Forres Info

ForresAway.pngThere will be stewards undertaking temperature checks at the gate – we would appreciate all supporters arriving in plenty of time to account for this.

There will be no fee charged upon entry however there will be buckets for donations – any contributions would be greatly appreciated by the Forres.

In the interests of safety, please make your tenner into a paper plane and attempt to flight it into the bucket from a minimum distance of 2 metres.

If Doran hasn’t signed a new contract I thought he would have to play as a trialist, but he was a named player.

It looks as though Doran and Cammy MacKay are part of the squad for the new season, so presumably they remain under contract. They possibly signed extensions which have not been announced, or the dates we believed previously may not be correct.

It would be good if the club could clarify it to take the uncertainty away for supporters.

I think it is clear that they were both out of contract this month.

Given the, at best, patchy communication by the club, signing new contracts which the club is being tardy in announcing seems the most likely.

RESULT  0 - 1 looking forward to tm4tj's assessment report.

Early days but a very slight concern that we were not able to score from open play against a mid table Highland League team.

Positive though that we have now gone two games without conceding.

Who is Hennem? Is he another youngster?

Yes. He has been part of our academy set up.

He played well in the game that was on CJTV and scored a cracking goal, he looks promising and it is good he is with us and not County as he is from Tain.

***** result in all honesty. 0 - 1 against an average HL side is **** poor. How the management can be happy with that is beyond me.

OK, I'll put it in perspective for you. We started the game with three regulars and seven youngsters and one new midfielder. Get an effing grip. It's pre-season not the world cup final.

I thought pre-season was about getting the lads up to speed. It actually makes the scenario worse because it's a complete waste of time. What did we learn from the exercise? A load of kids who will barely feature in the league can beat an HL side. Some people seem to have a serious dose of the happy clapping!

No we learnt fyffe and mackay had a clean sheet.

Great. 30 more clean sheets and30 more penalties and we get promotion.

Happy clapping  is the only thing that makes sense in training games...

There must be some reason for that level of grumpiness following a gentle pre season workout which, when all said and done, we won.😁

Is it a concern that so many first team players are hardly featuring or have not been in the squad so far? Hopefully we don’t have a lot of injury or fitness concerns, as the start of last season was badly hampered by injuries.

Off the top of my head, we have not seen Duffy, Devine, Deas, Allardice, MacGregor, McDonald or Mckay in the squad so far.

Might want to take into account that it was mostly youth/reserve against the Can Cans First Team. It's a more than decent result on a day that was the epitome of summer football that everyone missed out on last summer. Granted we should've slotted home the first pen or the rebound, but otherwise it wasn't an overly awful game. Sure it dragged a bit at times, but again, it was more or less schoolkids against an actual football team

Hopefully our new sport fitness specialist is limiting the games for some of the senior players to prevent early season strains.

As for the results - we would like to see big wins against HL teams but then people will just question the standard of opponent, and it is still early days.

Either way we have to be aiming for a good competitive start this year - a poor start and early exit from the league cup is becoming a bad habit which has cost us later in the year.

Regadless of opposition it gives the coaching staff an oportunity to assess levels of players attitude, concentration, fitness, team support, interraction and all sorts of abilities under different circumstances. It also guages

and promotes togetherness, willingness and hunger forTeam selection when the season starts in earnest.

Yes goal fests are great to see but  remember our top players are playing in wekened sides and have suddenly found themselves having to be more aware of what is going on around them as well as playing their usual roles.

Gratifying to be getting clean sheets though.

Brora, although still Highland league, will be a much more challenging  proposition for us and if we perform well there I for one will be saying that is good progress.

We will have a much better idea once many of our international players, playing for their various countries, return from the Euros.
