  1. 50k is a snip, even though he hasn't had a great season. If he was moving south from one of the central belt SPL teams, he would have been valued at about 10 times that!
  2. Just back from watching game on Setanta. Butcher's post match interview was class. Full of humour and optimism. Re the game itself, we created the better chances and could have won it despite Celtic having more of the ball. I thought Mihadjuks, Grant and Djebi-Zadi (yes, I do mean him) were immense in defense. Proctor and Tokeley dodgy. Latter was lucky to get away with a shoddy pass in his own box, which nearly gifted 'Tic a goal. Black showed more of his old commitment in mid field. Imrie was well worthy of MoM, and looked well up to SPL standard. Foran not fully fit, but looked useful. Unlucky to be given offside for his early 'goal'. Barrowman worked hard and Odhiambo looked dangerous in the few minutes he was on.Altogether a very encouraging performance. If we can continue with a good win over Killie in the cup, I think it will make all our relegation contenders sit up and start worrying. Well done to everyone involved.
  3. I'm sure Jimmy Shand and his band would have played in the Empire in the 60s. Does this count?
  4. Stennie v Elgin, draw @ 5.0, please
  5. Totally agree. There are more pluses than minuses for ICT in Butcher's Scotland connection.
  6. Well, barring last second hiccoughs, Terry's our man. Although not my own choice, of those supposedly on the short list, I think a good choice has been made, and I wish him all the best. What a first match he has got. I'm sure he will be well up for it, and I'm sure the team will be as well.
  7. I too posted the same thing. Its just crazy to keep someone who clearly is not interested in us anymore. I'm really surprised we haven't got shot of him in the transfer window!
  8. Yes, I think it would be a mistake to reappoint Robbo. You'd think we'd learned that lesson by now. Although my own candidate isn't in the likely short list, I'd like to see the club show some more ambition than the 'easy' option of Robbo.
  9. Forfar v Elgin, draw @ 4.0, please
  10. Johnboy Good managers cross international boundaries all the time. You only need to look at the number of foreign managers in the UK to realise that. I don't know if they've been to Inverness or not. I know that Steve ( a Londoner) had never been to Exeter before he took the job there, but that hasn't stopped him doing an outstanding job. Implied in your questions is the suggestion that we should only look for replacements from Scotland. I find this a bit old fashioned, even naive, if I may say so, in the nicest way.
  11. I too agree with most of what Starchief said.
  12. Again, welcome on board. I am sure there will be many worse recommendations then your one of Colin Calderwood!
  13. I wouldn't go for another former manager, even Robbo, although I wouldn't be surprised if this is the direction the club takes. We need a new team, from director of football, down. I'd go for the Exeter City duo of Paul Tisdale as manager and Steve Perryman MBE (the ex Spurs legend) as DOF. Exeter are a club not dissimilar to ICT. They even share the same sponsor, Flybe!, a provincial club with a similar sized loyal following. Exeter were on their knees about three years ago, due to mismanagement from boardroom level (ring any bells?). The arrival of Steve and Paul has worked wonders so much so that they won promotion back to EFL div 2 last year and are already challenging for a 'play off' place for Div 1. Paul is the typical young ambitious manager, and Steve is the wise 'old head' with an abundance of experience and contacts. The fact that I am a personal friend of Steve has not influenced my choice. I just know they would be good for us, and I'm sure affordable. They might take some persuading to move North, but I am convinced it would be a move in our long term interest.
  14. Inevitable I guess given the recent appalling run of league results, plus the ever increasing pressure from the fan base. However, this should only be step one. We badly need a Director of Football with more savvy and experience than at present. See my recommendation in the 'who do you want thread?'
  15. I'd take the money. A great profit on what we paid for him = good business. I feel he is not consistent enough to keep when we can turn a good profit on him.
  16. Good post. I didn't see the PT game, but Roy was certainly our best player against Rangers last week. Good to see him getting the credit he deserves.
  17. Well, I don't think any of us would have predicted this line up! Must be 'the last chance saloon' for Brewster. But fair play to him, at least he has tried to be different.
  18. Why is Fraser back in goals? Is it just to give him a run out? Surely Esson has established himself as no. 1 now!
  19. You've answered your own question. I would guess McAllister was on at leat ?500K a year at Leeds!. But there are lots of other good managers in English divs 2/3 who we could afford. We probably could have got Nigel Clough before he went to Derby, but my favourite would be Paul Tisdale of Exeter City, together with his Director of Football, Steve Perryman. They have done wonders at Exeter over the past three years.
  20. Just aswell you're not manager then. I'd be starting a 'Sack Renegade' campaign!
  21. Couldn't agree more. Get as much as we can then re-invest at least as much as that. Yes, I agree with those sentiments. Get rid of both Black and Cowie and get as much as we can for them. I've only seen them about 3 times this season but they've been cr*p every time. On top of that they'll be nothing but an unsettling influence on the rest of the team from now on.
  22. Spot on with that comment. I said exactly the same on another thread.
  23. I really wanted my 1000th post to be more positive, but why is it when we play well, the other team must have been below par? A team only plays as well as the opposition lets them. I'm largely in agreement with Absent Friend's post. I think the 'get Brewster out at all costs' attitude is colouring how most fans are viewing the team's performance. Sunday was not all bad. It only seems so as it follows some performances which were indeed, dire.
  24. Just watched it all on Setanta with a Rangers fan. Even he admitted there wasn't 3 goals between the teams. In my opinion we were let down by our 'so-called' stars, Black and Cowie, neither of whom got in the game. Get some money for Black this month I say, he clearly has no passion for playing for us anymore. Cowie missed his opportunity 'in the shop window' if he wants to go to Rangers. Doubt he'd make their first team squad. Some good performances, especially in first half, McBain and Vigurs, although he missed a great chance, and another couple of half chances. Essen, Proctor and Hastings get pass marks too from me. Not many others. We badly need someone to take the 'all too few' chances we create.
