  1. If you could take any ICT player from the past, and apply them and their attributes to todays team....which player would you like to add to todays team and why? Personally.....I would like to see Paul Cherry back in midfield. This guy ruled the midfield, he was the General. Within 10 mins of the K.O, there was no doubt about who was calling the shots. he would give us so much dig in midfield.

  2. Having done a little research in the night niether of the U-13 or U-14 teams reached the finals of thier respective competitions. However they were by no means shamed and indeed were given very good reports for thier endeavours. Results were: U-13's ICT 1 - 2 Crumlin Utd - ICT 1 - 0 Drogheda - ICT 0 - 1 Dundalk - ICT 2 - 1 Lucan UTD - ICT 3 - 2 Friends Select U-14's ICT 1 - 0 Crumlin - ICT 0 - 1 Drogheda - ICT 1 - 0 East Antrim - ICT 2 - 2 Shelborne

  3. Hot on the heels of my other fantasy thread....having been reminded of how many great players at the club we have had...thought it would be fun to do our all time ICT XI....and preferred formation if desired. See how our selections differed. Max of 6 subs....(to make it that bit more difficult) Mine would be Brown Teasdale Dods Mann Golabeck Wilson Sheerin Hayes Bingham Christie Dargo Subs: Calder Tokely Black Foran Robson Ritchie

  5. Celtic 'fans' from Inverness? Hope they get ejected. It's against SPL rules to sit in the wrong area no? Don't think so. I think its just team Colours or Celebrating the opposition goal when being in the other teams end which is deemed Ejectable. Which end will you be in? :_lol:

  7. It must just be me then. I thought Nick Ross was like the Morton game, I know, I know, he scored, but apart from that he was brushed aside and unable to get past his markers. Gil was much the same, and there endeth the creators for Rooney who ploughed a lone furrow. On the plus side, McCann looked comfortable and Proctor was solid alongside the outstanding Rossco. Gillet started efficiently but as mentioned left a hole at the back after foraging forward and had a couple of sliced clearances, but overall was ok. Duncan upended a couple of guys, nothing malicious, just vicious. Tuffey had nothing to do other than clear pass backs which he did effectively. Man of the moment Eric was a close run thing for MoM with Rossco. He looks very sharp and if only he would have a dig from distance he might have made the keeper work, but he looke dthe one most likely to open the Real defence. Cox and Rooney having the only decent attempts at scoring although Nick Ross could have done better when he hit the ball into the ground as he snatched at a strike in the first half. Penalty claim, I thought his foot was blocked, but he did go down open armed. Otherwise, a dull first half, brightened up a little in the second but always intriguing. For Valladolid, their small number 21 was full of tricks and was easy on the eye. The sooner Hayes and Foran are fit, the better.

  8. Enjoyed that. No goals but a real clash of footballing styles. You had to admire RV's passing. In the first half, particularly, there were long spells where we couldn't get a foot on the ball. I was also impressed by their tackling at key moments when our players were moving into dangerous positions. Our guys could never afford to hesitate or one of them was right on top of them. Up front they lacked a cutting edge. Plus points for us were good performance in defence where Rosscoe was superb, Proctor played well on his comeback and Gillet did well on his debut.

  9. How exactly are we in the early part of pre-season when this is one of our final friendlies and the start of the League is about a week and a half away?

  10. I think we should get GMS as he would be a brilliant rotational player and he is very young which could lead to a future sell provided he doesn't get injured too often

  11. And you chose not to answer the question but would rather skirt the issue. I was under the impression the season was under way on Saturday as we had our first competitive match and as Jaggie 1994 pointed out it is the league that starts in a week and a half. I may be wrong but I believe it takes a big man to admit when he's wrong.

  14. Defensively solid all the way throughout the night. All four defenders looked unbreakable and as mentioned Gillet had a good debut. Tuffey also did well when required and kept a clean sheet on his home debut. Without Hayes and Foran we struggle to really create anything, Odi and Ross looked really lively but struggled to really prouduce a final ball of any kind. I'd say we could mayb'e use another wide player of some sort. Has Mackay-Steven actually departed yet? Valladolid looked a good side, slick passing, tasty skills...but struggled to break us down which was great to see ahead of the opening game Despite it being a no score there was alot of positives from tonight, looking forward to Saturday.

  15. I think two players, certainly SPL wise, that we have never replaced are the aforementioned Dods but also Dargo as well. To have a striker capable of scoring 15 + goals for a bottom six team is an absolute dream to most these days. Hopefully Rooney can make the step up this season after last seasons excellent form but goals win you games and we didn't have anyone like Dargo up front for us after he left. Niculae came in and whilst he had a lot of wonderful touches and link up play his eight (?) goals that season didn't really help us out much. Dods is the other obvious one. Your typical no nonsense defender - get the ball and batter it clear. He looked clumsy and awkward at times but he put his head in where it hurts and pretty much was our defence whilst he was here. He was an unbelievable player for us which is staggering considering how many of fans, myself included, thought that his signing was somewhat bizarre and something of a desperation move by Robbo at the time. Maybe a lesser one would also be Rankin. We didn't score many goals from midfield last season (depending how you view Hayes) and he chipped in with a fair few goals for us. As did Cowie in his first season with us. Looking further back at players who you could bring back then obvious ones like Wilson, Bingham, Ritchie, Robson, Stewart, Mann, Christie all come up. I would quite like to have seen Mike Teasdale playing again. He went on some fantastic runs from left or right back for us. I mind he scored a blinder of a goal against County in Dingwall. Bursting up the left side he cut infield and sent a curling shot into the top right corner of the net in a 3 - 0 win (I think that's the right game). Great stuff! EDIT: Paul Sheerin as well would be brilliant to have back. His passing was superb and he took a mean set piece as well as finding the net on more than a few occasions.

  17. Don't know who it was, but the first announcer said "I am not going to even read out the Spanish team" How offensive was that? No-one expects perfect pronounciation, but to not even attempt is nothing short of racism. More amateur hour stuff, showing us to be Highland hicks in front of our visitors. Get a pro in, if the amateurs can't cut it. Get Don back, he would have had a try.
