I wish I could believe that........I really do....but I'm afraid I don't. <rant mode on> After all, why would any punter expect that an SFA which permitted the OF to organise and implement a breakaway SPL, specifically to finance their ambitions to dominate Scottish football and earn a lot of money forever, and who is watching what is going on now, believe that the OF schmoozing mindset had changed? Why would any punter assume that an SFA, which not only allowed the OF to set up the SPL, but allowed them to set it up so the OF alone were in control of all income engendered through the media, to ensure those two clubs took the lion's share, and who is watching what is going on now, believe that the OF schmoozing mindset had changed? Let's be honest here...all the other teams involved in the SPL were deliberately, due to the division of income, designed to be the OF whipping boys....with little other purpose than to provide them with teams to beat to top the SPL table and get into the lucrative European market. It wasn't the removal of Oldco which placed the SPL clubs in a difficult position...it was the greed of those who originally agreed to form the SPL at their invitation in the first place which did that. Why would any punter who has watched the whole fiasco over the last six months since Oldco went into administration (and who could see this coming at some stage) logically assume that anything in the mindset of the football hierarchy, cares one toss about the prestige of Scottish Football, but are emulating our idiot bankers as in the idea that what we can make out of it for ourselves is more important than having any vestige of integrity? I have been sickened by the Scottish Football hierarchy and members of all three branches who had to be forced by fans to do what was right and not what was expedient to maintain their own jobs and their own teams, regardless of the laughing stock it made of the second oldest national Football Association in the world. I'd like to see us getting back to the pre-SPL days, as I kinda preferred it when we had no such fecking thing as an elite league...because we knew there were/are not 10 or 12 clubs so good as to be considered elite.....and you can't form a league out of basically two flaming teams buying success and 8 or 10 other teams making up the whipping dog numbers and call it elite...because it has proven that it is not. Have the other participants in the SPL been happy, really, to be the bit part players in the OF roadshow in the past, while knowing that, due to their own participation in the SPL, they were simply allowing the OF to increase their dominance of the league and Scottish football.......or did the increased income compensate for the fact that, instead of fighting for top place in a fair and equitable league, most teams outside the OF have been fighting all their SPL lives not to be chucked out of the lucrative machine? <rant mode off.....for the moment>2 points

From the Highway Code:- 244 You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs. [Law GL(GP)A sect 15]1 point

Unlike the fantastic St Mirren stewards who let us stand and enjoy ourselves..........at least until one lad took his shirt off when we discovered the newest SPL rule. Fans are not allowed to bare their torso. Either that or the female steward in question was just jealous that the lad had a better looking chest than she had.1 point

