I do hope Devine's decision to consider other options is not driven by comments from fans on this forum.  A small number of folk have been pretty harsh on him.  And in defending Raven against the appa

Whether Eddie or someone else, an experienced striker is a priority. We can, at a pinch, cover every other position with what we've got.

Someone said he was going to Wigan? If not, I think he's exactly what is needed.

Wouldn't surprise me especially with Gary Caldwell as their manager but with us having European Football it could still be a possiblity.

I can understand why Nick Ross would want to leave but strangely I think he's never been more suited to the management and teams style of play than now.

It's a funny ol' game innit!

Notice that the tweet said that talks were continuing with Ofere. Does that suggest then that Watkins (who's certainly away), Ross and Kink are away? I think it might do.

Did Devine not sign a two year deal by the way?

Devine was a one-year deal with an option of an other year after that

If Ross hasn't signed it is because the deal isn't good enough.

I don't agree fully here Harry, that may be part of it but I think not getting a regular 90 minutes and the opportunity to experience a completely new challenge may appeal.

Either way, we're both hoping he stays.

I reckon a one year deal may be the best option for both parties here.

But that's my point KB, if Ross is made to feel wanted and told that Yogi's intentions are for him to be a first team player (i.e. shown by a competitive contract) then I'm sure he would be convinced to stay.  I just don't get the impression that Yogi thinks of him as a first team regular, which is a shame considering he is probably one of the most talented footballers Inverness has produced.

He's been at ICT for 15 years, from the age of 8 through all the youth ranks. He's publicly stated that he'd like to move on - perfectly understandable.

Paradoxically, victims of our own success here, but what better time to move than after having just lifted the Scottish Cup!

Football's a short career and he might never get the chance to compete in Europe again... not a lot of professional footballers do.  That's got to be an attractive option to him.  From a professional point of view as well would this not considered a failure by not nailing down a first team place in his hometeam. Before moving on to greener pastures should he not first concentrate on making himself the first name on the team sheet, which I defintely think he is capable of.

Definitely.  I think he will be very lucky to find a team that suits him more and likewise he is the sort of player that we would need to try and attract to replace him.  I think both parties would lose out if the contract is not agreed.

I do find it odd that Yogi doesn't play him more, I think Nick's skill and ability and Yogi's desired playing style go hand in hand.  But what would I know!

I might be wrong but I think it was Macrae I saw playing for the U20s a couple of months back playing in the number 10 role.  I thought he looked a player.

Both of them have been in and around the U20's this last season and even played once or twice two seasons back

I do find it odd that Yogi doesn't play him more, I think Nick's skill and ability and Yogi's desired playing style go hand in hand.  But what would I know!

Ross, IMHO, is the best passer of the ball we have. I find it bizarre he hasn't featured more over the past season. If he leaves I'll be very disappointed.

I agree totally but if he played who missed out. Maybe when we had the two bad runs things may have been shaken up a bit more allowing Nick in at times but on the overview of the season the players picked did the job but I do think Nick would start more games ( a lot more ) if he stays at TCS.

Andrew Macrae is the next Ryan Christie

While undoubtedly Nick Ross is a talented footballer, has he really played better that other players to deserve a more regular starting slot. I don't think he has and until he shows he is deserving of a start every week, then he should not be guaranteed one. If he moves, is he guaranteed a regular start wherever he ends up?.

I agree Huisdean and to be quite frank I am quite puzzled as to why Nick wants to leave and I think the likely reason only he knows.

I actually have to disagree with some of the comments on Nick Ross, I think he is too good a player to wait around and play 2-3 minutes here and there and I think fair play to him that he is not content to pick up a wage and just sit on the bench doing so when many others would have just signed another year. He will be a big loss to the club especially being a local lad but good on him for wanting a new challenge and should he go then that cup semi final goal will live long in the memory.

Nick Ross has a cup winner's medal with his hometown team: surely that will be the pinnacle of his career.  He's a good squad player for us but if he wants regular first team football and new challenges he will need to move.  I don't know what he is looking for or expects in terms of contract offers, but to be honest, I think his style of play is more suited to ICT than many other clubs and it would not surprise me if the prospect of regular first team football would only be offered elsewhere at a wage he would not want to accept.  Lack of offers may result in him staying put and trying to make the most of the opportunities he will undoubtedly still get here.
