Are ICT really doing that bad relativley speaking? I mean the likes of the Edinburgh, Dundee teams, and the Aberdeen team, all have a hell of a lot more population than inverness has to draw on, but I would say their percentage of the population who attend their games wouldnt be any greater than ours. Do you know what i mean? For eg.....Aberdeen has 4.5 times the population of Invernesss....but i doubt they get 4.5 times the attendances that ICT do. Back when Aberdeen were sucsessful, they played to nigh on 24 000 for most home games, now....what is their average gate? Probably 1/3 of that4 points

Absolutely fine. It's my opinion too. It's calling for his head after a single defeat in the SPL to the current and future champions that's the problem. If he doesn't perform, then it will perhaps be time for a change. Perhaps not, depending. Despite attempts to make a number of people 'happy clappers' - it's not. Butcher has been reasonably successful so far I'd say. If that stops, then is the time to ask the question. Motherwell was a poor scoreline. Celtic? Well, you just have to know that sometimes your team will get thrashed. And I include Aberdeen, Dundee United and Hearts - they often lose heavily to the OF too. Judging Terry on a reasonable set of results against our main rivals is neither happy clapping or being a neggy. It's realism. And it's how Butcher would like to be judged too. It's still too early to judge if we'll have a successful season or not. So, yeah, let's see.2 points

As I have said before I disagree with many things Butcher does/has done but as long as he is in the job I want to see him do well. I will however not give him my blind support just because he is in the job. The coming weeks will shape mine and many people's opinions on Butchers future, as is the nature of football. In terms of other posters asking people to stop being negetive, this is a forum; a place meant for discussion. Posters are meant to share their opinions even if others disagree with them. I'm glad that not everyone on here is reading from the same hymm sheet because if we were it would be a pretty boring place. As long as discussion doesnt descend into petty arguments and name calling. If TB or anyone from the club does read this board. I'm sure they realise that in their nature of work not everyone is going to agree with what they do and people will voice their opinion. Again as long as this doesnt cross a line into personal insults aimed at these people then I don't see an issue.2 points

Three young signings called up for international duty, I would say that is pretty good management selection on a low budget! A forward line that is scoring goals consistantly, A team trying to play entertaining football, A team that fights back when down. A team that is still to gel and reach full understanding of eachothers capabilities and yet is improving regardless of losses. Give the Manager the credit he deserves please and drop this negativity. This team can and will do well under Terry. Maybe we cant all go to the fixtures but I'm sure we can all give the team and manager our support. That can only do good!!2 points

It is an unreliable sh*te site. It has Port Talbot Town ranked above Wolves. Nearly as absurd as ranking County above us. Terry, forget about top 500 for freedom of the city - just stick to winning the Scottish Cup - that should do the trick.1 point

I feel you may be missing the point of the argument here. All of this would require time to sift and sort, and that costs money. If you decide you want to keep it (and I would suspect that like the currency and the Head of State you probably will) then you still need to change the operating name and arrange contracts of affiliation / memorandums of understanding etc etc. For those you don't want to keep as is, which your post already implies would be few and far between, then you would need to create a new body to deal with it. Very, very, very few would be scrapped outright. What is for sure is that virtually nothing would be kept exactly as it is just now (except aforementioned currency and Head of State). Either way, who is benefiting from all this except lawyers and political hangers-on? And how much would this massive re-branding exercise cost? And more importantly, who would be footing that particular bill and for how long? So exactly where would the benefit be, since we are already relatively autonomous in our own affairs? As we have been for long before the parliament was conceived in 1999. For an example of how a close neighbour can co-exist with a larger country on it's border and yet have a totally separate identify, which is after all what you are after, then go visit the Celtic puddytat. They are independent and exclusively manage their own affairs. And they rise and fall on the decisions they make. I am sure they are all delighted at the way they have massively prospered since their separation from the nasty Brits. I am not saying we are a direct comparison with the Irish but it is a hell of a lot closer than using the Scandinavians which are more of a foreign culture to ours in many ways, both socially and economically. And the one thing that we learn from history is that we never learn from history. So the point remains - how much will it cost, for how long will we be paying for it and what is the overall benefit in the end beyond vague promises of control of oil revenue? If this were a business venture then the people proposing this MBO would need to demonstrate the NPV and pay-back involved before any bank or venture capitalist would even dare investing in it. With so much being conjecture, we can only go by comparison with others who have gone down the separatist route and study them. Can you recommend any we should be using as our study sample?1 point

Yes, it's when you get interference and aggravation from the Central Belt, which peaked around the mid 18th century, that the problems begin to arise. As long as you ignore the kilty cringe, which is just a 19th century imagined reinvention anyway, we're fine up here. What wouldn't appeal to me is getting my affairs dictated exclusively to me by the central belt - which is happening to a greater and greater extent already under this SNP administration which has centralised Police and Fire services and frozen council tax which has reduced the effectiveness of my local council. Salmond seems very keen to have as much power as he can devolved from Westminster to him, whilst at the same time operating reverse devolution (and hence concentrating even more power on himself) in the direction of local communities - such as this one for which I have a lot of enthusiasm. So if the SNP want to break up the United Kingdom on the basis of splitting off the bit with the oil money, then make it independence for the Highlands where we can get all the oil revenue but won't have the burden and baggage of the central belt.1 point

