Maybe not a groundswell. More of a light reprieve.
-
Ah well there goes that idea then. And as a matter of fact i was being totally sincere Wonder what Cannigia is doing nowadays? Would it harm to try and get some old geezer like that in though. One of genuine quality. Looking just to play football.
-
I'd take that. Maybe swapping Imrie for Vigurs to give more cover to the left full back postion. Or bring in McBAin for Imrie and leave Vigurs where is. i highly doubt we,ll see black in a ict jersey again, hes just biding his time until they sort out a deal with hearts, also dont reckon cowie will play more thna 1-2 more games I think Cowie has to start if available. In this formation wide right and stick McBain in where Duncan is perhaps. It is interesting the amount of people going with 1 up front, But with the right amount of supporting players it could be made a very attacking formation.

In all fairness perhaps Brew wants McAllister to show something on loan and get some 1st team experience. If he doesnt then no chance of a new deal.

We should make an audacious bid for Fat Ronaldo (as he is now affectionatly known I believe) Bags of experience, wealth of ability and a drinking problem to boot. The complete package! He's still without a club i think and the weather would be good for him. Also surely a man of his talents doesnt need to be super fit to play in the SPL. Heres the selling point though - "Hey Ron how aboot you come and play in the SPL for the wonderful club ICT. Sign for 18 months and in the next six months whilst you ease us out of relegation woes our top class fitness team (brew) will get you in the shape of your life. In the summer when a top English club comes in, you will be free to leave for due compensation. As we're a wee diddy team and couldnt dream to afford your wages, hows aboot you play for hee haw and what we'll do is split any transfer fee received for you 50/50 right doon the middle (whilst we also negotiate a sneaky future sell on fee into any deal likes) Hey presto, problem solved!

Judging purely on the game last nigh the Saints have a few decent players there. I liked the look of that tall forward (forget his name now) and Liam Craig had a good game. The player that i thought looked like he has a little something special was Gavin Swankie. He plays with a swagger, something that says he's got confidence and willing to take people on. I no longer watch alot of 1st division stuff due to lack of coverage and the fact we dont play there AND NEVER SHALL AGAIN* I thought St Johnstone aquitted themselves well against a pretty much full strength Gers team. It was most unfortunate for Caff with the OG. He must have caught that bug up here. I remember we had a spate of Own Goals for a period. (*note to Brew and Malky)

I think he could be a decent solid signing. He'll provide much needed competition at the very least. I also think like alot of Aberdeen players and management he would be subject to the gross over expectation at Pittodrie. Jeez Calderwood was still getting stick when he took them into Europe and beyond they group stages. Darren Mackie has been one of their most loyal subjects for years and gets weekly pelters so I take Aberdeen fans over inflated team grandeur with a pinch of salt. Fair doos they were good in the mid 80s. Thats about a quarter of a century ago though! So if he's a freebie then aye a solid signing in ma book. We could do alot worse.

Well I suppose we'll have to wait on the Cowie/Black front. See what happens with Hearts moving for Black. (rumours from Hearts Season ticket holders say Wednesday but im sure they were "reliably informed") And nothing concrete has come in for Cowie yet. Chances are unless a substancial bid comes in for him the board will hopefully hold out on the thinking keeping the player for 6 months and staying up would be more financially viable than selling him for pennies. They should do that with Black too. If Hearts want him now then force their hand. If they dont stump up we still have a capable player to help stave of relegation (however this would change if the player gets stroppy) as i feel while he's here he'll remain committed to the cause. He seems that type. His stubborn nature may help us out. But yes if they are both to go they'll need replaced. And i'd be happy to look at Harkins etc but not at 100k hopefully (60-75k with sell on clauses perhaps) Why not look at premiership kids looking for experience. They wont all cut it down there and will be looking for the chance to show what they can do.
-
If they can play i dont care where their from. But i still feel it's important to have a local core to the team. With a Scots majority. Im trying to think when we may have had 3 or more foreigners in the team at once. I think Hastings and Xausa, then Hastings and Juanjo, then Hastings and Rooney. Then my mind goes blank. Have we played Hastings, Zadi and Rooney together?
-
The transfer details were undisclosed. One does wonder if we paid a nominal fee at all. Still if they do the job you wont get any complaints on this front. Still reckon we need two players in a solid experienced defender and experieced striker. And then get rid of Maguire.
-
Would anyone else find it funny if...
-
Cant panic this early in the window. The management team will be looking around for the right deal.
-
Perhaps it's the old ICT thing of somehow bringing out talent in players who have it but have let it go astray. He'll be superb then someone will nick him from us no doubt!
-
Nah we'll get the usual 3 min max! I imagine Ayr - Killie will be top billing followed by Celtic and Aberdeen
-
So has big Pavels fully signed for us or can you play trialists in the cup? Anyway a good result against a potential banana skin with good debuts for Morais and Mihadjuks and a good 3-0 scoreline at home to boot. However lets not get carried away. Brew aint safe in my book by a long shot and has alot of work to do. First of all it was against 1st division opposition and 1st division opposition that have as bad an away record as we do at home. Its a cup game. The league is still the priority. If we dont get 3 points next weekend it will be really hard and if we get beat this result is meaningless. I hope though that it breeds confidence and we can build on todays good result. Also a cup run would be good for the coffers im sure.

