  1. I saw a bird from the East end of London on some TV quiz show the other day. She gave her profession as Scots Gaelic teacher!. Now, that must be a bit special, Gaelic with a Cockney accent!
  2. Going off at a tangent, when I did a bit of part time limo driving a few years ago, I drove Malcolm Young (and his family) on a number of occasions. They live in Beaconsfield. His own car at that time was a really old, clapped out Jag, which he wouldn't change. He said if it was up to him he'd just have a van! His wife, by the way, is a delightful woman, absolutely down to earth, not at all affected by their celebrity status.
  3. Elgin @ 3.75 for me too, please. Nb. I'm away for next week (22/11). Can I have Elgin again to win that week, whatever the odds? Thanks.
  4. Even before my time (just)! That's Bobby Bolt (no 8) receiving the trophy, and 'Ginger Mckenzie (no 10). Unusual for Bolt to be no 8. He was always no 4 in the 1950s. Great crowd.
  5. I met a Blackburn Rovers scout, again, 'suited and booted', in a pub prior to a game at Motherwell a few seasons ago. He was there to watch Clarkson of 'Well. He asked me which ICT players were playing well at that time. I mentioned Mark Brown's name. He immediately asked how tall he was as he said Souness would never go for a keeper less than about 6' 2". I thought that Mark was shorter than that so he lost interest immediately. When I checked up later, for interest, it turns out that Mark is about 6'2". Anyway, obviously nothing came of it and I notice Clarkson is still at 'Well too.
  6. What a difference a week makes! Great result, well done boys. A repeat of our 5-in-a-row winning streak like we did before Xmas a couple of years ago is all we want now!
  7. I take it from these remarks that you would have made no changes to the side which got thrashed last week. I've never been pro Brewster, but in your eyes (and many others to be fair) he can do no right at all. He would have been pilloried by many on here if he had not changed last week's team. So what is he to do? Shades of Catch 22!
  8. I've only seen one game this season so far, but from what I've read, it seems the time is right to give Fraser a rest. If indeed Essen does get the nod on Saturday, I hope he is given a decent run in the first team. Not dropped after one game as Zibi was last year!
  9. Best Thistle keeper I saw was Danny Mowatt, but again this was way before most of you were around.
  10. Long before most of you were born, Willie Bruce was the best goalie I ever saw play for Caley, by a country mile! He was followed by Jim Smith, who came close to Bruce's level. A bit later, Kenny McKenzie was useful too.
  11. Ross County v QOS, draw @3.40, please
  12. Thanks anyway, but, yes, I do have that one. Probably worth about ?5 if you want to give the charity shop some idea.
  13. I've never had a Scottish bank note refused in England in all my 40 years down here!
  14. I know, its sad isn't it? Maybe I should take you up on the offer of one of your anoraks and take up train spotting too!
  15. Although I'm passionate about ICT, my first sporting love was, and always will be, cricket. I collect Wisden almanacs (an annual year book), particularly old ones. They have been going since 1864. I know its a long shot, but if any of you, or your parents, happen to have any lying about the house, I'd be prepared to offer a fair price for them.
  16. More or less what I said on in an earlier reply on this thread. Roscoe was 'absent without leave' for the second goal. As a right back, he just must cover the far post in this sort of situation. He provided no challenge to Loovens whatsoever. Although he's been a great servant to ICT over the years, I fear he is becoming a liability these days.
  17. Just watched the game on Setanta with a Rangers fan, who of course, today, was shouting for ICT as loudly as I was. I thought we played well, and clearly shaded the first half. If only Wood had scored that great chance! A few costly mistakes in second half. Why wasn't Tokeley challenging for the second goal at the far post? Nevertheless, if we can keep up this level all season, we will beat a lot of teams, and should, I hope, finish no worse than mid table. Cowie and Imrie both were magnificent. Overall, I was encouraged. A word too for the referee. He has had some shockers in the past, but today I thought he had a great match.
  18. I would think that a lot of Democrats are now sorry they didn't vote for Hilary Clinton. I agree with what has been said about McCain and his scary running mate, but I feel that when push comes to shove, voting for a black president will just be too big a step for many of the small town mentality, 'middle Americans'. So, I fear that McCain does have a chance, which is scary enough in his own right. But to think that with his age and medical past, if he were to 'keel over', the worldly wise, well travelled, 'hockey Mom' is waiting in the wings just doesn't bear thinking about. If it were not for America's poition of 'leader of the Western world', I would think it was quite funny.
  19. Again, Peterhead @ 2.30, please
  20. Yes, I've done that too. Sad isn't it?
  21. Yes, Gringo, Pride is my pint of choice if I can't get the other two I mentioned earlier. The golf club I play at fortunately does serve London Pride, so I'm never without a good pint for very long!
  22. We were extremely charitable in extending his contract a few months ago when most other clubs would have shown him the door then. However, I hope he can stay injury free and find his level, whatever and wherever that may be.