My understanding is that Butcher rules with an iron fist. I believe in this day and age that man management is the key to getting the most from players. Butcher believes that he is exempt from any kind of critisism - hence the regular verbals with ict supporters. Bear in mind that Ict will only ever consist of players who are very young and come through our youth system, or those who have already tried and failed at this level before. Running a team the way he does does nothing to instill confidence and runs the risk of destroying the confidence of some players. I would like to see him gone, regardless of who comes in, because i believe that he does more harm than good with his approach and menatality.1 point

I like the way that our forward players are fluid and change positions, I think it's a strength. A great way of creating chances is to 'double-team' your opponent, to outnumber them and having players comfortable changing positions is a key way of doing that. We need to play football in the right areas of the park and push up - against Celtic (albeit I only saw that game on the telly) we sat so deep it meant there was no chance of us doing anything. I'd be interested to see a chart of where our forward players touched the ball in that game - Doran and Andy Shinnie certainly had to drop into their own half to get teh ball on numerous occasions. The first 30 minutes of the Killie game showed how good we can be when we push up and get the ball to Shinnie, Doran etc in the final third of the pitch. Pushing high is a risk and I can see why defenders lacking in confidence drop deeper but we do so much better further up the pitch it's worth it. Graeme Shinnie is fantastic pushing on, as he showed in the second half of the Hearts game.1 point

All we need is a team on the field that excites, re Pele style of football. It might come but I can see the system we use means at the end of the season we have to start again. I don,t want to harp on about it, but over the bridge we now have ex caley players being the foundations of a winning team.1 point

You're right, we don't have 3 to 5 years to sort things out and I wasn't suggesting we do. Things have to start changing (for the better) now....but it will take that length of time, IMO, to get back to where we were in terms of the relationship between the club and fans that existed prior to our entry to the SPL and started going down hill from then on. How long it will take to reverse the trend in terms of falling numbers...I have no clue. It needs to happen quick, and it needs to happen in conjunction with the above. I know I keep on about the lack of money, and part of the turnaround needs to be looking at ways to fund certain things. I don't buy into the theory that Directors should exist to keep dipping in to their own pockets to finance things and in fairness to some of our Directors/Ex Directors, they have done more than their share in that regard. Yes, you could argue that they are merely funding their own mismanagement, but like it or not, football clubs in their current form are not sustainable businesses....and whilst doing everything else that needs done, a sustainable model which doesn't rely on handouts also needs to be put in place. (I'll save you the lecture on my thoughts about the need for community business models as I'm not sure a single post can be that long) There comes a point when you have to stop playing the blame game and accept that if you want change then you have to play your part in bringing it about. Have the club made poor decisions in the past?...sure. Have the fans been less than supportive at times?...sure. Does that change where we are at now and what needs to be done?...not in the slightest. I would, personally, whittle that list down to just 2 points....the last two. Ultimately the Board have very little control over the team, how they play and what they do. They can only provide a pot of money which is used to employ management and players, and beyond that it falls to the manager to make it as successful as possible within the budget he has. Levels of success and entertainment are subjective, and the board would be chasing their tail and getting involved in things they are not expert at (or expected to be expert at) if they were to try and interfere with that to any great extent. The second point...get points three and four right and point two takes care of itself, so let's not get hung up on it as a separate issue. Beyond your list, the club need to be looking at the non fan/match/football related activities which are needed to help support everything else. I don't know what goes on in terms of functions/conferencing etc on a day to day basis, so I'm in position to comment on where that is at, but it's not an area which should be ignored....far from it. I can't/wouldn't try to speak on behalf of the Directors of the club...but I think the fact that they have realised and accepted that things are broken is an important first step. The increased communication and working relationship with Caley Jags Together also indicates a willingness to go looking for reasons to why we are where we are and ideas on how to change it. That's only the very start of the process, and yes I do know for a fact that there's more to come. I'm not in a position to give any detail on what that it is, and that's partly down to not having full facts/details on the next step...but one is definitely in the pipeline and I fully agree with and support what I know of it so far. As much as some people might like to accuse me of having "crossed over" or being a "poacher turned gamekeeper"....I can assure you that I absolutely share all the same frustrations and disappointments as every other fan. The difference for me now, as I have said, is that things are changing and instead of wasting time and energy on being angry and upset about it, I can now spend that time and energy doing things to try and change it....either through my involvement with Caley Jags Together, or directly with the club. Yes, I do work (and need to), but I'm fortunate, I think, to work for myself and that allows me a lot of flexibility with my time. Wish I could do more, and if some rich person out there wanted to pay me to work full time for ICT then I would happily give up my other work...maybe I'll win the lottery instead!!! In saying that, it's not about how much a person does, I would be happier seeing 1000 fans give 1 hour a month than I would seeing 10 fans giving 100 hours a month....because that would be the surest indication of all that the ICT Community (Club, Fans, City, Businesses) were getting things right and everyone was supporting the club/team. All that aside....I think you, me and many others are saying we want to see much and such the same thing. I also accept that I am in a position where I'm seeing more day to day to convince me that the club board have turned a corner in terms of their approach/attitude to things and that news/message needs to be getting out there more in order to show others the same thing....point very much taken on board and will be fed back. I guess what I really want to see from fans is a bit less of "the club should be doing...." and a bit more of "how can I be doing". Again, I accept that the club/Caley Jags Together need to facilitate that and that point has been taken on board also and will be fed back. Anyway....off to hide as the "not at the game, but know everything must have been bad because we got beat brigade" will be out in full force and I find that more demoralising than anything else that's going on with the club just now.....!!!1 point
