The fans already have a shareholding in ICT. Many individual fans purchased shares. The supporters trust holds shares. Although your idea seems a good one I think it would be a struggle to get 2000 to put up that kind of money. We already have a sponsorship system whereby fans can sponsor players kit. There are many gaps there waiting to be filled. We struggle to sell much more than 2000 season tickets and people are constantly complaining about cost of the game. Where would your 2000 come from? Bear in mind that we are a PLC and that the majority of the shares are already owned by a few individuals. How would this scheme gain enough of a stake to get an active boardroom role. Funds would need to be raised to buy out some of the shareholding. Those funds would go to the sellers and not the business.

I'd like to think it was the pints more than the age that was the problem.

CaleyAway Meeting Place in Glasgow
That your flegs flying behind ye too? DOH No these are the flags that fly outside the Loudon Tavern hostelry which is frequented by rabid huns about half a mile from the piggery Celtic Park. I always wear my running shorts and training shoes in case of trouble or if IHE chases me for another double voddie. Alex - It only took me 13 minutes today. I noted that you just made it before KO. See I couldnt do it in 13 mins. Too many pubs on route. Took me about half hour to walk back to Queen St but then I did stop in a Gallowgate bar for a comfort break. Was in stadium in plenty time for the k.o.

Helping out Hearts
We are not giving Hearts a handout though. We are encouraging their fans to come support their team and, in return, will give those fans some cash towards their fighting fund. Besides Hearts are on a signing embargo so unable to buy players.

How much is wee Billy worth?
What he's worth and what we'd accept are probably two figures well apart. I would think if a half mill offer came in we'd let him go. I believe we already have cover for him. The thing is though, we moulded him over a season before he became the scorer he turned out to be so we'd likely need to do the same for whoever steps in. That could lose us ground. The next question......who could afford him? Only Celtic in Scotland. How would he fair in England. Would he be a Don Cowie who was fairly successful down south or would he be an Adam Rooney who didnt fair so well? The lad is getting himself known with us. He's an International. A move away could affect his international status.

Helping out Hearts
If the situations had been the same then yes. As it was there wasn't a fans group trying to save Rangers. Just a few business people trying to make a killing. Nobody attempted to prevent a Rangers liquidation. They just blindly followed all they were being told.

Helping out Hearts
Personally I wouldn't blame the Hearts faithful for the state of their club any more than I'd expect our fans to be blamed if the shoe was on the other foot. The 1874 are trying their best to save the club and bring it into an element of fan ownership. They are also trying to ensure that matches can still be played at Tynecastle. Our club, St Johnstone and St Mirren, I believe, have all put it to those fans that if they can muster a good travelling support their fighting fund will benefit. In the early years of our existance in SPL Hearts took a big following to Inverness. That has, in recent years, dwindled to an average 6 - 7 hundred. This gesture, if the Hearts forums are true, will see the away end full and our own bank balance increased by a considerable amount. This gesture will boost the 1874 fighting fund. It will also improve the relationship we have with Hearts FC and the relationship between fans. For me its a win win situation. It would be very easy to say that clubs should be allowed to go to the wall, and I respect the viewpoint of those who deem that to be the correct thing, but without clubs there wont be leagues. I believe it is our duty and right, as fans, to voice opinions and concerns and to make it known to those running clubs that buying success is not the way forward. When clubs are run wrongly and get into difficulty its the fans who suffer. Its the fans who lose out. We, as Inverness Caledonian Thistle Fans, can do a lot to promote how our club is being run and how we are achieving success without breaking the bank. If we can do it, if St Johnstone can do it, if St Mirren can do it then so can others.

Merger Talk
Something I read when looking at teams in Euro qualifiers. We constantly talk about merger and just stuck in mind because it was like the opposite to our situation. That and your mention of being involved with them likely makes them stand out a bit more. Also they got beat 2-0 last night against Estoril. Can they come back from that?

Ian Black
A few years ago an ex footballer friend of mine suggested I place a bet on a central belt third div team. This team was playing at home against a north team in a near end of season league match. The team in question had not won a match all season and the north team had hammered them on the three previous occassions they had met. No prizes for guessing who won. Match fixing and gambling among players has gone on forever and will continue to do so. Probably if you could delve deep into the people who uphold the rules and run the game you'd find many of them with murky past playing careers. One or two get caught and get punished. They are only the very tip of this iceberg. So long as there are bookies there will be people who can see ways to make a quick buck.
