Vigurs topics (merged)

This thread is an indirect statement from Iain Vigurs who wishes to thank the fans on the forum who have expressed their support for him. He also states that he loved his time at ICT and felt very much at home in Inverness. Iain also says that his first team experiences under Craig Brewtser was the highlight of his young football career and was looking forward to contributing to Caley's campaign to remain in the SPL and future seasons at the club.

Unfortunatley this was not to be and would now like to wish the fans and the club all the best for the future, especially for next season.

Regards

Iain Vigurs.

Sorry to see you go Iain. I thought with good young players like you we had a chance of fighting our way back into the SPL.

Good luck in the future - this decision will probably come back and bite us on the backside.

the door will always be open to caley thistle as far as the fans are concerned iain, all the best lad

Looks like we are wanting to sign him by offering him a trial. Signed two players in the last two days too so the squad is shaping up nicely and quite fast.

Bet he scores against us in the first fecking Derby...

Decision has probably been out of Butcher's hands, if what's on the other thread is true. He will be a superb first division player.

Vigurs is signing for Ross County tomorrow morning. It's a shame that County can offer him a very nice deal but ICT cant...

It is a great shame.... and it could backfire on ICT in a big way.

:allhail:

All the best Iain.

Crazy decision by ICT to let you go and I have no doubt it's yet another big mistake

The tables have turned... :allhail:

Hopefully Vigurs will do well if he ends up signing.

How do you figure that? We usually cherrypick your best players and you get our cast offs! So can't see the difference here.

Vigurs isn't a castoff, well done County Adams obviously knows what he's doing.

Sadly County's decision to take Vigurs and Wood was most likely influenced by our old friend Mr Brewster

who rated both players highly.

Quite a nice squad they're building over the bridge.

Aye.. and Brewster is well qualified to get the best out of 'talent'

Vigurs and Wodd unfortunatley are now the enemy, and as such will get treatment if they play for county against us.

Neither were great players for us and i'm sure the club will secure the services of better players.

Can't understand why we are losing a talented young player like Iain - especially to a downmarket village team like C**nty.

All the best Iain!

What would you call it then?

Why do you say that?

really happy so far and virgurs will do well just cant understand why he got punted from you lot hope he proves alot of your staff wrong

Ian Vigurs was our most promising youngster and one of a select group of ICT players that can pass the ball.

Oh he's gone has Iain Vigurs, Oh he's gone has Iain Vigurs,

He used to be alright but now he's shyte and

living in a Tinker's caravan.

Why do you say that?

Ian Vigurs was our most promising youngster and one of a select group of ICT players that can pass the ball.

He arrived at Elgin at 15 y/o played about 20 odd games then signed for ICT and in the 4 years since then has played 20 odd games, which part of promising were you thinking of, 6 years and an everage of 8 starts a season? Everyone has jumped on the band wagon of Vigurs but no one seems to have given a second thought to Zander, same age only been on the pro books 3 years played twice as many times for Elgin and over twice as many for ICT has also chipped in with more goals, and while at Elgin got nominated for 3rd Div Player of Year. He didn't get a chance with Butcher due to injury (think he had an Op) and also released, I think this is who we should be moaning about losing rather than Vigurs or Wood but of course Zander doesn't have his mate on here to push through his personal agenda(CaleyP)!!

Come on folks - ALL these so called stars are HISTORY so lets let it go!

Ian Black only started 7 first team games for us in his first season at a similar age as Vigurs and he ended up doing rather well. It's also worth mentioning that for a while Iain was vying for place in midfield against quite a few decent and/or more established players eg John Rankin, Don Cowie, Ian Black, Barry Wilson, Russell Duncan & even Ritchie Hart. I don't think anyone is arguing that he was the finished article but most of us could see he had the potential to become a really good player with experience. Sadly that experience is going to come at our local rivals.

Black seems to be about the only young player (that I can recall) that has become established in the side during the last 5 or 6 seasons. Of course the argument could be that the others weren't good enough but in my opinion ICT have been very reluctant to blood youngsters of late due to the fact we were always chasing ???'s (in terms of SPL places and the finances associated) Rather than give the likes of Vigurs, Sutherland, etc a run out in the 'meaningless' post-split fixtures we'd always field experienced players like McBain to churn out safe, average performances rather than find out more about the younger players. Of course this policy is going to come back to haunt us as we now only have an experienced core of aging players and untried Under 19's.
