Deadline Day activity

Do you guys think we will sign anybody before tomorrows deadline?

After reading this article (http://www.teamtalk.com/scottish-premier/8454430/Butcher-looking-for-more-players?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter), i think we can maybe expect some activity but wouldn't be too disappointed if we didn't sign anybody.

To be honest, i think its more important that we hold onto our current squad with no one leaving before 2300 tomorrow :).

Agreed about Boyd, lazy workshy player who would never fit into a team that has a team ethic.

Back to Castle Greyskull then?

3rd and then 2nd Division football for him and recall to the Scotland team under his former manager?. Seems legit.

Steven Craig, Joe Malin, Jonathan Bateson, Kurtis Byrne, Russell Duncan, Ross Tokely, Marc Fitzpatrick - All released by them over the bridge...

Just thought i'd mention it, really.

Ah, but what is a team ethic?  A good team whether in football or any other walk of life is is one where the results are better than you might expect given the individual attrributes of the team members.  In football the aim in any match is to score more goals than your opponents do.  Boyd scores goals but he is not adaptable.  He will score goals if the team plays to his strengths but not if they don't.  Boyd's strength is that he often appears to be a lazy uninterested spectator and then the defenders lay off him and suddenly there is half a chance and - boom.  It's in the back of the net.  If the game plan is built round his strengths and the attributes of the rest of the team can create the opportunities for him then he will be an asset to the team.

Just because he doesn't run around like a headless chicken looking for the ball when he's not getting a touch does not mean he's not a team player.  It means his team mates aren't doing their role in the team well enough.

Outscored any other player in the history of the SPL including Larsson? He's good enough for any of the other 11 sides i reckon.  Whether or not he's worth the ridiculous wages is another thing though.

Exactly. What else do you want him to do? Charge around like a headless lunatic chasing lost causes or be in amongst the goals like he has been throughout his career?   Any SPL team would be mad not to take him if they could.
  Tade vs Boyd??.
Boyd > Tade.

Dean McDonald > No-one

He was rubbish!

Except that Sevco can't sign new players until 31st August

I see Kevin Thomson has been released. Terrific player when fit. Injury record atrocious of course.

Agree that's he's a good player but if we signed him, he would last about 5 minutes in a game vs County.

Well spotted. Interesting, but not altogether surprising, that we were looking for another outright striker.

If Mackay gets injured or suspended, we have some options, but simply don't have a ready made stand-in who would do the same role to the same standard.

The few times Foran has played centre forward he has looked really good in that area, would allow us to give the likes of Pepper or Ross more of a run out. Dosent speak for much just now though given that Foran is injured.