Indeed, my point is that surely we can ask for some common sense to be applyed to the situation (which is what we ask of refs all the time) as the vehicles I'm talking about are causing no danger to or disruption to traffic flow or pedestrians. So could some common sense be used and say fair enough these guys are harming anyone, it's for one afternoon every 2 weeks whats the downside? If people are parking on pavements or on the road causing a blockage fair enough ticket them, I've got no issue with that. Seems the police have no problem with church goers parking every which way on a Sunday around the Haugh Rd, Riverside area, could the same leniency not be shown to footie fans? Not having a go at you Don, nor the club as it's obviously nowt to do with them. I might contact the Polis for some Neil Lennon style 'clarification'! Dispite the fact that I'll probably not be driving to many games. Now I'm without the missus for the games as I plan to get drinks in at 'The Club' then get the supporters taxi with some of the other guys down to the stadium! The main problem is that is against the law. Very clever. Let me rephrase for you if it helps, what actual problem is the parking on the verge causing? Perhaps if you consider other people a bit more you might understand, I'm not having a dig at you personally, but I take my dad out in his wheelchair and selfish inconsiderate people cause me to bump an 83yr old extremely sick man down a high pavement onto a road to get past and then risk being hit by cars driving too close to us. I then have to try and bump him back up. It's not pleasant and can be a bit scary ( I've nearly tipped him out twice). When my kids were young we had to take them in a double buggy, that was worse. If everybody was a bit more considerate and abided by the law then the world would be a bit nicer place to live in. Pavements are for people not cars or bikes, People double park in my street all the time and if you're in a car you can squeeze by but risk scratching/loosing your mirrors. We have been lucky so far in that nobody has had a house fire as there is no way a fire engine could get through when the streets full, in fact I think an ambulance may also struggle. As I said I'm not having a pop at you but please think about it. Your actions have a knock on effect on other people and think how you would feel if a kid got killed crossing the road coz a driver couldn't see them for your illegally parked/abandoned car. You are having a bit of a dig at me, at least be honest lol. However I think you are misunderstanding me, where have I said it's OK for cars to park on a pavement / pedestrian area or should have carte blanche to park wherever? As you can see from what I've said above I don't condone that nor parking on double yellows on the road itself which would disrupt the flow of traffic. I have a wee one and we're often out in the buggy so I totally agree. The area I'm taking about very specifically is a rough grassy verge with brachen/bushes in places on the opposite side of the road from the stadium. Someone would have to be very daft indeed to walk accross the street from the stadium and where there is a nice wide pavement to walk down that, more so if they had someone in a wheelchair or a buggy etc. Hope this clears that up It's driving me mental. Perhaps I was having a bit of a dig at you. I'm a considerate person and hate when other people, through choice or copying other people, do something that causes major annoyance, let me give you an example, On Mon I had to take my dad to the hosp and parked legally in the disabled spaces. When we came out somebody had parked their car in front of my car and the car next to mine and blocked us in. I couldn't go forwards, sideways or backwards and it took 20 mins to get the *** to come out and move their car. His attitude was something to behold, how ferkin dare I inconvenience him etc. He doesn't know how lucky he is that there are cctv cameras and a security man who did nothing to help but stood nearby watching. I was ready to punch lumps out of him, not the security man. You may think I'm overreacting but there were loads of spaces nearby, the lazy git couldn't be arsed walking so abandoned his car in front of mine so he could be close to the entrance. No wonder he was well overweight. His parents must be so proud of him. That's prob the reason why I maybe overreacted a touch to you posts but the way you had written them made me respond. I don't usually get involved or contribute much, as you can tell by my post count.1 point

What a lot of drivel on this thread. The fact is that team GB has already won 22 gold medals and there are more to come. Team GB has got more golds than in any Olympics since 1908 and clearly far more nations compete these days. It is safe to say this is the best performance ever and we should celebrate that. It is a British team comprising of individuals from all corners of the UK, some as individuals and some as members of teams. Some are Scottish, some Welsh, some Irish and some English. Some of the Scots live in England and some of the English live in Scotland. Some of the Scots have English parents and some of the English have Scottish parents. The support teams consist of a similar eclectic mixes of the UK's constituent citizens. This is a UK team and it seems pointless to think of Scottish medals or English medals or to conjecture how a Scottish team representing an independent Scotland might fare in the future. What I can say with some certainty is that those wishing an independent Scotland should be celebrating the success of team GB because it represents success for Scotland as a part of the United Kingdom. The success will hopefully spur youngsters from all parts of the UK to take up sport. As a result, success for Scotland as an independent nation in any future games will be more likely because of the legacy of team GB.1 point

There's something quite sad about all this. The fact is England has a population about ten times that of Scotland, so England is bound to produce more top athletes. I quite like this Team GB thing where we are all united against the rest of the world once again. What I don't like is this chip-on-the-shoulder attitude we Scots have developed towards our neighbours, where in football, for example, in the absence of quality in our own national team, we are reduced to hoping our neighbours lose and are quite proud of the fact we support whichever team is playing England! I am proud to be Scottish, but whereas Scottish patriotism is viewed positively, we dismiss English patriotism as arrogance.1 point
