  1. Apparently he'll serve his suspension on Thursday when St Johnstone play Rosenborg.

  2. Maybe as club captain he was keeping an eye on the younger players in a fatherly type way .

  3. The sad thing about cycling and athletics is that history tells us that you never really know who is clean and who isn't. These are sports that men and women excel in because they have a particular physical attribute rather than any particular skill. Obviously there is an element of technique and tactics but essentially it is the physical attributes which are the key thing. These athletes have to train exceptionally hard and pay strict attention to diet etc but having done all that, the use of performance enhancing drugs can add that crucial extra edge to a performance that makes the difference from being just one of the pack to becoming number one. Every time someone does something remarkable we question whether it is genuine or not. It's a shame. We should get excited about performances like Mo Farah this week when he ran a 1500 metres just to gain some speed practice for his 5,000 and he breaks Steve Cram's British record. It's astonishing really and most of the guys are probably clean but I'm afraid the cynic in me prevents me being too excited about these things. For me, there's far more to admire in Phil Mickleson's magnificent final round in the open where supreme skill, good judgement and nerves of steel saw him through. Performance enhancing drugs to make him stronger, faster or to keep going longer would have been of little help to him at Muirfield.

  4. £0. Friendlies are crap, not proper football. I'd rather watch Caley play Montrose in the league cup first round in front of 300 fans than watch a friendly against Real Madrid.

  6. What was he doing under a car? Well, being a 33 year old coming out of a night club at 3.30 in the morning I expect it is a simple case of him being exhausted.

  7. cannot see how anyone can be in the tiniest bit concerned? our squad has lost just 3 players in Andy Shinnie, OTJ and Reguero. Brill has looked solid and dependable in the matches so far and looks a ready made replacement for Toni, James Vincent looks like a quality buy from Tel as unlike Owain he seems to be more forward thinking in his play, and like with Brill seems to have integrated well into the squad. Admittedly I see Shinnie as a big loss, but with Doran playing in a more natural central role with more freedom to express himself and with the promising acquisitions of Williams and Watkins on the wings and Curtis Allen (who looks like he has an eye for the onion bag) I personally still see us as one of the more exciting attacking sides in Scotland. (Cue someone to bump this post come our relegation with 4 points in May).

  9. It's all very well scorning about so called glamour friendlies but it would be interesting to know how much profit County made on Saturday Nearl 4500 there despite it being £20 a ticket so a tidy sum I'll never understand this clubs yearly trudge around the diddy highland league grounds pre season, that's spending money not making it County I believe are now off to Holland to play a couple of top Dutch clubs while we visit Gayfield, there's no comparison really if we are to be honest Dougal

  10. I couldn't care less if Richie Foran committed war crimes, he's a brilliant player and our captain.

  15. I just feel that those stats can be dismissed as being of little significance due to the fact that Celtic fare worse than Motherwell, Dundee United, Ross County, St. Mirren and Hibs in both tables. Lies, damned lies and statistics!

  16. Amazing the things you learn on CTO. I never ever realised Preston was a dockyard town till now. I know it has a Marina but never thought that was once docks.

  17. happyclapping taken too a whole new level in the summer already. Sneckboy calls us dropping 10 more points when winning games than St Johnstone as drivel and lukemackay thinks we're second best behind Celtic, despite neither table showing the number of points lost when going behind and games won when going ahead. It was you Luke who asked for the stats on the points gained from being behind and there they are, I don't care if you dismiss them. I'm expecting more of the same in the coming season. I can hope for the change though, I hope that defeat to County hurt Butcher as much as us beig relegated did.

  18. Disgraceful from the Tims, almost as bad as when they had that "Islam" banner at the Scottish Cup final.
