IMHO if we take 2000 to a league cup semi in January, that's really pretty good. It means that loads of people who are either unable or unwilling for whatever reason to go to away league matches are sufficiently excited by the team reaching the semi final of this secondary cup competition to make the effort and devote the whole day to go. That sounds really positive to me. The semi final is, after all not the final and is only one game after the quarter final when we played away at Ibrox - a rather tasty prospect in anybody's book I would say. And how many went to that game? I don't know but I'll bet it was not a lot more than our usual away support (I'll also bet someone will soon correct me if I'm wrong). If we get to the final we will get a significant increase in our support and if we get to the final of the proper cup we will get even more. Kingsmills makes the extremely relevant point that Celtic and St Mirren have sold just 13,000 for their clash at a ground local to both clubs. We are taking over half our normal home gate to a ground nearly 150 miles away. The 2 of them between them are taking about a quarter of their normal home support to a local ground. A league cup semi final is simply not the greatest attraction there is and as far as I'm concerned if we have 2000 at Easter Road that will represent a excellent turnout. Bring it on!5 points

No. Dunfermline took 800 to our semi reply. Why do so many want to harp on about it? We are there that is all the matters. The ones who miss out, tough. If we win I hope we only ask for the same amount of tickets for the final and stop the glory hunters appearing. Would hate to be like County and taken 20000 "fans".3 points

Breaking news over here: "Barry Robson flies back to UK tonight after coming to agreement to terminate his deal with Vancouver Whitecaps" It was reported earlier that he wasn't at the first day of training (today) for the forthcoming 2013 season, and early indications quoted "personal issues" ... seems they must have meant "personnel issues" !!! One of the more prominent journos summed up his MLS career thus: "Robson ends a short, unfulfilled tenure in Vancouver. More arms waved in the air than assists or goals. Both sides needed to move on." Wonder what is next for him ? Retirement ? a swansong in D3 ?1 point

What about the 1800 to 1900 season ticket holders that provide money to the club each year and give money direct to OUR club. Do you not care about them going? ( by the way I go home and away)1 point

Im assuming 20-25 mins, I checked google maps in the past and think it was 1.2 miles from the station, just slightly over the distance as from town to the front of TCS stadium As for its not the Scottish cup shoite, any professional footballer at any club in Scotland who has been knocked out of this cup would gladly change places with us any day of the week. fact. Im going to have a great day out this coming Saturday regardless of turnout, we'll out sing them anyway with what weve got.1 point

He's certainly playing for a much better team than we were last season. He's now got McGinn to finish off his assists, where last season he had Tade.......1 point

Looking at it another way, we took more than 3 times our then average home support to each of our Scottish Cup semi finals but can manage only a multiple of less than 1 on Saturday. Disappointing in my book especially when the team is going so well. Just as disappointing, given that income from the two semis is pooled and split 4 ways, is that the greatest fans in the world are displaying their usual loyalty to the domestic game. Apparently, only roughly 13,000 tickets have been sold so far for the Hampden tie between two clubs within comfortable cycling distance from the stadium.1 point

Ticket sales might be disappointing, but here's a question - how many times since we first made it to the SPL 9 years ago have we taken 2,000 fans to a game that was further than Dingwall? Challenge Cup final in 2009? I can't think of any others. No doubt we could mobilise far greater numbers if it was Hampden, and especially if it was in THE cup, but for now we'll have to make do with quality rather than quantity.1 point

If that is true then that is pathetic. Not on the part of the club or people who are going but the saddos who would rather sit in the pub on a Saturday afternoon and "watch" Celtic or The Rangers on the Soccer Saturday vidiprinter. Inverness doesn't deserve ICT.1 point

Just as well they don't play the National Anthem at the end of games like they used to do at the end of a cinema show when I was a lad. That was GUARANTEED to empty the place well in advance! However, if your team has had a memorable 3-0 home win over a local rival, I would have thought that this would have been a huge incentive for fans to stay to share the defining moment of the final whistle?1 point

There's always an added risk with signing a player with a history of injuries. For ICT the risk worked out brilliantly with Dargo, and even Niculae came good after a slow and unfit start. I agree it's all about risk and reward, but the assessment has to be made at the time, without hindsight, and your comparisons seem a bit unfair to me. It's easy to see why OTJ was signed on a good wage - experience of playing at a decent level over many years, and an international to boot. A risk worth taking? I don't recall anyone saying anything to the contrary at the time. GMS on the other hand had never played a competitive game of football in his entire life. ICT took him for a test drive and he broke down. He was clearly talented but very high risk. I'm pretty sure he would have been touted round every pro club in Scotland that summer, but nobody signed him, not just ICT, nobody thought he was worth the risk on the terms he was looking for at the time. Dundee Utd only signed GMS the following season, after he had eventually proven his ability and fitness with Airdrie. Should we have looked at him again at that point? He was certainly worth the risk by then but we are pretty strong in that position and had other signing priorities. There's always a degree of luck with these things, but it's perfectly understandable why all parties did what they did and didn't what they didn't. It's also perhaps a bit early to be concluding or implying who was the better signing - there's a long way to go, and Saturday was GMS's first 90 minutes this season - OTJ has at least managed two full games!1 point