From what i remember of Morais time at St Johnstone he did very well there. He then signed for hibs and has tailed of a bit. But he is the type of rough around the edges player that we sign and does well. A nippy wee skilful player. Look at Robson, Wyness, Dods, Dargo, Juanjo to name but a few. Think it was more of a case of wrong place wrong time and drink involved in the Casino. Good chance he was recognised and trouble flared up with him being lumped with the blame. And Hibees are miserable so it's a fair chance it may have knocked his confidence there. Thierri Gatheussi is a bit of a rash player. Has ability but sometime sleeps. I think he'd be decent on the flanks of midfield. Touch dangerous at the back. Something like - GK RB - CB - CB - LB Cowie - Black - Vigurs - GATHEUSSI MORAIS ST Hope they dont take too long to settle in. I still think it's a commanding and experieced centre half we really need. A fairly experienced forward wouldnt be bad. Hey how aboot Robbie Fowler

Playing for Blackburn and of a similar age, perhaps Black recommended him?
-
Thats utterly deplorable! Paying their fans to get in that dump is the least they should do. However i hear they were thinking of throwing in a free county pie......... ..................... but thought better of it

How aboot(if all fit available etc) Esson Tokely - Duff - Munro - Hastings Z Sutherland - Black/Cowie/Vigurs* - Imrie Rooney - Barrowman Subs: Fraser; Proctor, Lionel, *, Wood * represents i want 2 of the 3 central midfields. I'd rather Vigurs be in there to start but take pick of the other two I've went with two wingers on their correct sides. two strikers. One with a good touch and strength and the other a good finisher (who hopefully will stick to rule 483 unwritten football rules of scoring against your old team) The aim will be to use wings (thats the wide parts on a pitch) to get the ball down and cross (thats when you have the ball wide and play it across into the opposition box) and score (when you put the ball in the net) Hopefully this will make us all smile for a short time (when your mouth stretches wider in an upwords cresent sometimes baring teeth or gums depending on age. often associated with happiness) I've taken the liberty of explaining things that some may have forgotten about.
-
Players in their correct positions? Why thats just crazy talk! Get him outta central defence anyway. And if the board do see sense and sack brew i wont shed a tear if Proctor follows him again. He's decent midfield/right back cover but thats all.
-
Turning a defender or puting him on the back foot are key elements to creating scoring chances. And although against Rangers we didnt hoof it high towards Weir and Bougerra it was consistently passed to feet beside them with only Barrowman trying to compete. He didnt have a hope in hell of getting any change from this. I thought maybe Barrowman is **** poor but if thats what he's given to feed off every game, then he's fighting a losing battle, EVERY GAME.
-
Could we not use Elgin, Brechin, Peterhead or whoever as a feeder side. Loan out more promising kids they to get the next step in their development? I do think that removal of the reserves could be deprimental to the top end game in Scotland. Maybe downsized somehow but to scrap it altogether would be daft.
-
You'd think with Black now off for definites the club would take a more pro active stance in tying up the other out of contract players on new deals. His wages will free up money in the budget. It would be nice to see the out of contract lads tied up on long term deals. But then again this is ICT here i'm talking about. Not a sensible lot. My philosophy would be to always get players on 3 year deals minimum (unless over 32/ under 19) and if their not cutting the mustard they can be granted free transfers or nominal fee deals elsewhere. Or released if needs be. And get them signed up early if they're key players. Dont give them the opportunity to let their eyes get caught by sparkles in the distance so to speak. Let your fringe players sweat it out. Make THEM the ones who have to fight for their new deal and create a compeditive squad spirit as opposed to a restless one.
-
Mendes is probably the most technically gifted player in the SPL but not world class. If this was the case he wouldnt be playing for Rangers and would have cost a bit more than ?3m. Regardless of what people think of him and how good the finish was, to give a player with his long range ability time and space to pick his spot is suicide.

We don't spend the time in practice sessions going over them. Surely even if we dont practise it, it could still be a tactic? I saw 1 good cross from us in the whole game and we nearly scored. We had one free kick i can remember just outside the box but couldnt beat the wall. More of them means more chances. More chance of scoring.
