Question for the stattos. What are the largest Scottish towns not to have a league football team?

Glenrothes? East Kilbride?

Would Dingwall qualify?

I must admit Dingwall was my first thought  :015: :015: :015:

A quick glance at the grey bits on the road atlas suggests East Kilbride and Glenrothes but also:

Irvine, Helensburgh, Alexandria, Grangemouth and loads of places near Glasgow that just run into each other, like Blantyre.

All bigger than places like Montrose and Cowdenbeath which already have clubs, which begs another question: what is the smallest place to actually have a league club?

Think the smallest place with a team is Brechin.

Does Brechin not have a greater population than Dingwall ? Anyway, the village of Gretna is smaller than both.

Brechin population..................approx 8,000

Dingwall      "        ..................approx 5,000

Gretna        "        ..................approx 3000

Towns without a team..........Oban (8,200)

                                            Peebles (8,000)

                                            Musselburgh(22,000)

Oh and I forgot Fort William pop..11,000

I suppose the residents just troop along to watch their neighbours Motherwell on Saturdays, similar to what the good folk of Dingwall will be doing soon if they want to see something better than 2nd Division football.

Cumbernauld? Does it have a team? Pop 50,000-ish
