  1. I've had a bit of a debate with myself over whether to place this thread here or in the UK football section, but I've decided that it's relevant enough to Caley Thistle for this part of the forum. First of all, many congratulations to Caley Thistle's longest serving player of all time and appearance record holder (456) Ross Tokely, now manager at Brora Rangers, on their superb passage through to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup. More eye-catchingly still, in four victories to date, two of them away to League One opponents, Brora have scored at total of 12 goals and conceded none at all. Several Caley Thistle "old boys" have made a huge contribution to what Brora have achieved in recent years, and another of them is Jamie Duff who seems to have been put up as their post-match player interviewee at Methil. Jamie was not slow to reveal that he thought East Fife "would have given a bit more respect" to Brora while instead "they thought they could turn up and stroll it". Jamie's words do bring back memories of 22 years ago at the same last 32 stage in January 1996, when East Fife appeared to treat the then still embryonic Caley Thistle with the same lack of respect. Many will remember East Fife manager Stevie Archibald subbing himself off, apparently reckoning the game to be won..... without bargaining on the resilience of Herchie and Co, a replay, extra time and a penalty shootout victory for Caley Thistle. The rest .... Brian Thomson's glorious winner at Stenhousemuir leading to a quarter final encounter with Rangers at Tannadice.... became history as the "new" Inverness club recorded the first major achievement of its then short and still difficult history. I have always believed that the Scottish Cup campaign of 1995-96 was a major turning point for Inverness - and it came thanks in part to a lack of respect which, according to Jamie Duff, still hasn't been addressed down Methil way.
  2. I couldn't find much either, so I gave up. Possibly the Hibs keeper was too tall. He looked about eleven foot six. Surely that's rule 402 broken.
  3. It would get him off our payroll and, as far as Scotland are concerned, things could hardly get any worse.
  4. Let's get Richie Foran to do it, and make things even worse

This thread has degenerated into an exchange of insults so I am locking it.
  6. Imagine...! In some ways, that would be great (& the pressure would be mainly on 'Gretna of the North', being the incumbent premier league team), but I'd rather we were both in the top flight, to be honest - just to give 2 fingers up to the Central belt hierachy! Very hard route to the top flight (just ask Dundee Utd...), but doable (just ask Hamilton Accies...). 2nd place finish is our best hope...
  7. Is a team really disrespectful if they lose against a lower league side? Were we disrespectful when Elgin, ayr and partick to name a few knocked us out of the cup when we were two leagues above. I don't really think so. It happens in football and yes it's a great achievement so by saying a team didn't take it seriously kinda lowers it a little.
  8. I came up on a flight from Manchester not long ago and was sat next to Billy he came across as a nice guy and said he has been struggling for fitness, I gathered he had good regard for ICT but circumstances change in this game. I said to him he would get goals under Robbo and he gave me a nod.Good lad who wishes our club well

They had a chance at the time when the other erse cheek caused the referee strike. If all the clubs had showed some cojones and resigned from the league and formed their own, the ugly sisters would have to play each other every week. That would have put the cat among the pigeons

I admire your honesty (i have my doubts) as like yourself i to supported the blue half of Glasgow in my younger years It all goes back to the days standing in the howden end as a youngster ,blue was always my favourite colour & after all caley were the Rangers of the north due to the success of both clubs. As i said its the blatant hatred u seem to have with all things Rangers that i fail to understand iv not once seen you post anything regarding the anti British songs, the glorifying of terrorists ,the support for palestine protest or the various political banners that occurs at celtic games home & away ,or i ask you again have you yet condemned the Aberdeen fans for mocking the Ibrox disaster? is that not offensive to yourself being a fan of Scottish football? You seem to be offended by one club & one club only what happened ?did Rangers mess up your Saturday coupon a couple of times. Scottish football will never move on or be successful until the fans of every club accept that no matter how bad the crimes of one club were we actually need them more than ever as yes they bring unwanted baggage but they also bring the sponsors, the tv deals & they fill stadiums across Scotland along with the other lot. Anyway fellow must dash some of us have work to do, have enjoyed the chit chat lets do it over a pint next time nd we can maybe discuss our favourite billy urquhart goal versus Thistle or if ud prefer your favourite parkhead moment lol.
