "Bobby Moore, superstar, walks like a woman and he wears a bra" or "Jimmy Hill he's a poof". I guess songs like these would not be PC anymore.
  4. I fear the same, Chris. It will be more like a meaningless end of season game this Saturday despite having the top six to play for.
  5. What about Liam Buchanan from the Blue Brazil?
  6. .....and pretty much the same team that has failed to win any points out of the last nine, RiG. Some interesting comments folks and I would subscribe to the view about playing 4-5-1 next week with Bayne as the lone striker and perhaps giving Barry a free role. We will need the extra man in midfield to deal with Nakamura and Hartley. Perhaps Richie Hart could do a job in that respect. His tough tackling could help and I think Russell Duncan and Ian Black should play alongside him. It would then be a toss up between McBain and Rankin on the left. Rankin has certainly played better out on the left than Roy this season, but was poor in central midfield. As for the defence, I could venture to say bring in Caff for Tokely at right back, but Caff hasn't done too well there this season on the couple of occasions he has played there. On the subs bench we should have the young legs in Rory and Zander to throw on in the last 20 minutes, if it's still 0-0. No point holding out for a draw if we want our season to be meaningful beyond next week. After all I think we are going to struggle to make the Top Six. Here's to a semi final against Queen of the South.
  7. I know we didn't deserve to lose the Celtic and Hearts games and I don't suggest Charlie hits the panic button, but perhaps freshening up the team is necessary to make more scoring chances. I fear we could lose heavily next week if our midfield don't get a grip of the game early on. I see that Blackie and Markus came on as subs today. Maybe they should start next week.
  8. Time to rid Scottish football of this buffoon. If not then when Hearts season ticket sales drop by 10,000 for next season he might just get the message to clear off back to Minsk and take his Lithuanian loan signings with him. That's the only way Hearts will get close to an all Scottish team.
  9. Perhaps we should make a loan signing of the excellent national team keeper "with the big gob who thinks he's bigger than Hearts". After all he if can't even make their reserve team bench so he might as well come and warm our first team one.
  10. With regard to drinking before the match, did anyone else get to The Diggers around 11.30 am to discover it was not open? This "forced" us to accept second best, The Caley Sample Room, at the west end of Angle Park Terrace, just along from The Diggers. We managed to get a seat, have some great food and sample many of the Caledonian Brewery's finest ales. It is also child friendly with a section designated as a family area. Unfortunately we were the only ICT fans in there. There were plenty of Welsh rugby fans to get the crack with as well as Scots and Jambos without being crushed. So for next season we shall definitely go to back to the CSR and forget being uncontrollably jostled in The Diggers.
  11. We seemed to spend most of the second half giving the ball away. The passing game that has served us well in recent weeks went right out the window. Another poor showing from Roy McBain and Russell Duncan was just outnumbered. High punts to Bayne and MacAllister were mopped up easily by the Hearts defence. I would have had Blackie and Marcus on early in the second half when we could all see things were starting to go wrong. We effectively gifted the game to Hearts.
  12. On a small point about family sections at cup games, we were in the family section of Hampden for last year's Hearts v Gretna final and paid £20 for an adult and £10 for a child. The same prices would have applied if it was the Old Firm contesting the final. So why can't we have a family section for the quarter final? If there is no real answer it only serves to fuel the view that the club are trying to make as much money out of this tie as possible.
  13. "Am wondrin if abody kens if she cams fae da Shetland Isles.... I kent lots o' Goodlads up yonder when I used tae bide there a lang time ago.... " Emily's English. Goodlad is her married name and I think her husband is either from Dundee or St Andrews. I remember him being an Arab supporter when they first moved to Inverness (they were neighbours of ours).

    Support

I expected this and wasn't surprised to see many ST holders missing on Saturday. However, no doubt they will all be back with more to boot plus the usual Sellick fans wanting tickets for the next round in amongst the home support. We also had the steady trickle of early leavers again. I know the second half was dire, but why pay all that money to watch the game then leave 5 minutes or more before the end? Was it because they feared another last minute opposition goal?
  15. Yes Em moved away south a year past May. Her hubby got a job in Edinburgh I believe and they also kept in touch with Robbo, hence Em's "transfer" to the Livi dugout. I also noticed the sponsorship, but on her coat tail and not on her trackie bottoms.
  16. ........... it was somehwat ironic that the stewards at the Sellick end in the orange jackets normally work at Sellick Park. So they must allow their fans to stand up, smoke spliffs and drink Buckfast there at every home game. At least that's what the drunken scum under the Anton Rogan's W(S)h*te Supporter's Club Clydebank banner were doing. Yet when we go the Darkheid we are told to sit down, don't make gestures to the Tattie Munchers and wait 15 minutes after the game to let them clear the ground. Is it not about time the Supporters Club or Trust reps had a meeting with club officials and police about all the goings on and the one rule for us and ten others for the Old Scum?
  17. GFS, you summed up my feelings as well. I'm still seething from the way we lost it though. Just goes to show you have to be very lucky to win the SPL and the sooner that shower and their scumbag support feck aff to a European Super league the better. Looks like we will definitely need to sign a striker and a central defender before midnight on the 31st.
  18. 'Diggers' before 12 noon then? At least we'll get there before the rugby fans. Looking forward to it.
  19. More like war blindness from the bombardment of their defence last Sunday.
  20. Too true. Remember the drop in attendances for the Ayr and Plastic Whistle ties last season, even with lower prices. We'll lose many of the core support who will hope we get through and get a more lucrative tie in the next round (Deveronvale at PRP)?
  21. Good luck to him except if after Boric brings down one of our players in the box and gets sent off and then Mark comes on to face the resulting penalty.
  22. More than we would normally pay in the KBFE (17 & 13 squid). I suppose The Grocer has to try and find funds for transfers and wages from somewhere - greedy little beggar.
  23. I don't agree about being unfair to MacNeill, RiG. He spilled the ball twice before we scored our first. His short kicks to his defenders put them under pressure. It was also the fact that he was off his line for the second and third goals that Roy and Barry tried what they did. However, I would agree that Higgins gave the worst display of the season so far up here, especially for a guy of about 6'7".
  24. Nah, I don't like black strips. Too much like referee outfits. I don't know what it is about black away tops, they do nothing for me. I'd rather see more red in it (stripes of course).
