After all the recent complaints about the terrible coverage we get from the BBC, they dedicate a prime time Saturday evening show to ICT.......and we don't show up.
  2. Benefits of a postponement: 1. Tie will take place when Ofere and Kink are fitter and know the team better 2. Warren won't be suspended 3. Brill might be back. 4. Pitch should be in better nick, to suit our passing game 5. We will definitely be in the draw for the sem-finals!

Which Scotland now never qualify for and only a handful of players who play in Scotland will participate in. Bigger countries than ours have managed to compete in the World Cup and other things while having a summer league, so it's an argument that doesn't wash with me.

As was pointed out to me a few weeks back...summer football is great in theory, but creates just as many issues in practice. The biggest one being pitch recovery. At the moment this takes place during the summer when you get most growth, but if you are playing on it during that time then "recovery" period then becomes winter when you get little/no growth...i.e. it doesn't get chance to recover. Summer football is good for other reasons, but it would also have to be done in conjunction with the use of 4G pitches.
  5. Amazing that football clubs are expected to achieve what mankind hasn't managed to do for thousands of years....predict and successfully beat the weather!! Covers were down and all possible precautions were taken...but we're talking about 10's of thousands of gallons of water falling in a fairly short time on to ground that was already heavily soaked from ongoing wet weather....and a forecast that said it was going to continue. (a forecast that, until yesterday afternoon, had indicated the risk was lowish and chances are it would have missed the city) Clubs, including ICTFC, have been pilloried in the past for not making early decisions in situations were extensive fan travel is involved...and some of our fans have been most vocal about it when we're the ones travelling! (although technically speaking it's the SFA rep doing the inspection that makes the decision). We have one of the most experienced groundsmen in the country who has performed miracles on occasion over the years to get matches on, so let's cut him a bit of slack when he can't pull off the impossible!
  6. There is one answer to your question and that is finances. I don't understand all this "The club should do this" The club should have done that". The weather has caused the postponement and it happens. If anyone thinks the club did not want the game played today, take a look at yourselves. The position of the ground makes drainage difficult at certain times (tides). Those saying it's not raining now what would you prefer, a game postponed before people set off for the game or waiting just in case things improve only to find at 14:00 the pitch is unplayable. It's March, it's the North of Scotland and the ground is next to a tide driven body of water. These things happen and the club can do very little to stop it.
  7. Refresh. Refresh. C'mon! Cheers caleydawson for the updates.

With yet another game off for weather is it time to get summer football introduced to the league?

I think the biggest benefit would come from TV money.I suppose the theory is that there is less sporting competition for TV audiences, so Sky and BT might entertain a decent contract for Scotland to satisfy a year-long appetite. Savings would include reduced need for floodlighting. The international and European timetable is a consideration, but other countries manage it.
  10. I must admit I did wonder if the right decision had been made when the sun was shining this afternoon. However having seen the pictures on sportscene the area between the 18 yard line and centre circle (Caley end) was well flooded. This area was a problem when we played St Johnstone and we have had far more rain over the past week. If it had gone ahead the wind would have been a nightmare and the conditions would likely have suited Raith more than us. A few extra days rest and an extra training session for the new strikers should benefit the team. Let's hope the pitch dries out and we can get a win on Tuesday.

Kingsmills - you are invited to the next Seers Meeting - don't need to tell you where or when.
  12. Looks like it'll be no better on Tuesday!
  13. I take my hat off. Amazing how a post on this site can get County moving and Jimbo is now on course for Manager of the Month.
  14. Its all down to us beating Raith Rovers until then we aint going anywhere. Its a big game for both teams

Summer football sounds very sensible. I'm sure RiG will agree.

Potentially excellent news for us. Dundee United have a far better chance of winning with Cifti in there side than without him and I'd far rather play United in the semi-final or final than Celtic.
  18. Pity it couldn't be played next Saturday as a Tuesday night will certainly reduce the gate. Probably now looking at around 2,800 for this game! I'm serious!

Thought I read on our forum some time ago that the flooding or waterlogging of our pitch was mainly down to the water table / Firth levels. If so then we could still have problems in very wet summers, June is a case in point which can be a particularly wet month. What we need is a 100% grant ( ) from the SFA or Scottish Gov. to have our pitch built on a raft similar to what was done for the commonwealth games at Hamden, after all on our current form we are aspiring world beaters who currently do not have, as yet, in Inverness, facilities suitable to host full internationals, European and world cup finals and the other great sporting events as are available in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Aberdeen can have their multimillion Culture Centres so surely a little could be done for us, the new Mecca of footballing pulchritude and excellence. O M G what a match postponement can do to me.........think I better ;have a lay down

Never mind the league, time to get Summer football introduced to the Cup !
  21. Why didn't someone start a thread yesterday about the possibility of a deluge threatening this game! It would likely have just got 'poo-pooed'!
  22. With having no game next weekend and this rescheduled fixture likely to take place midweek before the next game, Warren will still likely miss out.

Only once in my life have I wished real ill will on an absolute rotter and, it happened! Made some of my friends look at me in a different light! I now wish real ill will on that thug - he is no advert for sport and/or sportsmanship and a dreadful example for young players who try their best for their Club. May he come to grief soon, in any way possible - come on Celtic - give him a real do-ing where it hurts.
  24. Imagine them even having this debate if it was us
