Yes indeed "last night" is a real favourite of newspapers when they try to kid the public that they're not really hours behind more rapid response media such internet, radio and TV. For instance you might get something like: "Ex Rangers stopper Terry Butcher LAST NIGHT swooped from his secret Highland hideaway to snap up crack Dutch hit man Ruud Boogers on a one year deal. The Highlanders' boss, who has been ordered to appear before Hampden beaks following his latest rant against Scottish whistlers, had been tracking the busty goal ace since the flying Dutchman issued a 'come and get me' plea just before the last transfer window slammed shut. The England legend has now signed Boogers from under the nose of his old mate and fellow Ibrox legend Coisty, whose derisory wage offer of 50p a week was described by Boogers' agent Dick van Dyke as 'woeful, but I suppose it's the best they can afford'." Now what this really means is that LAST NIGHT, Terry was actually at home in Abriachan enjoying a glass or red wine and reflectiing over his latest signing who had put pen to paper first thing that morning, as reported throughout the day by broadcasters and internet.

A "secret highland hideaway" = any house north of Perth
  4. Far too many people really do have an over-inflated opinion on the worth of SPL Football. For the vast (and I'm talking guesstimations in the upper 90's percentage wise) majority of Sky Subscribers SPL football is merely something they happen upon when flicking through the channels. Sky/ESPN will value the product on that basis. The assumption that if Rangers are not in the SPL that they will lose all Rangers Fans as subscribers is also ridiculous. Are these people really going to give up all other football they watch, F1, Golf etc etc and cancel? Highly unlikely. Of course, being the ruthless commercial organisation that they are then Sky/ESPN will use the situation as a means by which to knock a bit off the deal, but if the get rid of the SPL then they have to replace it with something else and they have all the expense and time that comes with having to do that....too much hassle for such a small product. In the grand scheme of things the SPL is worth no more or less to Sky/ESPN than stuff like speedway, husky dog racing, womens beach volleyball etc. It's curiosity TV for the bulk of their subscribers who would are no more likely to subscribe to packages because of it than they are to cancel if it was gone. IMO....Clubs, SPL, Media etc are all pedalling the "No Rangers, No Sky" line for no good reason other than it serves their own personal agenda and it's easier than growing a pair and making a proper decision for the right reasons.
  5. Other players past and present have parents as well. IHE could get a job at the Sun putting 2 and 2 together like that and getting anything but 4
  6. Article 65.5 of the SFA Articles of Association The fact of membership of the Scottish FA shall constitute an agreement by a member that it, or any body or person interested through such member, shall submit all disputes to the jurisdiction of the Judicial Panel and shall not be permitted to take such differences or questions to a court of law. FIFA Statute 64.2 Recourse to ordinary courts of law is prohibited unless specifically provided for in the FIFA regulations. There's also an article at - http://www.scotzine....urt-of-session/ - is where it claims the last association to find itself in this position (Chilean) were faced with taking action against a club or being thrown out of FIFA. 8. Speaking as an Englishman, I think CC sums it up well. I like the Olympics but I don't like the same things CC doesn't like. I do think some people underestimate the value of hosting the olympics. I am sure it will increase the interest of a lot of youngsters in a variety of sports and there will be a significant boost to the tourist industry and a legacy of facilities. Having said that, I think it really is impossible to judge the financial impact it will have. In England at least there will be a general feelgood factor about hosting the games and this may have a positive impact on health although absenteism will rise as folk take time off work to watch Tom Daley make a much bigger splash than he intends. But the costs really are huge. I am all for the olympics but do they really have to be so expensive? The taxpayer really can't afford this. Mind you, had Rangers paid their tax bill things might be a little different.
  9. It's a sad day when even Tade doesn't really want to stay with us.
  10. I'd keep tade, he scored 9 goals last season and played out of position for the majority of the matches. With our squad looking so bare he will be an important player for us after the summer.
  11. Signing young players from England is ok with me if they are better than Ross, Morrison, Sutherland, shinnie etc but when we take Stratford, eagle, winnall, gnakpa, Chippendale, blumstein and the rest who are not even close to as good it makes you wonder why. I wonder who it is who picks out these players and I'd like to know if butcher saw these guys play at their respective clubs and thought yeah he's good! I'll have him!
  12. To me....it was just an opportunity to spend yet more billions, upgrading infrastructure and facilities in London, under the guise of the Olympic games. Last i heard, they reckon the cost could be £30Bn. Wouldnt catch the Govt investing that amount anywhere else, other than London!
  13. I think people get pulled in a certain direction including myself with regards to punishing the greedy b#####ds. If it was a club like Kilmarnock, and for instance a company who loans money to Killy and carries their dept suddenly goes bust and the receivers want the dept called in then Killy may be no more.Just only a possible example. But this hasn't happened to Kilmarnock, its happened to a big greedy club, a club that will beat most of the clubs it plays due to its spending power, a club that will steal your best players just to have them sitting on a bench, a club that will go bust and still have the money to fly from Glasgow to Inverness and stay in a 4* hotel but cant afford to hand over the money for tickets it sold to their own fans to watch an away game. a club that will overspend with the hope of getting a greater return from the cups it competes in. A club that steals your locals so they can call themselves Rangers fans just so they can cling on to a bit of success and rejoice if their adopted Glasgow club beats the team of their place of birth. A club that refuses to share more of the SPL kitty to the rest, just to weaken the rest of Scottish football. If it was a small club that was in difficulty I think I would be compassionate to them but its happened to a club that takes, takes then takes some more. What ever sanctions are put in place all they have to do is spend more cash and get a good lawyer to overthrow any handicaps put in front of them, just like the bans handed out to Lennon. I say take what you can get from them.
  14. I wonder if the club would consider asking some of the Olympic football teams if they wish to come for a friendly in the run-up to their competition. As we all know, some of the games are taking place at Hampden (one of whom is Spain), perhaps with some teams wanting to put in some practice before the tournament begins. This could get the ICT players involved in a different kind of friendly and would be a nice spectacle for the fans. I seem to recollect England doing something like this with the South African team Platinum Stars before the last World Cup.
  15. Offer is an insult designed for rejection and the avoidance of a repeat of the Granty scenario. What a way to treat a man that has given everything for the club? Suggest the level is around 50% of his current earnings. Is this the offer of a manager who wants to keep a player? Yet another bizarre move in a very bizarre season. And no I won't say who told me but I am 100% certain it is correct.
  16. Rosscoe has been written off so many times and by so many people in the last sixteen years at ICT he could buy a mansion if he had a quid every time anyone said he was finished or wasnt good enough. For me, and regardless of any bullshit or personal animosities folk might have, my personal opinion is that he IS still good enough, and furthermore I also believe that his sixteen years of loyalty to the club should also buy a bit of loyalty from the club. I read the comments from posters above about not being able to afford loyalty ... but in this case its not like he cannot do the job ... his votes in the Player of the Year polls this year show that ... so its not loyalty for loyalties sake .. its a bit of loyalty for a tremendous club servant and a realisation that this loyalty is also towards a player who still has something to offer. So c'mon Terry .... Put a decent offer on the table that will allow him to finish his career with the club. How many professionals these days can say they have truly been a one club player - Giggs & your mucker Mo Malpas ... but not too many more. As to first team guarantees ? I would also say that we do not guarantee first team football to anyone - that has to be earned, and in Rosscoe's case he can and will earn that. No-one, and i mean no-one should get a first team guarantee ... but if thats not the sticking point then lets not try to force him out like we (allegedly) did with others ......
