  1. The "Union and the Crown" sounds like a Sevco ditty. But can we put this into Nonsense (not good enuff fer General Nonsense). Lets all wait till Bannerman writes a fairy tale about it all. I also presume that DNA stands fer Definitely Not Applicable.

  3. I noticed this was on Facebook if it's any help.
  4. ......and scored with his clearance! Then his goal celebration would've included sitting on the crossbar !
  5. http://www.inverness-courier.co.uk/News/Behind-The-Headlines/Sheep-grazed-on-Inverness-nursery-of-the-beautiful-game-2444.htm This article here suggests that I was wrong. It was Thistle that played in the Millburn Academy site and a merger with Crown allowed them to move to Kingsmills. Presumably that means that Needlefield Park (where Wikipedia says they played) was somewhere up the Crown then and not on the railway line site...unless that was classed as the Crown at that time. I don't think Thistle were a merger of Union and Crown as apparently Union was formed in 1883 and didn't merge with Thistle until 95 (ten years after Thistle formed). Thistle merged initially with Crown in 1889.
  6. Jim Calder would have cleared it
  7. Wed 2 Mar 2016 Highland League A Skinner (Nairn C 3 - Wick A 3)
  8. Pretty common to have mergers. IIRC, Aberdeen FC is a merger of two clubs - one called Bon Accord, I think. And Ross County is the result of a merger of Dingwall Victoria and another club.
  9. I recall someone used to write into the papers proposing the name Inverness Castle. The merger did result in some weird and wonderful suggestions.
  10. David Balfe managed OK in 1996. Many didn't like it but I thought it was OK. Regarding the name, on one side the forum is getting requests not to mention the m-word. Then on the other there are questions like this which, although understandable, do require the wheel to be reinvented and the m-word to be revisited in order to answer them.
  11. Probably some jakey who found himself regularly transported there by G4S or whoever their predecessors were.
  12. I might be misjudging it but from the replay, it looked like Fon Williams could have done more for the first goal. Walker takes a heavy touch and I think there was an opportunity to dive in and knock the ball away. Easier said than done though. In general I think there's too much negativity on here, but saying that, it's often the case on football forums! Losing to Hearts is no disgrace, they've only lost once at home in the league this season. We lost 4-5 of our best players and have been plagued by injuries, so if we were to achieve top 6 it would be a brilliant achievements. On paper, our squad isn't great and we get by on the mentality and style that Hughes has brought to the club. I hope I'm not speaking too soon, but I think we have more than enough quality to stay away from the dreaded relegation play-off. While there's some complaints that our style in not exciting enough at the moment, supporting ICT under Hughes, it's the first time I've seen us really dominate teams with an attractive style of football. We desperately need Doran back to add some flair though. On another note, having seen the few clips of that Williams lad we signed in midfield, he certainly looks like someone who may have the ability to unlock a defence, so hope he is given at least a good chunk of the Scottish cup tie on Sunday.
  13. Last few games the side seem to lack motivation and an urgency to push forward. In the last 10 minutes when the game was over they stepped up the speed of play and was the only time they remotely looked like a side who are the Scottish cup holders .
